The Five Element Sect had arranged everything, and Lu Chen and the others boarded the Thunder Warship, leaving Tong Peak.
At that moment, on the Elder's Seat, the Silver-Haired Elder and the bearded elder began discussing again.
"Three hundred twenty-seven people passed; that's a pretty good number, much more than in the last two sessions. Among them, several have hidden their abilities," the bearded elder said, stroking his beard and nodding in satisfaction.
"Indeed, I have my eye on about ten individuals, including that one who used the Crazy Serpent Seven Star Classic earlier, as well as that boy with the Azure Steel Sword. Their talents are quite impressive. If it weren't for the unclear background issues, I would want to have a chat about life with one of them," the Silver-Haired Elder replied.
The bearded elder curled his lip and said, "That's the problem. It's always like this; if we don't clarify their backgrounds, we might end up teaching someone only for them to benefit others in the end."
The bearded elder squinted his eyes and looked upward. The Master’s seat was already empty, and he immediately felt a jolt of surprise. "When did Young Sovereign leave again? I didn't even notice."
The Silver-Haired Elder chuckled and responded, "Void Immortal, Void Immortal, it's all illusory. You and I are not at that level yet, so naturally we can't perceive it."
The assessment of the Inner Sect Disciples came to a close.
Lu Chen was preparing to return to the Cottage when he saw Chen Shihu, the Son of the Governor of the Seven Provinces of Luzhou, being stopped by Di Wanren and He Zai Jin. It seemed they intended to do something improper.
He Zai Jin looked troubled as he was intercepted midway. Before he could speak, Huangfu Xun arrived just in time and exclaimed sharply, "What do you two think you're doing?"
Her words were directed at Di Wanren and He Zai Jin.
Di Wanren looked at Chen Shihu and sneered coldly. "Princess, this person is ungrateful; he comes from a subordinate family in Qi Kingdom but goes against you. We intend to take care of him for you."
Huangfu Xun was very angry upon hearing this; her face flushed red and pale in turn, clearly frustrated.
"Who gave you permission to act on behalf of this Princess? Do you have my orders?" Huangfu Xun questioned sharply.
"Princess, this person is too close to Prince Fu; even I can't stand it. How could Qi Kingdom produce such a traitor?" He Zai Jin said while fanning himself elegantly.
"You two better behave yourselves and inform me before taking any action. I received a message from the king earlier that Chen Shih-Hsiung is now one of us," Huangfu Xun reprimanded.
"The prince's orders?" Di Wanren and He Zai Jin were both taken aback.
Huangfu Xun sighed and said, "It's also my fault for not telling you in time. My plan is to let Chen Shih-Hsiung play along. You both should stay calm and not disrupt my plans. This is not Qi Kingdom, nor is it your territory."
"Chen Shih-Hsiung, you may leave first," Huangfu Xun said to Chen Shihu politely. Although she was a woman, her broad-mindedness, appreciation for talent, and ability to seize opportunities made her a formidable strategist.
Chen Shihu did not respond but merely smiled coldly, then cupped his hands in salute and left quietly.
"Prince Fu has become an Inner Sect Disciple and has already taken a different path. Chen Shih-Hsiung informed me of his address long ago. According to my plan, it will be tonight."
Huangfu Xun shared her thoughts with Di Wanren and He Zai Jin. After finishing, she looked around and happened to see Lu Chen passing by fifty steps away.
Lu Chen exchanged a smile with Huangfu Xun before lowering his head and leaving.
At a distance of fifty steps, Huangfu Xun thought Lu Chen could not hear her words; however, the opposite was true. Even at a hundred steps away, Lu Chen could hear everything clearly.
Huangfu Xun intended to win over Lu Chen, so she did not harbor much suspicion. However, Di Wanren and He Zai Jin displayed expressions of disgust, wishing they could jump over and beat Lu Chen to death. But they understood Huangfu Xun's nature of using anyone for her purposes.
"It seems Prince Fu is in danger!"
Lu Chen walked confidently down the road, secretly calculating.
"My goal is to overthrow the Great Zhou Dynasty, and Prince Fu, along with Huangfu Qi and Crimson Lotus Princess Huangfu Xun, are all part of the Great Zhou Dynasty. It would be beneficial for these two to fight each other. However, Prince Fu clearly cannot compete with Huangfu Xun in the Five Element Sect and is about to be eliminated by her."
"If Prince Fu Huangfu Qi is eliminated, then Huangfu Xun will surely gain power. As her influence grows stronger, once the Great Zhou Dynasty is overthrown, she will use her talents and capable subordinates to re-establish power—essentially recreating a Great Zhou Dynasty."
Logically speaking, Lu Chen should intervene to prevent Huangfu Qi from being eliminated. However, Huangfu Xun's power was too great; even Chen Shihu had been drawn to her side. If he rashly intervened now, it would likely backfire on him, potentially jeopardizing his position within the Five Element Sect.
Counting on his fingers, Lu Chen still hadn't made up his mind as he arrived at the Cottage.
After discussing the matter of becoming an Inner Sect Disciple with Old Mu and the others, everyone was happy for him. The Lian Couple's desire for Lian Dashuang and Lian Shuang to become his disciples grew even stronger.
This time, Lu Chen did not refuse again and informed them about moving into the Cave granted by the Five Element Sect, to which the Lian Couple had no objections.
Next came the formalities of apprenticeship. Lu Chen was a year older than the Lian Family Brothers and initially wanted to refer to them as brothers, but he couldn't withstand the insistence of the Lian Couple, who spoke of things like "those who give life are parents, those who teach are masters."
In the end, Lu Chen was seated in the largest Armchair in their home, with Old Mu standing by to assist, while Lian Dashuang and Lian Shuang came over to bow.
The apprenticeship ceremony was quite solemn in these parts. The Lian Family Brothers were also compelled to kneel on the ground to present red envelopes, serve tea, and offer their apprenticeship tokens.
Lu Chen kept everything simple and let the Lian Couple handle the arrangements.
After a while, once the ceremony was completed, the Lian Family Brothers called him Master one after another, leaving Lu Chen with no choice but to accept.
After packing up his belongings, early the next morning, he set off with Old Mu and the Lian Family Brothers to the Five Element Sect.
He carried a hand token granted by the Five Element Sect. Along the way, they were questioned by Mountain Patrol Disciples, but upon showing the token, they were immediately allowed to pass. As for Old Mu and the Lian Family Brothers, since they were considered his family members, those patrolling had nothing to say.
As an Inner Sect Disciple entering the Five Element Sect, he had his own Cave and could also bring his family members along.
After walking through the mountains for two hours, Lu Chen took out a map from his pocket. This map was distributed by the Five Element Sect; every disciple who passed the assessment received one. It marked roads, high mountains, rivers, palaces, and other details quite thoroughly.
"Here is Master Tongfeng, here is Tingfeng Elder's Immortal Academy, here is Heze Peak Training Ground, here are the Five Major Meridians, and here is Qigong Pavilion."
Lu Chen pointed out each location with his finger and memorized their approximate positions. The territory of the Five Element Sect was too vast; without a map, he would eventually get lost.
Currently, Lu Chen and his companions were about halfway from the Cottage to Tong Peak of the Five Element Sect. Along the way were many unnamed peaks where they could freely reside; however, only Inner Sect Disciples were qualified for that.
After wandering around the area, Lu Chen chose a moderately high peak.
He then took Old Mu and the Lian Family Brothers up the mountain. The peak was about two to three hundred feet high, covered with lush green trees, and the air was pure. Surrounded by mountains, the environment was extremely elegant.
Upon reaching the top, they saw an artificially excavated Cave, which was very spacious and equipped with all the necessities for living.
Inside, there were even seeds available for planting vegetables and grains. This would serve as their temporary base. Lu Chen and the others immediately began to clear the land and planted all the seeds to ensure self-sufficiency in the future.
Lu Chen also named this mountain "Empty Mountain."
The reason for choosing this location was that Lu Chen needed a place to practice without being disturbed by others. As for Old Mu and the Lian Family Brothers, although they were family members, they could not cultivate Qigong martial arts from the Five Element Sect. If they were discovered by the higher-ups of the Five Element Sect, it could lead to dire consequences for Lu Chen as well.
Now that Old Mu had a solid foundation in his skills and made new progress in Flesh refinement, Lu Chen planned to teach him the Crazy Serpent Seven Star Classic. He believed that even with a poor foundation, after practicing for ten or eight years, he would at least reach a refined and spiritual level.
As for the Lian Family Brothers, Lian Dashuang followed Old Mu daily to practice Qigong, calling him Second Master, while Old Mu referred to Lu Chen as Master. This hierarchy was something Lu Chen himself found confusing.
Then there was Lian Shuang. Although he occasionally practiced Qigong, his personality was quiet. Lu Chen excluded some content from the Human Book and gave him only useful material to ponder over slowly. As the saying goes, a master leads you to the door, but cultivation depends on personal effort.
Afterward, Lu Chen had nothing else to do. A few days later, he went to the Qigong Pavilion of the Five Element Sect to borrow martial arts techniques. He was looking for Su Wutong's Five Animal Vitality Magic Technique. This book was used for Flesh refinement and wasn't particularly impressive in combat, so not many people paid attention to it.
After much effort, he finally found it in a corner, covered with a thick layer of dust, indicating that it hadn't been borrowed often.
Lu Chen found it strange that something not valued by even the Five Element Sect itself was known to Su Wutong.
Holding the handwritten copy of the Five Animal Vitality Magic Technique, Lu Chen returned to the Cave for detailed study.
The Five Animal Vitality Magic Technique consisted of five sections, each mimicking the postures of five different animals to develop pathways for Flesh refinement.
Each method focused on different parts of the Flesh related to internal organs. If one mastered all five techniques thoroughly, their Flesh would be refined to perfection.
For example, the posture of the Bear Demon strengthens the spleen, aids digestion, and exercises the waist.
The posture of the Tiger Demon nourishes essence and marrow, strengthens the waist and kidneys, and exercises the shoulders.
The posture of the Ape Demon practices body techniques, strengthens the hand bones, and trains the arms.
The posture of the Deer Demon exercises the leg bones, strengthens the skull, and trains the liver and gallbladder.
The posture of the Crane Demon cultivates the lungs, enhances qi and blood, and strengthens the leg bones.
All five animal demons' postures have the effect of training tendons and meridians. Imagine Flesh performing various movements of these animal demons, stretching and contracting repeatedly; naturally, this can strengthen the tendons.
Keeping the mental techniques firmly in mind, Lu Chen left his home and went to the back mountain of the empty valley to begin practicing the Five Animal Vitality Magic Technique.
