Introduction
On the fifth day of being a wingwoman for my best friend, the school heartthrob Jiang Muyu approached me.
"Can we call a truce? If you keep assisting, my brother's love-struck brain will be beyond saving!"
"This round counts as your win; let's both call a truce, okay?"
Later, still in that spot, we awkwardly closed our eyes and kissed, while my best friend and Jiang Muyu's buddy stood about three meters away, tilting their heads in curiosity.
They crossed their arms and stroked their chins, seriously discussing, "These two look so familiar."

On Friday afternoon, I finished getting my library card and was about to walk out of the library when I looked up to see Jiang Muyu standing at the door with his hands in his pockets and a cold expression on his face.
I tried to sidestep him, but he grabbed my arm.
Before I could react, he had me cornered against the wall at the end of the library corridor.
He leaned against the wall with both hands, seemingly enclosing me in his embrace.
The afternoon sunlight streamed through the tall windows, casting a warm glow on his profile and adding a soft golden edge to his already handsome features.
My heart raced, but I feigned calmness and met his starry gaze.
"Can we call a truce? If you keep assisting, my brother's love-struck brain will be completely hopeless!" His voice was deep and pleasant, tinged with a hint of helplessness and playful teasing, completely different from his earlier aloof demeanor.
I raised an eyebrow and smirked mischievously, "This round counts as your win; can we also call a truce?" I deliberately elongated my tone, a glimmer of provocation in my eyes.
Jiang Muyu paused for a moment before bursting into laughter; then he leaned closer to my ear and whispered softly, "Deal."
My cheeks flushed hot, red like a ripe tomato ready to burst.
"Damn! This guy is way too charming! I have to find a chance to get him back!" I silently vowed to myself.
"Shall we find somewhere to talk?" I mustered up the courage to say to him.
My best friend Zhao Mingzhu is the class beauty in our sophomore class—she has a face like a peach blossom and curves in all the right places. The line of people chasing after her could stretch from our classroom to the school gate.
Yet she is such a bookworm.
She has been secretly in love with Su Yi, the captain of the basketball team from the neighboring class, for over a year and has filled three large notebooks with love poems for him.
"Hey, do you know? The stars are in the sky, and you are in my heart."
And "I saw you today, haha! You must have been a carbonated drink in your past life, otherwise, why do I feel bubbly with joy when I see you?"
After reading her diary, I pinched my thigh hard to keep myself from laughing out loud.
When she insisted on treating me to ten ice cream-filled McDonald's cones, I agreed to be her wingman and help her win over her crush, Su Yi, within a month.
Although I've been single for many years and haven't experienced much romance, I've certainly seen enough to know how it works.
Little Su Yi must be captured!
I secretly asked my middle school classmate Ming Li from the next class about Su Yi's daily routine.
I found out that his seat is by the window in the hallway, he plays basketball after class, and he works part-time as a waiter at the McDonald's near the school.
During breaks, I would drag my best friend to stroll around the hallways, passing by the next class so she could casually tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
We would play badminton on the way to the basketball court and intentionally drop the shuttlecock when he passed by, calling for him to help pick it up.
Sure enough, on the third day, Su Yi asked my friend for her number, and they exchanged contact information.
Unexpectedly, after just two days of chatting, he had turned my friend into a lovesick fool.
Every day she would say ten things to me, and ten of them were about Su Yi.
I looked at their chat history; this guy truly lives up to his reputation as the captain of the basketball team—he's such a playboy!
Every line he sent made my friend swoon.
"Do you like eating candy? Because your smile is really sweet."
"I think you resemble a game called My World."
...
I felt my friend could bring out her diary; their cheesy lines were quite comparable.
After persistent persuasion from me, she barely managed to hold herself back from sending her collection of love notes to Su Yi.
When dealing with a guy still in the ambiguous stage of flirting, playing hard to get is always a good strategy.
So that guy has a strategist too?
We deliberately avoided crowds and chose a dessert shop that was a bit farther from school and had fewer people.
He ordered two cups of Chocolate Sundae.
Wow! Just my taste!
"Song Yu, what do you want to talk about?" He knows me.
"Is it you who taught your brother to teach shooting step by step, take my best friend to rank up in Honor of Kings, and always say some cheesy lines before bed?"
I leaned back in my chair, slightly reclining, arms crossed, watching him warily.
With just these few tricks, my best friend has already been charmed into a smitten mess, unable to hold back her feelings.
Jiang Muyu rested his arm on the table, gently stirring the ice cream with a spoon. The veins on the back of his hand were prominent, his fingers long and clean with rounded nails, looking very easy to hold.
I thought to myself that holding hands would definitely feel secure.
"Is it you who taught Zhao Mingzhu to flaunt in front of my brother every day, occasionally toss a little note, and pretend not to know him when they see each other in the club?"
"The first time he wanted to confess, he didn't expect Zhao Mingzhu to politely say hello and then just pull you away."
The first time he actively approached a girl?
I didn't believe it. I raised an eyebrow at him, expressing my doubt.
"Don't be fooled by how all those girls rush to him on the court; he never accepts water from them."
Alright, I’ll tentatively believe him.
Seeing my expression soften, he added, "I'm begging you, don't let your friends keep being so ambiguous with him. Do you know how scary it is when he stops playing basketball and just grins like an idiot? We've already lost eight three-pointers to your class!"
"I really can't take it anymore; if this continues, I'm afraid I'll get beaten up by my teammates." Jiang Muyu leaned slightly towards me, blinking pitifully as if trying to charm me.
Oh no, I felt like something was about to burst forth inside me.
