"What does this mean? Is the treasure not being returned?"
Although Jun Bell is the treasure of King Jun, he is far away, trapped in a deadlock and unable to respond. He can only convey messages through Jun Bell to Lu Chen. By the time the message reaches Lu Chen, it is merely a faint ghostly signal, so he cannot hear King Jun's voice and has no idea if he is angry.
Lu Chen intends to hand over Jun Bell, which contains a strand of ghost from Chuan Ru Mage, to the Supreme Master Taihuang of the Five Element Sect. This clearly indicates that the treasure will not be returned.
Will the Supreme Vice Master of the Five Element Sect be easy to deal with? Once the treasure is in his hands, it will be tenfold or a hundredfold more difficult for Lu Chen to retrieve it, and there may be no hope of getting it back at all unless the Supreme Master of Xuan Huang Sect personally intervenes to negotiate, appealing to emotions and reason, and offering an item of equal value in exchange.
How could the Supreme Master of Xuan Huang Sect possibly lower himself to negotiate with the Supreme Master of the Five Element Sect, appealing to emotions and reason, let alone offer an item of equal value?
"Lu Chenyu, do not deceive yourself. Inside Jun Bell is a strand of my junior brother Chuan Ru's ghost. No matter what price I have to pay, I will get it back. And as for your master Baiqingzi, I will eventually seek him out as well. Some matters need to be resolved," King Jun communicated.
With the facade already torn apart, Lu Chen was resolute in not returning Jun Bell. He replied to King Jun, "What does it matter if you claim the treasure? Senior Jun, let me make this clear: your junior brother Chuan Ru nearly put me to death and endangered my life. Although he has been punished, who compensates me? It is only right that debts are repaid with flesh; therefore, I believe this Jun Bell should be handed over to our higher-ups for them to decide. If you wish to reclaim it later, go find them. As for dealing with my master, you might as well wait until after he exits his seclusion."
After relaying this information about Jun Bell, Lu Chen cut off communication and ignored King Jun.
"Master, where are you? Old Mu has come to pick you up."
Lu Chen's Yin Spirit drifted above the sea and immediately spotted Old Mu piloting a wooden boat while loudly exchanging names.
Old Mu was not far away; he was just within the swallowing range of Jun Bell. As soon as Lu Chen lifted Jun Bell, it began to absorb Old Mu.
"This won't do; Old Mu cannot be allowed to be swallowed!" Lu Chen urged his Yin Spirit with all his might and flung Jun Bell towards Shanghai Island, hanging it on a sharp tree.
"Old Mu, I'm fine; hurry ashore!" Old Mu was still shaken; he had tightly grasped the boat's edge as it was pulled swiftly through the water.
Hearing Lu Chen's voice echoing in the sky reassured Old Mu; he recognized it as his master's ability and felt a warm familiarity. He immediately felt joy and steered the wooden boat towards shore.
Upon reaching land, Lu Chen's Yin Spirit returned to his body just as Old Mu also made it ashore.
"Stay away from that bell," Lu Chen pointed at Jun Bell hanging on a palm tree hundreds of feet away and warned Old Mu.
"Yes, master, I understand. That really scared me," Old Mu said as he rolled up his sleeves and wiped the sweat from his face.
"What is the situation?" Lu Chen asked, referring specifically to the battle on the island.
"After killing Luo Gongshuai, I came to find you. I don't know the current situation; that Dual Blades expert is not easy to deal with," Old Mu said.
At that moment, Lu Chen perked up his ears and heard a series of shouts and the clashing sounds of weapons nearby.
"Let's go, we need to head over there immediately," Lu Chen said, and hurriedly left with Old Mu. The sounds were coming from the Gulf.
When Lu Chen and Old Mu arrived at the Gulf, they were shocked to see the Young Lord wielding Dual Blades, fighting while retreating, with over a hundred Garrison soldiers roaring and chasing after him.
The Young Lord must have intended to escape by boat in the Gulf, but he didn't expect that the large ship was already gone, and all the smaller boats had been punctured and sunk, half of their hulls submerged in the water.
Lu Chen instructed the fishermen to take the large ship away and told them to act according to the situation. If they successfully dealt with the bandits, they could keep the ships for their own use. If not, they should destroy them all; at least he wanted to make sure those guys would get a taste of trouble.
They guarded the outer perimeter of the island and, seeing that the battle continued without end, thought things were going poorly and ran back to sink all the boats.
When the Young Lord arrived at the Gulf and saw that all the boats had sunk, not a single one intact, he felt utterly disappointed as his last glimmer of hope was completely extinguished.
Trapped in a desperate situation, the Young Lord instead ignited a powerful fighting spirit. He let out a roar and charged back with his Dual Blades, instantly slaying two Garrison soldiers on the spot.
Seeing the Young Lord counterattack, the Garrison quickly formed a formation to surround him completely.
Lu Chen took the Demon-Slaying Sword from Old Mu's hands, jumped into the Gulf, and with a few agile movements entered the battlefield surrounded by Garrison soldiers, heading straight for the Young Lord.
Lu Chen had not practiced swordsmanship and wasn't skilled with a sword; he brought the Demon-Slaying Sword because the two Dual Blades in the Young Lord's hands were too sharp. It was unrealistic to confront such an expert empty-handed.
As Flesh spun in mid-air, Lu Chen activated his Qigong, raised the Demon-Slaying Sword, and prepared to strike down towards the Young Lord. The powerful True Qi surged through the air, leaving a long trail of energy behind.
The Young Lord was covered in blood; his eyes had lost their original brilliance and appeared somewhat cloudy. Seeing Lu Chen swinging down with the Demon-Slaying Sword, he hurriedly raised his Dual Blades to block it.
The Young Lord was already at his limit. When Lu Chen swung down with his sword infused with Qigong energy, it felt like a thousand-pound boulder crashing onto the Dual Blades. The impact pressed down hard enough to sink that section of beach where the Young Lord stood.
The Young Lord stumbled back two steps, leaving behind two deep footprints where he had just stood.
Lu Chen held his sword in one hand, striking the snake as it rose. Before Flesh could touch the ground, a Crane Demon Strike surged towards Young Lord. With a left-hand palm strike, he hit Young Lord squarely in the chest.
Lu Chen's attack was fierce and unstoppable, shattering Young Lord with a single move, without any hesitation.
The powerful Qigong energy shattered Young Lord's black attire, causing his headscarf to fly off and his long mercury-like hair to spill out. His cheeks puffed up, and he suddenly spewed a mist of blood.
Young Lord was finally injured; this single wound was enough to cost him his life.
"Protect my Flesh."
Lu Chen sat cross-legged on the ground and shouted loudly.
"Yes!" Twenty to thirty Garrison soldiers armed with spears rushed over, turning their backs to Lu Chen and forming an impenetrable circle around him, their spears pointed outward, not allowing even a fly to enter.
With such a formation guarding Flesh, it was as solid as an iron barrel. Lu Chen was not afraid of Young Lord making a desperate counterattack like a rabid dog.
Lu Chen summoned Yin Spirit Disembodiment and invoked the Xuan Yin Flying Sword. The strands of hair wrapped around his fingers immediately flew up, piercing into Young Lord's head.
Young Lord's Flesh paused for a moment before his gaze became vacant, staring at Lu Chen who was protected by the Garrison. His Dual Blades fell to the ground as he muttered, "The Garrison has hidden such a powerful expert; I have done my best."
Young Lord died, yet his body stood upright, motionless on the ground, his eyes vacant. A drop of blood slowly oozed from the center of his forehead.
"He is a war god; if he could be subdued and used by Brother Zi Zhao, it would be wonderful," Lu Chen stepped out from the Garrison, picked up the fallen Dual Blades, and murmured.
Young Lord left a deep impression on him; his Qigong realm was likely at the peak of Unity of Man, just shy of entering Divine Power Body and achieving an indestructible form.
The Divine Power Body trained bones like steel; blood would not flow. This meant that if one were to cut open the Flesh Wounds of a Divine Power Golden Body Qi Master, the blood would coagulate like mercury rather than flow freely like ordinary blood.
"What a pity for such talent!"
Lu Chen felt regretful. Young Lord's strength did not stem from his Qigong realm but from his fighting spirit. His Flesh had already perished, yet his fighting spirit remained unbroken, supporting his Flesh to stand tall; this was what made him terrifying.
High-level individuals are not war gods; only those who fight with unyielding spirit, fighting to the death, and until they are old in desolate lands can be called war gods.
At this moment, Liu Fang, Sun Zizhao, the Great Zhou Fortune King, and Governor Wang Qiao had already sailed into the Gulf and landed.
"Brother Lu Chen, you are truly impressive, worthy of your reputation for unmatched bravery. I greatly admire you," Sun Zizhao said with a smile as he approached Lu Chen.
"Brother Zizhao, consider this a gift from me to you," Lu Chen replied to Sun Zizhao.
"I have learned that this place is a supply point for the King of Qi to contact Giant Barbarian Island, which is extremely important. Now that Brother Lu Chen has taken it down in one fell swoop, this gift is indeed too great," Sun Zizhao said.
This island serves as a maritime relay point between the King of Qi and Giant Barbarian Island, and the forces of the King of Qi are fierce rivals of Sun Zizhao. With Lu Chen's actions, it was equivalent to cutting off their claws and destroying their eyes, providing significant help to Sun Zizhao.
Moreover, this operation was executed flawlessly; in a short time, no one would know that it was related to Sun Zizhao. After all, capturing the flower thief was an initiative of the government, carried out under the banner of the Great Zhou Court, and those stationed were all soldiers of Yuyang Governor Wang Qiao.
After this battle, Lu Chen achieved a great victory and established his outstanding military merit, solidifying his status in Sun Zizhao's eyes.
Governor Liu Fang of Wu Prefecture, with his protruding belly, angrily declared, "Liang Guobing's Navy territory dares to harbor filth. I must report this to the court and expose him for gross negligence."
Liu Fang seized upon Liang Guobing's weakness in the Eastern Navy and immediately wore a malicious grin on his face. The charge of negligence could at least result in Liang Guobing being docked two years' salary, even if it did not remove him from office.
