After thinking it through and giving a stern warning, Ye Mingshang still praised his actions, emphasizing the importance of rewards and punishments. He said, "Those who cultivate must live freely. After ten years of honing a sword, one should strive to rectify injustices, even if it means helping a single sheep."
However, Joan, that coward, who had just been scared like a child, immediately became elated upon receiving praise, prompting Ye Mingshang to let him taste the "familiar flavor" again.
Ye Mingshang went next door, and Joan followed out, clutching his head and grinning. Seeing this spectacle made the fat guy start to mock him. Watching this pair of oddballs, Ye Mingshang couldn't help but sigh, "What a pair of good buddies."
Having just eaten not long ago, Ye Mingshang was already quite full but decided to take a stroll to digest. The two insisted on following him, so he let them tag along.
With nothing much to do, they wandered around the school. It had been over a month since he last returned, and he actually missed it. As he looked at the various young men and women on campus, a wave of youthful energy washed over him; however, the beautiful scene was disrupted by the antics of the two behind him.
"Hello, beautiful! My name is Unprincipled; you can call me Big Guy. I draw daily fortunes and found that we are destined to meet. How about we find a quiet place to discuss our life ideals?" The fat guy dashed out as soon as he spotted a beauty, laughing mischievously while slicking back his hair.
The girl left with an expression of disgust, but the fat guy didn’t give up and continued searching for his next target. Joan was also busy; whenever he saw a girl, he would invite her to their dormitory for fun, scaring them away in droves. Just as Joan sighed and lamented about people's lack of taste these days, a woman towering at nearly two meters tall like an Iron Tower approached with heavy steps. She slapped Joan on the shoulder with such force that it nearly knocked him down and spoke in a voice like a man’s: "Kid, why don't you come play in our dorm?"
Joan turned around and shouted "Monster!" before sprinting away as if chased by something terrifying—his speed could rival that of any Olympic athlete.
The Iron Tower-like woman snorted disdainfully and remarked, "This disgusting man really has no taste," before striding away with powerful steps.
Ye Mingshang couldn't help but marvel at this new species that had appeared here. Soon after, the fat guy returned, panting heavily and looking terrified. "Luckily I ran fast enough; otherwise, that Mother Kong would have caught me to be her captive husband!"
Ye Mingshang glanced at him with disinterest and continued walking forward. As he reached the entrance of the gymnasium, he suddenly heard a loud shout: "Ye Mingshang! Come face me in a duel!"
Suddenly, a muscular man in tight clothing jumped out. His well-defined muscles were comparable to those of a bodybuilder, and his height was almost on par with Mother Kong.
Ye Mingshang couldn’t be bothered to look at him; without even glancing at the long leg aimed at him, he grabbed the ankle and effortlessly tossed him aside, landing perfectly in a nearby trash can with a thud.
"…&*%&*" The trash can shook as strange sounds emanated from within.
The people around looked on without much shock, as if they were already used to such scenes, only glancing a bit longer before moving on. A few who found it amusing took pictures with smiles on their faces.
The chubby guy didn’t even glance at the muscular man who had been thrown into the trash can; instead, he ran off with a smirk to flirt with the onlookers. Ye Mingshang ignored him and left, appearing as if he didn’t know the guy at all.
After wandering around casually for a while, he sat down on a bench by the roadside, watching the crowd and the scenery of the campus, holding a cup of hot coffee in his hands, feeling quite relaxed.
“Ye Mingshang, you’re here!” A pleasant voice came from nearby as the cute and lively Haitang approached.
“You're here too,” Ye Mingshang smiled.
“Yeah, I arrived the day before yesterday. I went to the dorm to find you but you weren’t there. I was wondering when you would come back, and unexpectedly ran into you while wandering around.” She sat down beside Ye Mingshang with a smile, clearly in a good mood.
“I just got here this afternoon. I’m just wandering around since I have nothing else to do,” Ye Mingshang nodded.
Haitang sat quietly for a moment before asking, “What are you looking at?”
Ye Mingshang calmly replied, “I’m observing life.”
“Life?”
“Yeah, look at these young kids; isn’t this the most youthful time of their lives? They come here for knowledge, just like we continuously learn various things in life.”
Haitang pouted and said, “That sounds so profound and reasonable; some of it I don’t understand.”
Ye Mingshang chuckled, “Of course you don’t understand because I’m just making it up.”
“Wow! You actually tricked me. Hmph! I won’t talk to you anymore.” Haitang pretended to be angry, pouting and turning her head away as if she didn’t want to speak to him.
Ye Mingshang only smiled and did not try to comfort her, as he knew she was not really angry. Although their relationship was somewhat ambiguous, they were not a couple, and Ye Mingshang was still unwilling to take that step.
Sure enough, after a while, Haitang noticed that Ye Mingshang was quietly watching the crowd in front of him. She felt a slight sense of disappointment but quickly perked up again, silently accompanying him in watching.
Time passed quickly, and it was soon after six in the evening. Ye Mingshang had eaten a lot at lunch and was not hungry at all, but Haitang insisted that he accompany her for dinner. Originally, Ye Mingshang wanted to eat at the school cafeteria, which had a nice environment and good food. However, Haitang insisted on going to a newly opened restaurant two kilometers away from the school. Unable to refuse her, Ye Mingshang agreed. But when they arrived at the restaurant's entrance and saw the pink-blue sign, he frowned.
"What's wrong?" Haitang asked.
Ye Mingshang furrowed his brow and said, "Are you sure you want to come to this place?"
"Of course! Why do you ask?" Haitang replied, puzzled.
"But... this is a Couple Restaurant," Ye Mingshang said awkwardly.
Haitang made a sly expression and said, "I don't care; you promised me we would come here."
Thus, Ye Mingshang reluctantly followed Haitang into the Couple Restaurant. Some men who were not very satisfied with their partners or were frustrated by unrequited love looked at Ye Mingshang's expression and felt like punching him.
Throughout the meal, Ye Mingshang hardly spoke, mostly just blankly sipping his drink, which made Haitang anxious. She pouted from time to time. A man who had just failed in confessing his feelings and was about to leave noticed her cute demeanor and suddenly felt energized. After tidying up his appearance, he smiled confidently:
"Excuse me, miss, may I..." Before he could finish his sentence, Haitang interrupted him: "You're the miss! Your whole family is full of misses!"
The man was taken aback by her sudden retort and choked on his words. After regaining his composure, he said, "Beautiful lady, may I have the honor of inviting you to dinner?"
Haitang didn't even look at him and simply replied lightly, "No."
The man was momentarily stunned, feeling a bit out of place and embarrassed. As he looked around in confusion, he spotted Ye Mingshang, who appeared quite docile. After comparing his size to that of Both Sides, his confidence surged. He slammed his hand down on the chair, lowered his body to feign ferocity, and said, "Kid, I'll give you a thousand bucks to get out of this seat."
Ye Mingshang remained expressionless but inwardly sighed, "There are idiots every year, but this year seems particularly abundant." He couldn't be bothered to waste words with the man and directly released some of his aura. His gaze instantly became sharp, causing the man to tremble. "Say another word, and I'll kill you. Get lost!"
"Ah!" The man was so frightened that he fell to the ground, his eyes wide with terror and breathing rapid. People nearby were puzzled; they never expected such a big man to be so cowardly, scared into this state by just two sentences after he had been acting so tough moments ago.
Surrounding onlookers cast disdainful glances at him. However, the man was too preoccupied to notice; in that instant, he felt as if he had faced the most terrifying thing in the world, as if confronted by a prehistoric beast that could swallow him whole in an instant.
"Ah! Help!" The man exaggeratedly shouted as he ran out, followed by a waiter yelling, "Come back! You haven't paid yet!"
Seeing this scene, Haitang couldn't help but laugh. She knew Ye Mingshang was extraordinary and must have used some trickery. Still, she found the situation too amusing to hold back her laughter.
For everyone present, this incident was merely a joke. However, it inadvertently helped a young man successfully confess his feelings. At that moment, the young man was trying to express his feelings to a girl he liked. His shy voice was barely audible, but the girl was drawn in by him and giggled while covering her mouth. She heard Boy speaking but didn't catch what he said; she simply nodded in agreement.
When Boy saw the girl respond positively, he was overjoyed. Excitedly, he hugged her and pressed his lips against hers under her surprised gaze. Applause and cheers erupted nearby. After a long kiss, the girl blushed and playfully scolded him, "Really now, why are you in such a hurry? I wasn't prepared at all." Boy just smiled foolishly without saying anything.
If the fleeing man knew that his embarrassing behavior led to a couple successfully getting together, he wouldn't know whether to be furious or not. He had failed in his confession while an originally doomed pair succeeded instead. To be honest, it was quite unfortunate for him; however, that's just fate! There's nothing to be done...
The appearance of this unfortunate fellow was merely a small interlude; everyone resumed their activities as usual. Yet it provided each witness with an extra topic for conversation over tea and meals. That Buddy became somewhat of a minor sensation and an object of discussion among many.
As for his unintentional act, it could be seen as doing a good deed in disguise. If good deeds bring good rewards, perhaps he'll succeed in his next confession. Regardless, let's wish him well—this unfortunate man.
