Yue Shaoting's father, once the head of a large family, was imprisoned by the Sovereign's order in the Giant Yi Nation's jail after the Yue Family disbanded, awaiting trial. This matter was no longer a secret.
The Yue Family was originally the most prominent family on Giant Barbarian Island, closely connected to the Giant Yi Nation. However, due to the schemes of the Mountain Clan and various other reasons, coupled with their own decline, they fell into a state of disarray.
Yue Shaoting left for the Central Plains to seek allies and strengthen the Yue Family's power, but ultimately she failed, resulting in a devastating blow to the Yue Family and allowing the Mountain Clan to rise in power.
From then on, the head of the Yue Family was detained, and the only talented young woman, the young master Yue Shaoting, was left wandering outside with her fate unknown, a situation that had long been common knowledge.
However, it must be said that Yue Shaoting indeed failed; she lost to Lu Chen. Yet at the same time, she also found an opportunity for a comeback, thanks to Lu Chen.
"Lu Chen, you must face the Sovereign clearly and demand my father's release. Most of our Yue Family's forces scattered among the populace after our disbandment. If my father can come out and rally his old subordinates, there will surely be many who respond," Yue Shaoting said earnestly. When it came to her father, she became extremely agitated and emotionally unstable; this was only natural.
Lu Chen reached out his hands and gently embraced Yue Shaoting's shoulders. "Shaoting, don't worry. I understand your situation well; even if you don't tell me, I know what to do."
At this point, Lu Chen paused and continued, "However, even if your father comes out and gathers his old followers to make a comeback, I believe it will still be difficult to compete with the Mountain Clan."
Yue Shaoting's voice faltered for a moment as disappointment washed over her. "I understand that too; I am aware of it. But is it right for our Yue Family's great legacy to be handed over to the Mountain Clan without a fight?"
"No, Shaoting. Trust me; I will not let such a thing happen. What I'm thinking is that the Mountain Clan's current power is not just from the Giant Yi Nation's Sovereign; they also have backing from Qi Kingdom. This is no joke; you cannot defeat them."
Lu Chen analyzed the situation logically; he understood well how these forces were intertwined.
After a night without incident, early the next morning, members of the Giant Yi Nation royal family came to welcome Lu Chen and his companions and made all necessary arrangements.
Then Lu Chen and his group traveled by carriage towards the Giant Barbarian Kingdom Palace. Along the way, they were surrounded by onlookers expressing their curiosity.
Upon arriving at the palace entrance, someone approached to intercept them and demanded that Lu Chen and his companions surrender their weapons.
Lu Chen instructed everyone under him to hand over their swords and similar weapons. This was protocol; no matter which country's palace it was, carrying metal weapons inside was prohibited.
Once inside the palace and after meeting with the Sovereign of Giant Yi Nation, Lu Chen presented his "gift."
As he had come as an envoy on short notice without any special gifts prepared, he offered some beast food brought from Wasteland Continent, along with some beast fangs and bones, as well as seeds used by the Ape Demon Clan for planting—all beautifully packaged as gifts for presentation.
After that, both sides exchanged pleasantries and then had breakfast. Following this, the Sovereign of the Giant Yi Nation personally took Lu Chen and others on a tour of the palace, enjoying the flowers and observing auspicious beasts. The entire process was quite ordinary, with no unexpected incidents occurring.
From an intuitive sense, Lu Chen noticed that the bearded Sovereign seemed somewhat arrogant, as if he looked down on him and his companions.
Although they were treated with national gifts during this visit, the king's attitude was indeed somewhat overbearing, and Lu Chen could vaguely guess his underlying intentions.
Before they knew it, noon arrived, signaling it was time for lunch. This was a banquet hosted by the Sovereign of the Giant Yi Nation for the envoys, a feast at the level of a state banquet, featuring lavish dishes and various exquisite delicacies.
In the reception hall of the palace, each person had a table in front of them laden with identical dishes, while servants were responsible for serving tea back and forth.
Not far away, there was a row of court Geishas holding various instruments, playing a series of deep and beautiful melodies.
"The envoys have come from afar and have worked hard. Let us toast," said the bearded Sovereign of the Giant Yi Nation, raising a tall wine goblet towards Lu Chen.
Lu Chen returned the gesture, saying, "Sovereign is being too polite. It is I who should toast you for this special visit."
Both sides toasted each other; not only the Sovereign but also the Queen and the Crown Prince of the Giant Yi Nation raised their glasses to drink with Lu Chen.
After three rounds of drinks, the Crown Prince stood up and said, "Envoy, your Central Plains are vast and rich, known as a powerful nation. Do you have any special skills to show us for our enjoyment?"
The Crown Prince's tone carried a hint of disdain, clearly looking down on Lu Chen as an envoy. If he were truly an envoy from the Great Zhou Dynasty, they would naturally treat him with more respect.
However, Lu Chen was merely an envoy from a family. Although this family held some weight and might one day aspire to prominence in the Central Plains, it remained just a family—how could it possibly compare to an independent nation?
The Crown Prince and the Sovereign, as well as anyone else present here, looked down on Lu Chen and his group. Of course, this was internalized; they did not openly express it.
The reason they still treated Lu Chen's group with national gifts was likely to humiliate them thoroughly in the end. As the saying goes: "The higher you lift someone up, the harder they fall."
The Sovereign of the Giant Yi Nation and the Crown Prince had such intentions—to bring Lu Chen down hard so that he could not rise again.
Lu Chen secretly thought, "You look down on me so much, thinking I don't know. Hmph, you still want to mock me. Since that's the case, I'll show you this tiny nation a thing or two. You want a spectacle, right?"
"Bring the Ape Demon up here," Lu Chen said to his subordinates.
Immediately, two towering Ape Demons, each ten feet tall, swaggered into the hall from the plaza outside. They roared and brandished their claws, appearing extremely fierce, occasionally demonstrating their might to the soldiers nearby, who were too frightened to move.
However, they were both tied up with ropes and were under the care of a Beast Tamer who understood most human languages. Thanks to the Beast Tamer's control, they did not lash out recklessly; otherwise, they would have likely caused havoc in the palace by now.
Seeing this scene, the Sovereign, Crown Prince, and the Queen were all stunned.
They had never seen such colossal creatures before, especially ones that had been tamed by humans. Given their fierce appearance, if they went on a rampage, the palace would likely be reduced to ruins in no time.
The two massive Ape Demons reached the plaza and raised their enormous iron fists to pound on their chests in a show of strength. Their roars echoed through the hall, frightening the Queen of Giant Yi Nation into losing her color.
Even the King and Crown Prince trembled in fear, not daring to breathe too loudly.
"Alright, alright, let them down. They're really terrifying; why do we need to see such a spectacle?" the Queen complained.
At the King's signal, Lu Chen ordered for the Ape Demons to be taken away.
The Crown Prince's expression was extremely grim as he said, "Is this your nation's special skill? As an envoy, I wonder if there’s anything more eye-opening."
The Crown Prince pointed at Lu Chen with clear intent to make things difficult for him.
"Esteemed Crown Prince, I naturally have special skills for you. Today I will present them before the King," Lu Chen thought to himself. "This Crown Prince is clearly trying to make things hard for me. If it were another envoy or someone else, they might really end up leaving in disgrace. But since it's me, I can only make you regret it."
On either side of the Sovereign stood two monks in opposite corners of the hall. These monks appeared calm and collected; they spoke little but had strange expressions as they fixed their gaze on Lu Chen and others.
These monks were different from those in Central Plains; they belonged to a branch of Buddhism. Although they were not as renowned as Eastern Shaolin or Amitabha Sanctuary from the Western Continent, they had their own unique practices.
Just looking at the two monks in front of him, it was clear they were not ordinary people. However, they did not possess the aura of warriors, which meant they must be Yin God Practitioners.
It was because of these two individuals that Lu Chen had refrained from causing trouble here, remaining cautious, while the other party had not made a move. Now that the Crown Prince wanted to see a special performance, Lu Chen had no choice but to comply.
Lu Chen said to the Crown Prince, "Esteemed Crown Prince, I would like to use you for an experiment. May I?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the room became tense, including the Sovereign, the Princess, and even the Crown Prince himself, along with the two monks not far away.
The two monks reacted strongly, their Flesh trembling as they grew even more wary of Lu Chen. If he made a slight misstep, they feared they would rush over and tear Lu Chen apart.
"This is unacceptable; are you joking with the Crown Prince's life? This is going too far," the Sovereign said anxiously from the side.
Seeing this, Lu Chen hurriedly explained, "Respected Sovereign, there is no need for concern. I guarantee with my life that nothing will happen to the Crown Prince. My friends and I are here; that is the best assurance."
Lu Chen assured everyone present that he would not threaten the Crown Prince's life.
On the other hand, the Crown Prince's initial shock gradually shifted into contemplation. He realized there was no way out; if he directly accepted Lu Chen's proposal and something went wrong, he would regret it too late.
However, if he refused Lu Chen's proposal, that would be even worse. After all, he was still the Crown Prince and future king. If he appeared cowardly, it would only lead to ridicule and shame for the royal palace.
