This time, the father and son chatted for a long time, until the afternoon. Ye Mingshang chuckled, "Old man, how long has it been since we last sparred?"
Underworld River glared, "Hmph! Brat, don't think that just because you've become an immortal, you can challenge me. You still have a long way to go!"
"Hehe, how will I know if I don't give it a try?"
On another day, the entire Dragon Emperor Mountain Range echoed with continuous booming sounds. Even the weakest of beasts could feel the chilling vibrations.
It wasn't just here; even the nearby villages and towns outside the mountain range were trembling.
One by one, they hid in corners, praying for the earthquake to end soon while wondering why this one lasted so long.
Only some elderly villagers claimed that it was the Dragon King's wrath.
However, young people would not believe such words; they considered it mere superstition of the older generation.
As the sun set and rose again, and then another evening arrived, the terrifying rumblings gradually subsided.
Looking around, the area encompassing Dragon Emperor Mountain Range, Black Dragon Lake, and Underworld River had turned into ruins.
Mountains had collapsed, lakes had dried up—a scene reminiscent of an apocalypse.
In mid-air, two figures of light intertwined. Each time they made contact, there was a thunderous roar that shattered nearby rocks into dust.
"Haha! Old man, how does it feel to be chased?"
In the air, a young figure flashed by with a cheerful yet smug laugh.
"Hmph!"
Suddenly, a cold snort echoed, causing pain in people's eardrums.
"Don't be too naive. With your current abilities, you still have ten thousand years to go before you can catch up to me!"
A middle-aged man with a commanding presence appeared, surrounded by an overwhelming aura of demonic energy; it was the Underworld River in human form.
"Don't just talk big; I haven't even shown my true abilities yet."
"Do you really think I've revealed my true abilities?"
The middle-aged man snorted coldly and then began to move as if dancing, the surrounding energy swirling around him, dense and tangible.
"Roar!!!"
A high-pitched Dragon's Roar erupted, spreading far and wide. All the monsters that heard this sound looked on in awe.
Similarly, the barrier did not completely contain the sound wave imbued with the demon king's power; it shattered after a few moments, allowing the sound to travel outward.
People within a hundred miles heard this sound.
"What is that noise?!" a Youth suddenly exclaimed in confusion.
An elderly man in the village, over a hundred years old, spoke with reverence, "This is the Dragon King manifesting; this is the voice of the Dragon King."
"Old man, you're just getting old and confused," another young man resembling a Ruffian spat dismissively.
"Hmph!" The old man snorted.
"You little brat, what do you know? Do you even know why our village is called Fulong Village?"
"Isn't it because someone killed a crocodile back in the day? You old folks are so foolish to mistake a crocodile for a dragon." The Ruffian shrugged helplessly.
"You don't know anything!" The old man was agitated and scolded.
"What crocodile? That was a dragon! A real dragon. And it wasn't just anyone who defeated the dragon; true dragon might is beyond your comprehension as a little kid!"
"What about the official explanation?"
"That's all official nonsense! Our Fulong doesn't mean to subdue, but rather to lie in wait."
"I still remember what my grandfather said about it; I was just a month old at the time. Suddenly, a giant dragon, ten zhang long, descended from the sky!"
"A dragon? What kind? Did it have wings?"
"Don't you dare bring those foreign Japanese Devils into this and tarnish our Chinese Dragon!” The old man was immediately furious, puffing his beard and glaring.
"Alright, alright, please don't get angry. Continue with your story. What happened after they discovered the dragon?" Ruffian was also captivated and couldn't help but want to know more.
"If you want to know, then listen carefully and don't interrupt." The old man shot him an annoyed glance.
"Yes, yes."
After taking a puff of his dry tobacco, the old man's eyes showed signs of reminiscing: "The dragon appeared very quickly and suddenly, and it was heavily injured."
"Injured?!"
"That's right. It looked like it had fought with someone; the wounds on its body were quite uniform, like cuts from swords, and there were some charred marks that didn't seem to be from fire but rather from lightning."
"You mean it was injured by someone who could wield lightning?!" Ruffian exclaimed in surprise.
"That's just a guess; at least those wounds looked similar. But at that time, everyone was as shocked as you are. First, they were shocked that dragons really exist; second, they were astonished that the legendary omnipotent dragon could be so severely wounded."
"We not only respect dragons but also fear them. After all, in legends, they are god-like beings that can ride the winds and swallow clouds, controlling storms in their domain."
"When the dragon appeared, many people just watched from a distance and didn't dare approach. Only my grandfather had the courage to walk up close when he saw the dragon meant no harm."
"My grandfather told me that he seemed to hear the dragon speaking to him. No, that voice appeared directly in his mind; it wasn't spoken out loud and transmitted to his ears."
Ruffian suddenly said a phrase: "Transmitting Voice into the Mind."
"Exactly! I also heard that Old Dragon tell him it needed water. So my grandfather rallied the village's big Fellows to pour water on the dragon."
"Watering? That would surely cause the wound to get infected."
"If you don't understand, don't speak carelessly. That's a dragon; it’s not like us humans. Dragons thrive in water and depend on it for survival. Water won't make it uncomfortable; instead, it will provide nourishment and help with its injuries. At least after being watered, the Old Dragon's condition improved significantly."
"What happened next?"
"Not long after, the Old Dragon took off, its body shaking as it flew into the sky. Later, there were reports of someone seeing something flying in the sky, but it was just a flash, and they couldn't see it clearly.
However, shortly after, a Dragon Roar echoed from the Dragon Emperor Mountain Range, similar to what we hear now. Then some claimed to have seen a massive black dragon flying among the clouds, over a hundred feet long, as if it were battling someone."
"What was the outcome of the battle?" A young man appeared out of nowhere, captivated by the story and unable to resist asking.
"That’s unknown. Such beings are beyond our comprehension as mere mortals."
"Was that black dragon the one that fell into our village? Wasn't it only ten feet long? How did it become over a hundred feet? Did they make a mistake?"
"No, it's not the same dragon," the old man shook his head.
"Ah! Are there other dragons out there?"
"Certainly. Just like we don't know that dragons exist in this world, not having seen them doesn't mean they aren't real." (To be continued.)
