Although it was not the right time to discuss this matter with the Crown Prince, Yui feared that if she waited too long, she might choose to avoid it altogether.
Delaying for another day was not an option.
As she reached the edge of the corridor, she saw Eunuch leading two women inside, their backs turned to her, making it impossible to see their faces.
Yui's curiosity was piqued, and she crouched down, preparing to sneak a peek around the corner. However, just as she leaned toward the doorway, she was caught by the guards.
The guards recognized her and treated her politely.
Even though Yui wanted to sneak a look, she had no choice but to stand up and feign composure, saying, "Um, I'm here to bring tea to the Crown Prince."
The guards exchanged glances, clearly aware of her obvious lie, but they did not expose her. Instead, they respectfully replied, "The Crown Prince has ordered that no one is allowed to enter at this time."
"Why not? I just saw someone go in!" Yui said eagerly, convinced that something was happening.
"Uh... how would I know?" one of the guards replied.
The guard added, "Please don't make it difficult for us."
Though their words were respectful, their attitude was firm; it was clear they intended to block her from entering.
Yui found it difficult to force her way in, so she had no choice but to turn around. Just as she lifted her foot to leave, she heard a creak behind her.
The door opened, and the Eunuch led two women out.
Yui turned around and was stunned, pointing at one of the women in front of her. "Is it you?"
The woman turned her head, and upon seeing Yui, she seemed unfazed and smiled slightly. "Long time no see."
Oh my, she never expected to see her here.
Although three years had passed, Yui still had a deep impression of this beauty; she was the one who had stood behind her three years ago when applying for the position of personal maid.
"What are you doing here?" Yui regained her composure and looked at the other woman, widening her eyes again.
It wasn't that she encountered another acquaintance; rather, the other woman looked strikingly similar to her—at least seventy percent alike.
From height to facial features, the most similar aspect was those lively eyes, though the other woman had a hint more shyness than Yui.
"Oh my." Yui exclaimed as she stepped forward to touch the woman's cheek.
The woman looked at her in surprise but quickly lowered her head again.
If it weren't for the ethereal aura Yui sensed from her, she might have thought she had a sister lost among the common folk.
