Yin Yang Demon Suppression
On the other side, the villagers who woke up from different places were initially a bit confused. It felt as if they had slept for a long time, as if they had died once. The loss of vitality felt like losing their lifespan; if it had lasted any longer, they might have gone directly to the Underworld.
Due to their varying physical conditions, the villagers gradually came to their senses after differing lengths of time. They remembered feeling extremely unwell, as if they were about to die, and then everything went black, leaving them unaware of what happened next. Now, however, they felt that aside from being a bit weak, there was nothing else wrong.
Thinking the incident was sudden, many believed they were alone in their experience until some began chatting and realized that their previous sensations were not unique. Once the news spread, everyone was shocked. They discovered that the entire village had experienced this strange illness simultaneously, feeling as if they were dying!
This revelation sent panic through the villagers, who speculated whether everyone had contracted some bizarre disease. It wasn't until someone suggested it might be related to ghosts or monsters that they began to connect the dots.
Indeed, wasn't there a Zombie that Master Ye had chased away a few days ago? Could this disturbance also be caused by those creatures?
"Look over there!" Suddenly, someone shouted while pointing at a mountain.
"Giant Pole, what are you shouting about?!"
"Look over there! What is that on the mountain?"
As everyone turned their gaze, they were instantly shocked; it appeared that there was a palace shimmering with golden light on the mountain!
"Did you see that clearly? Doesn’t it look like a palace?"
"Yes, it really does look like a palace. It's shining brightly, just like it's made of gold!"
"How come we've never seen it before? It can't be an illusion, right?"
"There’s no way the whole village could have the same illusion; that’s just ridiculous."
"But everyone in the village fainted together before."
...
The few people around Ye Mingshang naturally did not know about their discussion, but they could guess the villagers' reactions upon waking up and seeing the palace. Perhaps some villagers would be unable to resist coming to explore for treasures. However, that was beyond their concern; whether there were any substantial treasures here or not was irrelevant. Even if there were, those ordinary people would not be able to take anything away. It would be good enough if they didn't lose their lives, but that was no longer their responsibility.
When Shi Yi returned to the village, a crowd of villagers surrounded him, and upon learning the details of what had happened, they were immediately filled with gratitude. Having witnessed the divine abilities of Ye Mingshang and Nie Jin during their battle, no one doubted them.
Surviving a great disaster made everyone very happy. That night, the village celebrated by slaughtering chickens and cows. Although there was no custom of dancing around a bonfire, everyone still joyfully sang and danced. Some families even brought out their treasured wines from years past, filling the air with laughter and cheer.
During this feast, Dunkong also ate a lot of meat and drank quite a bit of wine. This drew some curious glances from others. However, Dunkong later explained that initially, monks abstained from eating meat and pungent foods because such flavors could stimulate the senses and affect one's thoughts. Drinking alcohol was similar; it could cloud the mind due to its stimulating effects.
Even so, he had still broken the precept against consuming meat and pungent foods. Ye Mingshang had no objections to this. He understood that this monk was unconventional; perhaps in the eyes of other Buddhist disciples, he might seem like an oddity, but he was a true monk and a genuine disciple of Buddhism.
The entire group stayed up late into the night, each person drunkenly sprawled on the ground in disarray. The women could only shake their heads helplessly as they quietly cleaned up and covered their husbands with clothing.
Old Ma and Joan were also drunk; they had consumed a lot. Face wore a constant smile, though it was unclear whether it stemmed from happiness or sorrow. Perhaps drinking was a way to numb the pain within.
Dunkong had also drunk quite a bit; his capacity for alcohol was impressive, consuming it as if it were water. Nevertheless, he too felt somewhat intoxicated at this moment. Sitting cross-legged on the ground with his hands clasped together, he occasionally recited scriptures. He should have appeared very solemn and sacred, but combined with his reddened eyes and occasional singing of drinking songs, it became somewhat amusing.
Ye Mingshang shook his head with a wry smile and went alone to sit on a rooftop. Looking up at the bright moon, his thoughts drifted far away.
...
The next day, despite the villagers' warm invitations, everyone still took their leave. As for the reward for exorcising demons, Ye Mingshang did not mention it; he was not someone who was greedy for money. Generally speaking, as long as he had money to spend, he wouldn't ask for any rewards. Of course, some people's interests still needed to be addressed, like Chen Jiaxing's case. Initially intending to ask for only a small amount of money, that merchant unexpectedly refused to give anything and even threatened him with words. Encountering such people without extracting a little more profit would be against his conscience.
The car was driving down a country road, and Old Ma was laughing happily.
"Old Ma, what's so funny?" After spending some time together, Joan had become quite familiar with him and teased him.
"Get lost! I'm just happy that I saved so many people this time," Old Ma said, glaring.
"Oh? Why don't I believe you?" Joan replied with a skeptical expression.
"Alright, actually I accepted a reward from the villagers," Old Ma said with an awkward smile.
"Hah, I knew it! How much did you get?" Joan asked, looking smug.
"About... over eight million."
"What?! How could it be that much?!" Joan nearly spat out her drink.
"You know their village is wealthy."
"That still doesn't justify such a large amount."
"There are several hundred households in their village. If each family gives a little, it adds up to a lot. Besides, they insisted on giving it. It would be rude to refuse," Old Ma said, feigning helplessness as he shrugged his shoulders. He quickly grabbed the steering wheel as they approached a turn ahead.
"Split it in half when we meet," Joan said with a sidelong glance.
"That's not possible; this is all going to be donated!"
Under the playful banter between the two, time seemed to pass quickly as they arrived at the train station in town after a bumpy journey.
"Since you all are in a hurry to leave, I won't keep you. I'll finish up what I have to do and then go to Nanjing to find you. Let's drink together then," Old Ma said, leaning against the car.
"You old man, when are you ever busy?" Joan retorted with some dissatisfaction.
"I'm busy doing charity work!" Old Ma replied with a serious expression.
However, in a town like Zhou Mountain, it was impossible to have an airport; having a train station was already quite an achievement. After purchasing tickets to the nearest city, they settled down in the waiting room.
Dunkong, dressed in a white robe resembling a humanoid monk, certainly attracted attention, drawing quite a crowd. During this time, a girl dressed like a doll approached and asked, "Uncle, are you in Sspy?" This genuinely made them laugh for a while.
Fortunately, their luck was good; they didn't wait long before the train arrived. After an hour's ride to the city, it was time for them to part ways.
Flying was indeed much more comfortable. It wasn't as cramped as the train and there wasn't such polluted air. The only downside was the high price; after all, you get what you pay for. Fortunately, Ye Mingshang wasn't short on cash.
By the time they returned to Nanjing, it was already afternoon. After Joan persistently begged him, Ye Mingshang taught him two spells before sending him off.
"Ah~ so comfortable~" Back in his dormitory, Ye Mingshang lay heavily on the soft bed and stretched lazily.
"Answer the phone~ answer the phone~ answer the phone~" Just as he lay down, the phone rang. With a helpless sigh, Ye Mingshang picked up the phone.
"Hello?" Ye Mingshang said, somewhat impatiently.
"Brother Ye, it's Qianqian. Um, I tried calling you before, but you didn't answer." Lin Qianqian's voice came through the phone, sounding a bit awkward.
"I was busy with something earlier, and my phone wasn't working well." Upon hearing Lin Qianqian's voice, Ye Mingshang's tone softened. After all, she was his first friend in Nanjing.
"Oh, I see. So, Brother Ye, are you back now?" Lin Qianqian asked, realizing what Ye Mingshang meant by being busy.
"Yeah, I'm in my dorm."
"How about we go out for dinner tonight?"
"Sure, where to?"
"Shall we go to that Sichuan Restaurant we visited last time?" Lin Qianqian sounded pleased when she heard Ye Mingshang agree.
"Okay."
"I'll call you tonight."
"Alright."
······
After hanging up the phone, Ye Mingshang quickly fell asleep. Time always seemed to pass quickly in dreams. At seven in the evening, he received a call from Lin Qianqian and washed his face before heading downstairs.
Without any means of transportation, Ye Mingshang simply walked to Sichuan Restaurant since it was close to the school, and he wasn't in a hurry.
Along the way, he ran into Xu Sheng, who had just finished playing basketball and was laughing with a few friends. However, as soon as he saw Ye Mingshang's smile, his expression immediately froze, and his legs started to shake nervously.
Ye Mingshang noticed him too but only glanced over without saying anything. He wasn't one to hold grudges; to him, Xu Sheng was just a spoiled child, even though he might not be much younger than him.
It wasn't until Ye Mingshang walked away that Xu Sheng let out a heavy sigh. However, his legs were still shaking a bit.
"Ah Sheng, who was that? Why are you so scared of him?" a tall boy asked curiously.
"He... is a devil..." Xu Sheng swallowed hard, his face serious.
After walking for about ten minutes, Ye Mingshang arrived at the entrance of Sichuan Restaurant. From a distance, he saw Lin Qianqian excitedly waving at him.
"Brother Ye, you're here!" Lin Qianqian said with a happy smile. Today she wore a light yellow sweater and a white short skirt that highlighted her long legs. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. She looked youthful and vibrant, causing several young men passing by to glance back at her.
They were in the same private room as before; perhaps they often came here and were used to this room.
"Who else is here? Your girlfriends?" Ye Mingshang asked.
"Well, Mo Mo isn't feeling well and couldn't come. Yuan Yuan and Ya are here. There's also someone you might know from your class," Lin Qianqian replied with a sweet smile.
