I felt as if a fierce tiger was struggling beneath me, causing my whole body to rise and fall, nearly throwing me off.
Soon, where the paper touched my forehead, wisps of black smoke began to emerge, and the Invocation Spell drawn on it seemed to ignite, rapidly dissolving. I was more nervous than anyone else; if the Invocation Spell couldn't summon the Cat Spirit, it would be even more troublesome.
Mr. Liu was very scared and asked me while pressing down, "Is it going to work?"
I replied, "Who the hell knows who is the grandson!"
Before I could finish speaking, we were both thrown off. Mr. Liu fell directly to the ground, while I landed beside the bed, instinctively glancing at the White Tara Heart Mantra I was holding, only to find it completely empty.
I immediately understood that the summoning had failed; this talisman meant for safety had not managed to suppress the Cat Spirit. Before I could get up, I felt a weight on me and turned around to see a little girl lunging at me with her mouth open. If I hadn't struggled with all my might, she would have bitten my neck instead of leaving two deep scratches on my shoulder.
The pain was excruciating, and my anger was higher than ever. Without thinking much, I grabbed the little girl's hair and tightly held her head, dragging her under the bed. Taking advantage of our unstable positions, I pulled out the White Olive Amulet that I had worn since childhood and slapped it against her face.
The White Olive Amulet is a top-tier Amulet for safety; it's incredibly effective and far superior to the White Tara Heart Mantra I had given to Mr. Liu. This amulet had been blessed by several High Monks, making it powerful. When it struck her face, the little girl immediately jumped up as if electrocuted, screaming.
I couldn't let her escape just like that; I grabbed her by the neck without caring about her hands clawing at me and pressed the Amulet firmly against her forehead. The summoning incantation poured out of my mouth as she struggled more fiercely. Fortunately, Mr. Liu finally mustered some courage and came over to help hold her down.
Half a minute later, the little girl suddenly screamed and spat out a large chunk of something, her entire body going limp immediately. I turned my head to avoid what she expelled and looked back to see a large piece of black fur covered in decaying flesh.
This thing looked familiar; upon closer thought, wasn't it one of the pieces of Yin Liao used by Ajan to make Cat Spirit Talismans? I had no idea how it ended up in the little girl's stomach.
I quickly pushed her away from me and pressed a Tiger Head Ruler's Ring that I was wearing onto that foul-smelling piece of flesh. Within seconds, I felt a slight tingling in my fingers, indicating that the ring had entered into spiritual resonance. I sighed in relief before taking the ring away.
Mr. Liu held the unconscious little girl, looking somewhat at a loss as he asked me what was going on.
I said, “The Cat Spirit has been taken away. She is currently weak; just give her some water and let her rest for a few days, and she will gradually recover.”
Mr. Liu nodded and picked up the little girl. He didn’t dare to put her back on the bed but carried her to another room. When he came out, I straightforwardly stated that I was leaving and asked him to quickly pay me the fifteen thousand yuan reward he had promised.
Mr. Liu looked surprised and said, “Wasn’t it ten thousand? How did it become fifteen thousand?”
I showed him the ring in my hand and said, “Ten thousand is just the base price, but now, in order to help you take care of the Cat Spirit, I have used the Tiger Head Ruler's Ring made by Holy Monk Long Po Ben. This is a limited edition! Originally, it was meant to help protect my home and ward off disasters, but now that it has been occupied by the Cat Spirit, it has lost its function. If you think five thousand is too much, I can release the Cat Spirit again, and you can deal with it yourself; I won’t take a single cent.”
Upon hearing this, Mr. Liu turned pale with fear and didn’t dare to bargain anymore. He directly took me to the bank to withdraw the money.
Although I had invested quite a bit in this matter, even leaving two permanent scars on my shoulder, overall, just for handling these troubles for him, I made a net profit of twenty thousand yuan! That Lushi ring was indeed made by Long Po Ben, but when I bought it initially, I only spent a few hundred yuan because the spirit inside had already been depleted by its previous owner; it was no different from a cheap Scripture Law Ring worth two hundred yuan. However, the Tiger Head Lushi itself has spirit-controlling effects and can be useful in certain special situations, so the few hundred yuan spent wasn’t a loss.
As for the Cat Spirit that was taken in now, I could find a familiar Ajan to transfer it to another Yin plate without spending much money. However, my White Olive Amulet had lost quite a bit of spiritual power due to the Cat Spirit's antics; I would need to have Long Po Long Pu from the temple bless it again properly.
In this matter, Mr. Liu was ultimately the one who suffered the most. Just dealing with the little ghost cost him nearly forty thousand yuan. Now not only did he lose his wealthy girlfriend, but his job was also worse than before; he truly lost both his wife and soldiers.
I felt no sympathy for someone like him. Trying to use a little ghost to gain something that doesn’t belong to you comes at a price, and in the end, you might not even truly obtain it. Moreover, he kept wavering between belief and doubt; with such an unstable heart, no one could help him!
For someone like Mr. Liu, this outcome isn’t even severe; among those who have faced backlash that I know of, this is considered quite light.
A slightly heavier case comes to mind that serves as a classic example.
In 2009, a woman with the surname Chu came to me wanting to invite a Kuman back home. I asked her what kind she wanted since Kuman can be categorized into Tian Tong, Earth Child, Human Child, etc. Additionally, there are various effects such as attracting wealth, locking hearts, helping family harmony, and so on.
Ms. Chu didn’t understand much about this and simply said, “Whatever works; I’m just getting older and have been unable to conceive. People say Guman Thong can be raised like a child, so I came to ask you.” Upon hearing this, I understood immediately that she wanted to be a mother. There are many similar clients; perhaps due to numerous issues with domestic food safety, the proportion of infertility cases is increasing every year. I told Ms. Chu: “If you want to raise a Kuman like a child, then Human Child should suit you. However, one thing needs clarification: among Kuman, Human Child Ghosts are divided into male and female—Guman Thong and Gumanli—so not all Kuman can be referred to as Guman Thong.”
Ms. Chu didn't understand these things and asked me, "What is a Human Child?"
I explained, "A Human Child Ghost refers to the soul of a child who died unexpectedly and is under twelve years old. If the Resentment has been purified by a High Monk, all that is needed is daily offerings and doing good deeds to accumulate merit for reincarnation. Therefore, even if you forget to make offerings for a while, it won't cause too many problems. Such Kuman are generally sold to families like yours, who love children but cannot have them."
The type with a soul is called a Spirit of the Child. Besides that, there is another kind called a ritual figure. Simply put, it involves molding a figure, creating a golden body, and having a High Monk chant scriptures to consecrate it. This belongs to sacred objects of faith and has little practical use. In my opinion, it doesn't even qualify as a true Kuman. Many scammers nowadays mostly sell ritual figure Kuman, which may not even have been consecrated—just a bunch of ordinary clay.
If anyone wants such a thing, send me a private message. I am quite skilled at molding figures from clay; I can easily make one hundred or eighty in a day without hesitation.
Ms. Chu mentioned she preferred boys and ended up taking home a Guman Thong.
When it came time to pay, she asked me, "I heard that after offering for a long time, you can hear the child speak, right?"
I replied, "That's called an Ear Report, but it depends on fate; not everyone can experience it."
Ms. Chu responded with an "oh," looking somewhat displeased. I didn't take it to heart since it's just a Human Child Ghost, inexpensive and without malevolent consequences.
About a month later, Ms. Chu returned to see me again, hoping to get another Kuman. She said, "The one I originally got, the Human Child, is exhausting to offer to every day and gives no response at all; I might as well raise a dog since at least I can hear it bark."
Her words struck me as somewhat harsh, so I said, "It's best not to speak like that, especially in front of your Kuman. Although it won't do anything to you, since you've brought it home as if it were your child, you must be sincere. At the very least, you wouldn't say your own child is worse than a dog just because they are mute, would you?"
Hearing my irritation, Ms. Chu quickly apologized and expressed her willingness to spend more money but hoped to get one that could provide some response.
