"Hey~ running around like this is not what a good child does."
Zhao Bin, who was already in despair and ready to accept reality, suddenly heard a magnetic Male Voice beside him. In front of him, the fierce Gray Wolf was being held by a Black-Clad Youth, struggling with its limbs, trying to break free.
Zhao Bin was taken aback, unsure where this sudden person came from. He looked somewhat familiar, as if he was the driver of the same vehicle as himself.
"Ugh~" The Gray Wolf let out a low growl, its head firmly gripped by a hand, unable to turn back, it could only struggle desperately in an attempt to escape from the opponent's grasp.
In fact, not only did Zhao Bin fail to see clearly, even Wei Dong, who was in the tree with the best view, couldn't understand what was happening. He only saw a shadow darting out suddenly, followed by witnessing such an incredible scene; everything felt like a dream.
Although surprised, Zhao Bin quickly realized the situation and hurriedly expressed his gratitude.
"Th-thank you."
Having narrowly escaped death, Zhao Bin felt a surge of joy. At that moment, he should have been moved to tears, but the dramatic rescue left him momentarily stunned.
"Ugh~"
Glancing at the Gray Wolf that was howling and struggling in his hand, Ye Mingshang frowned and said in a deep voice, "Shut up!"
Crack!
With a forceful grip accompanied by the sound of bones breaking, the Gray Wolf's eyes widened before slowly losing their light. Its limbs went limp, no longer struggling.
Casually tossing the Gray Wolf onto the ground without any movement, it was already dead.
Zhao Bin swallowed hard, internally screaming, "What the hell! He crushed it! Did he really crush it? Is this even a human hand? Am I seeing things? Is this a dream? No way, I can't be going crazy! He actually crushed the wolf's skull?! The hardest part of the wolf's body was crushed by one hand?! Wait! This doesn't seem like just one person's strength!"
Of course, Ye Mingshang had no idea what he was thinking. Seeing that this young man didn't heed warnings and recklessly ran into the forest almost falling prey to the wolf, Ye Mingshang felt somewhat angry.
Smack!
A slap landed on Zhao Bin's head, nearly bringing him to tears.
"At your age, still playing around? Do you think this place is safe to run around in? You could have died, do you know that?!" Ye Mingshang glared and scolded.
Zhao Bin was startled by his demeanor and quickly shouted, "Yes, I'm sorry!"
Hearing the response, Ye Mingshang nodded, then paused. Looking at his palm, he wondered why he had hit Zhao Bin's head. Did he mistake him for Joan? Sigh~ It felt off; hitting Joan's head was just more natural.
"Achoo!"
Somewhere, Joan suddenly sneezed, rubbed her nose, and wondered, "Who is scolding me?"
With pursed lips, Ye Mingshang shot a glare at Zhao Bin and said irritably, "This is all your fault for wasting my time. Hurry up; I have urgent matters to attend to."
Turning around and taking only a couple of steps, Ye Mingshang stopped again. Behind him, Zhao Bin wore a puzzled expression at his sudden halt.
He couldn't see it, but up in the tree with a wide view, Wei Dong could see clearly. Not far away in the bushes, pairs of green eyes glimmered like fireflies.
"How annoying~"
Zhao Bin curiously poked his head out and stared for a long time. Suddenly breaking into a cold sweat, he hurriedly ducked back behind Ye Mingshang.
Owooo~
From the bushes emerged several robust Gray Wolves, growling softly as they displayed their dominance.
Seeing the wolf pack, Wei Dong, who was about to climb down from the tree, tightened his grip on the trunk and gulped nervously. He looked down in terror and thought, "Do they really want to wipe us out? I don't want to die yet! Owooo~~~"
Hiding behind Ye Mingshang, Zhao Bin felt his heart sink to the bottom. He thought, "It's over! I just escaped death and now I'm walking into a wolf's den. With so many wolves around, even this big guy can't handle it. Sigh! If I had known, I wouldn't have come in."
"Owooo!~"
"Aw!"
The wolf pack growled softly, occasionally barking like dogs, signaling an impending attack.
Ye Mingshang frowned, "So noisy."
"Awoo!"
With a low growl, a wolf charged forward, leading the others in a rush. The two young men trembled in fear at the sight of over a dozen Gray Wolves, feeling that their time was up.
"Blind fools, get lost!"
Ye Mingshang glared and shouted. Suddenly, time seemed to freeze as an invisible black light radiated outward from Ye Mingshang, stirring the flowers and grass, rustling the leaves, and ruffling the fur of the wolves.
"Awoo!~"
"Awoo!~"
In an instant, the advancing Gray Wolves turned tail in terror, emitting whimpering sounds like frightened dogs. One by one, they fled as if trying to escape some natural disaster, fearing they wouldn't make it in time.
The wolf pack ran away at an incredible speed, disappearing almost in the blink of an eye, leaving only the shaking bushes that still rustled as a sign of their presence.
What just happened?!
The two young men were baffled; just moments ago, the wolves had seemed so fierce, ready to devour them down to the bones. How could they be scared off by a single roar? Could it be that the aura of dominance from this guy scared them away?
With a sigh, Ye Mingshang called out, "Let's go."
"Oh, oh~" Zhao Bin snapped back to reality and hurried to follow.
Wei Dong, still perched in the tree, remained in a daze, watching as the two were about to leave without fully grasping what had just occurred.
"Are you planning to stay up there for a lifetime?" Ye Mingshang scolded.
Wei Dong finally came to his senses and hurriedly jumped down from the tree, quickly following behind.
In the jungle, the three of them walked in silence, with only the sound of rustling footsteps and occasional bird calls, creating a strange atmosphere.
After a short while, Wei Dong suddenly spotted a broken thorn branch and exclaimed, "This is it! This is the mark I made."
"Stop shouting!" Ye Mingshang turned around and glared at him.
Wei Dong shrank back and said sheepishly, "I made marks along the way, but after running around several times, I couldn't find my way back. I might have gotten it wrong..."
Ye Mingshang replied calmly, "Don't worry, I remember the way."
The two dared not speak and closely followed Ye Mingshang's pace, afraid of losing track.
Not long after, Wei Dong spotted another mark—a cross drawn on a tree. In his memory, passing this spot meant they would continue to circle around; no matter what happened, they would be fine.
"I wonder if he can really lead us out?" Wei Dong thought to himself.
(To be continued.)
