"What's going on with you going down there? How did you suddenly get chased by that thing?" Ye Mingshang asked.
Upon hearing this, Sharkman blushed. "This really isn't my fault. I didn't expect such a big Fish Monster to be down there. I was just catching water ghosts when suddenly this thing appeared, swimming faster than me. You saw how big it is; I can't fight it. Not everyone is like you..."
"Stop rambling and ask it what it knows," Ye Mingshang said with a dark expression. From the moment the Fish Monster attacked them after seeing the water ghost, he felt there must be a connection between the two. Unfortunately, while the monster was powerful, it couldn't speak, so he had to leave it to Sharkman, who was also a creature of the water.
After some encouragement and a lot of noise...
Sharkman communicated with the Fish Monster for quite a while, punching and kicking it. Finally, after the Fish Monster let out a few mournful cries, Sharkman floated back over joyfully.
"Master, this Fish Monster said that it has several friends who are the bosses of this water area. They have raised all the nearby water ghosts as their subordinates and ordered them to catch live meat for them in exchange for fish eggs as payment."
"Fish eggs? Are they special?" Ye Mingshang asked.
Upon hearing this, Sharkman floated over and kicked the Fish Monster a few more times before retrieving a fish egg from underneath its body. It was about the size of an ostrich egg and translucent with a golden hue.
Ye Mingshang touched the fish egg; it was soft. He sniffed it and detected not only a faint fishy smell but also a fragrant aroma.
"There are indeed some active substances in here that could help creatures like mountain spirits and wild monsters in their cultivation," Ye Mingshang said after inspecting it.
"I didn't expect such a low-intelligence monster to engage in trade, but there seem to be too many water ghosts," Zheng Guoxing remarked.
Sharkman nodded. "That's right; most of these water ghosts are actually artificially created by them."
"Artificially created? What do you mean?"
"It's like this: they first gathered all the water ghosts from nearby waters and made them drag people underwater to assimilate them. However, they themselves do not reincarnate, which is why their numbers keep increasing," Sharkman explained.
"But once a water ghost finds a substitute, it will be forced to reincarnate. How can they still linger?" the old man questioned.
"It must be because of these fish eggs," Ye Mingshang said.
Sharkman nodded again. "Exactly. While these fish eggs can enhance their strength and improve their cultivation, they also lock their souls from reincarnation and further diminish their already low intelligence, turning them completely into puppets that can be manipulated."
What a ruthless tactic! A Fish Monster can actually use such means to create a large number of water ghosts for its command. This is truly extraordinary. I have never encountered this type of event before; could it be due to the Blood Moon?
Thinking this, Ye Mingshang instructed Sharkman to dive again, clearing the remaining water ghosts while luring those Fish Monsters' accomplices as well. However, upon hearing this, Sharkman shook his head vigorously. "No way! They're so powerful; I can't beat them, and I'm not as fast as they are. If they eat me, you won't even have time to save me. I'm not going; I don't want to die."
Ye Mingshang glanced speechlessly at Zheng Guoxing beside him, who awkwardly smiled, feeling embarrassed.
Ye Mingshang was very strong. If those Fish Monsters' accomplices dared to fight him, they would definitely be defeated in one blow. The problem was that they wouldn't engage him in battle. If it weren't for the previous trick that made the Fish Monster jump out, they probably wouldn't have had the chance to capture it. These fellows were bullies who preyed on the weak; they would never force themselves against someone stronger.
"How about this? I'll give you a portion of my magic power, which will temporarily boost your strength several times. That way, you won't have to fear them anymore," Ye Mingshang said with a shrug.
Sharkman's eyes lit up. "Great! That works!"
Ye Mingshang pointed at himself repeatedly, forming several complex seals while murmuring incantations. Soon, a point of light appeared in his hand, gradually growing larger until it stopped at the size of a fist.
"Now!" Ye Mingshang called out lightly and struck it onto Sharkman.
Sharkman trembled at first, feeling somewhat unaccustomed, then a faint halo appeared around his body before slowly fading away.
Excitedly, Sharkman clenched his fists, feeling filled with power as if he could move mountains and fill seas. He looked at Ye Mingshang with a somewhat provocative gaze. However, after realizing that Ye Mingshang had slightly relaxed his guard, he suddenly shivered and smiled brightly before diving into the water.
Not long after Sharkman entered the water, Ye Mingshang's face turned pale. Zheng Guoxing hurriedly supported him and asked about his condition.
Ye Mingshang broke free from his grip, pressed down with both hands, and took a few breaths. After several breaths, his pale face returned to its rosy color as if nothing had happened.
"What happened to you just now?" the old man asked with concern.
Ye Mingshang shook his head. "It's nothing; just some side effects. I'll be fine with some luck."
This time they didn't wait long; after about ten minutes or so, bubbles began to rise from the surface of the water as if it were boiling.
With a loud splash, a huge sound broke through the water's surface.
In front was Sharkman’s terrified face as he fled in panic, and behind him was an Octopus that was fierce and menacing.
Oh? There's an Octopus too?!
"Help!" Sharkman shouted desperately as he floated over.
The Octopus, however, was quite confident and had even chased him to the shore. Yet, Ye Mingshang did not rush to save him; after all, he wanted the Octopus to lure its other companions onto the shore.
"Is Big Mouth going to be okay?" Zheng Guoxing asked with concern.
"It's fine. With the magic I gave him, even if he can't win, he won't die anytime soon," Ye Mingshang said, lighting a cigarette and appearing to enjoy the spectacle.
As Sharkman ran for his life, he regretted his earlier arrogance. If he had known better, he wouldn't have provoked them!
It turned out that Sharkman had just received Ye Mingshang's magical support, which had increased his strength several times. The sudden surge of power gave him a false sense of invincibility, making him feel like he could move mountains and fill seas. However, an illusion is just an illusion; despite his enhanced strength, his starting point was too low. Even with his newfound power, he was far from being a match for such Water Monsters. If it weren't for his good escape skills, he might not have made it to the shore at all.
"Ugh!" the Fish Monster cried out, waving its two tentacles like arms while using the other six as legs to run swiftly on the ground.
However, once on land, Sharkman, being a spirit, clearly had the advantage. No matter how hard the Octopus chased him, it could never quite close the distance.
Faster, faster...
Ye Mingshang waited anxiously, feeling like every second stretched into an eternity. He was eager for the other Water Monsters to come up so he could catch them all in one go.
