The woman finally raised her head and saw Ye Mingshang standing not far away.
Releasing her sincerity, she put her hands behind her back and circled around Ye Mingshang, making him feel quite awkward.
"Hey! Haven't we met somewhere before?"
Huh?! Sturdy Man was startled and hurried over to grab his wife's arm.
"Wife! I'm still here! Even if you're flirting with a man, you can't do it in front of me!"
"Go to hell! You're the one flirting with men, your whole family flirts with men!"
Uh...
Realizing her loose tongue, the woman cleared her throat to ease the awkwardness.
"Since you've saved my son Cheng Yi, we can't just stand here. Come on, let's have a meal together."
Watching the woman lead her child inside first, Sturdy Man cautiously leaned in to whisper to Ye Mingshang.
"I’m telling you, don’t think about my wife just because you find her pretty. Even if you saved my son, that’s not allowed."
Seeing the serious warning in his expression, Ye Mingshang couldn't help but want to laugh. He never expected this man to be so afraid of his wife; he was quite different from his memory of Li Ge.
"Don't worry, I have a family too," Ye Mingshang reassured him.
Sturdy Man finally felt relieved and laughed, "Haha! Since that's the case, I can relax. Come on, let me treat you to my treasured century-old brew."
"Why are you dawdling? Come eat!"
Upon hearing the woman's scolding, Sturdy Man immediately became as obedient as a mouse seeing a cat.
Looking at the table full of dishes, Ye Mingshang felt a sense of warmth.
There were only four of them—three adults and one child—but the table was filled with an abundance of food. Unlike what they usually ate, it was all lavish meats and fish, just like the exaggerated depictions in comics.
There was enough food here to feed twenty people.
The woman held a small bowl and hardly ate anything, while the other two devoured their meals like hungry wolves.
“&…%¥@(*…&” Sturdy Man mumbled incoherently.
“Swallow your food before you speak,” Ye Mingshang said with a twitching mouth.
After gulping down a mouthful of meat, Sturdy Man asked, “Brother Ye, why aren’t you eating? Don’t you like it?”
“No, no, I’m eating,” he replied.
As they ate, the woman kept staring at Ye Mingshang, making him feel quite uncomfortable. Noticing this odd behavior from his wife, Sturdy Man also sensed something was off.
“Wife! I’m still here! Can you not be so indulgent?!” Sturdy Man exclaimed as he slammed his hand on the table and stood up.
The woman glanced at him and said, "You idiot, didn't you notice he looks very familiar?"
"Familiar?"
At this point, the Sturdy Man began to seriously examine Ye Mingshang.
"Now that you mention it, he does look quite familiar, but where have I seen him before?"
Thinking about it, the Sturdy Man looked at Ye Mingshang and asked, "Do we know each other from before?"
Ye Mingshang smiled and said, "Li Ge, you really don't remember me?"
"You..."
The Sturdy Man furrowed his brows as memories buried deep in his mind were slowly being unearthed, a once-blurry shadow gradually becoming clearer.
Holding his head and occasionally tapping it a few times, a fragment of memory from the distant past was slowly being recalled.
After trying for a while, the Sturdy Man had a vague idea but still wasn't quite sure.
"Brother Ye, may I ask your full name?"
Ye Mingshang smiled again and replied, "Ye Ming Shang."
Boom!
A thunderous roar echoed in his mind, and a torrent of memories surged forth, bringing with it a series of blurred images that gradually became clear.
Moments later, he stood up, his resolute face filled with astonishment.
"It’s you! It’s really you! Are you still alive?!"
The people of Cloud Mist Wonderland were all souls from the Celestial Abode, having come here since the massacre by the demon clan over a thousand years ago. Many things had been forgotten over time.
When they first arrived, they were all quite surprised, but soon some of the previous seniors came to inform them about the situation here.
Before long, they gradually got used to this place; however, they never found the young man who had lived with them for several years. Later, they learned that only the deceased souls from Celestial Abode could come here.
Others, even if they lived there, could not come here like they did.
During that time, they felt quite sad; after all, they had developed feelings after living together for so long. But time has a way of dulling everything. As time slowly passed, those few years became just a small part of their long lives and would gradually fade away.
"Li Ge, how have you been all these years?" Ye Mingshang replied with a smile.
Boom!
Once again, it was like thunder striking him. He could hardly believe that over a thousand years had passed and he could still see an old friend.
He remembered when that little Fellow first arrived at Celestial Abode. Although he had considerable talent, he could not compare to their extraordinary physiques.
At that time, it was he who taught Ye Mingshang—teaching him how to cultivate and how to hunt. Their relationship had always been very good.
Unknowingly, the wine jar on the table had no more space, and the Sturdy Man was already red-faced from drinking. However, his wife said nothing and took the child outside.
“Mom, what’s wrong with Dad? He seems to know that uncle, but the uncle said he is from outside,” Cheng Yi asked his mother in confusion.
The woman smiled gently, ruffled Cheng Yi's hair, and said, “Well, that goes back a long time. How long has it been? It seems like over a thousand years. Back then…”
As Xiaocheng Yi listened to his mother’s story, he unknowingly became engrossed in it, feeling joy for the characters’ happiness and sorrow for their sadness.
When he heard about the brutality of the final battle, he couldn't help but cry with red eyes. Even this usually gentle clan felt a surge of killing intent.
Noticing her child's condition, the woman gently stroked his head, and a soft power flowed down, washing away his anger.
“Mom, who were those people? Why were they so evil that they killed everyone?” Cheng Yi asked with tears still in his eyes.
Gently caressing Cheng Yi's head, there was a hint of concealed anger in the woman's eyes.
“I don’t know either. I only know that those people were very powerful, dressed entirely in black, and they left no corpses after death. They could even fly. I don’t know much more; I was too weak back then and couldn’t hold on for long.”
“Then Mom, how come Uncle Ye can come here now? Didn’t he say he couldn’t come here? Isn’t it only our clan members who can enter? And why can he live so long here and looks younger than Dad?”
(To be continued.)
