He looked at me with gentle eyes and said,
"Zhou Hong, will you marry me?"
I replied, "I will."
Ma Gang placed the ring on my finger and held me close.
He said, "Zhou Hong, I will love you well."
I leaned on his shoulder and said, "Ma Gang, thank you."
Our fingers intertwined as we walked along the cobblestone path scattered with silver pebbles.
Ma Gang said, "Zhou Hong, I want to give you the most romantic wedding."
I smiled at him and asked, "What kind?"
Ma Gang replied, "On a lawn full of flowers, with friends and family all around. I will wear a suit, and you will wear a wedding dress, and we will make the most solemn vows."
I laughed.
Ma Gang looked at me, his eyes sparkling like stars.
He said, "We will grow old together; our hair will turn white. I will push your wheelchair and take you to watch the sunset."
I held his hand tightly and said, "Ma Gang, I will definitely wait for that day."
Ma Gang looked at me with a beaming smile on his face.
He said, "It will happen."
When I went to the office, my colleagues said I had changed.
They said I used to be like a strong woman, but now I seemed like a little woman.
I looked at them and smiled.
I said, "That's because I feel loved and secure with the person I cherish the most." They looked at me with envy. I said, "You will find that person too." They replied, "I hope so."
Ma Gang took me to see the wedding venue. I leaned on his shoulder and said, "Ma Gang, I think I've already seen it." He looked at me and smiled, saying, "Zhou Hong, you will walk through a flower arch in a pure white wedding dress, just like them." I smiled back.
He said, "Zhou Hong, you will be the most beautiful bride." Ma Gang and I went to take wedding photos. He wore a suit, his tall figure looking handsome and upright. I stood opposite him, watching him smile.
Ma Gang looked at me and said, "Zhou Hong, you look really beautiful when you smile." I smiled. Ma Gang added, "Zhou Hong, you should smile more." I nodded.
The photographer raised the camera and said with a smile, "You two look perfect together." I laughed. Ma Gang laughed too. We left behind happy smiles in the Lavender field.
Ma Gang held my hand tightly, as if letting go would make me disappear.
I looked at him and said, "Do you know the meaning of lavender?"
He looked at me and replied, "No."
I smiled and said, "It means 'waiting for your love.'"
Ma Gang gazed at me, his eyes filled with affection.
After we finished taking wedding photos, I collapsed on the living room sofa, exhausted.
The wedding was just a week away, and I leaned on Ma Gang's shoulder, watching him smile.
Ma Gang leaned down to kiss me, and I closed my eyes, as if returning to our first kiss.
Then Ma Gang's phone rang.
He looked at me and said, "I'm sorry, Zhou Hong."
I smiled and replied, "It's okay."
He answered the call, saying, "Okay, I'll be back soon."
I looked at him and asked, "Are you leaving again?"
Ma Gang looked at me and said, "Zhou Hong, I have to go."
I nodded.
I took a lavender flower from the vase and placed it in his jacket pocket.
I said, "Ma Gang, come back safely; don't miss our wedding."
Ma Gang looked at me and assured, "I won't."
His lips were stained with my lipstick, so I picked up a tissue to clean it off for him.
