The next day, Li Xiaolu got up early as usual, finished her morning routine, and went downstairs for breakfast.
As soon as she sat down, she saw Jijun walking in from outside.
She was a bit surprised and asked, "What brings you here?"
Jijun smiled and replied, "I came to bring you breakfast."
Li Xiaolu glanced at the breakfast in his hands and felt a little embarrassed. "You really didn't have to go through all this trouble; I could have bought it myself."
Jijun shook his head. "It's no trouble at all; I had nothing else to do anyway."
Li Xiaolu didn't want to refuse any longer, so she accepted it. "Thank you."
Jijun watched her eat breakfast, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Feeling a bit uneasy under his gaze, Li Xiaolu couldn't help but ask, "Why are you staring at me?"
Jijun chuckled, "Because you're beautiful."
Li Xiaolu's face turned red, and she lowered her head, falling silent.
Seeing her shy demeanor made Jijun's smile deepen.
"Do you have any plans for today?" Jijun suddenly asked.
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "No, why?"
Jijun suggested, "How about we go watch a movie?"
Li Xiaolu was a bit surprised. "Watch a movie?"
Jijun nodded. "Yeah, there's a romantic film out recently that I think you'll like."
Li Xiaolu hesitated for a moment. "But..."
Jijun smiled again. "Didn't you say you had nothing planned for today?"
After thinking it over, Li Xiaolu finally said, "Alright then."
Jijun smiled back. "Great! I'll go buy the tickets."
With that, he stood up and left.
Li Xiaolu watched his departing figure, feeling a mix of emotions. She didn't understand why Jijun had suddenly invited her to watch a movie, nor could she define their relationship. Were they friends? It seemed their connection clearly surpassed the boundaries of friendship. Were they lovers? Yet, they had never explicitly confessed their feelings.
Li Xiaolu felt trapped in a loop, unable to find a way out. She sighed and decided not to dwell on these thoughts anymore. After all, regardless of what Jijun thought, she just needed to follow her heart.
The movie she wanted to see had been out for a while, but due to her busy work schedule, she hadn't found the time to go. Now, finally, she could watch it! In a cheerful mood, she changed into her outfit and applied light makeup, ready to head out.
As soon as she stepped outside, she saw Jijun waiting for her at the door. She was a bit surprised. "You got the tickets so quickly?"
Jijun nodded. "Yeah, I was worried you might be waiting too long."
Li Xiaolu felt a little embarrassed. "Actually, I wasn't in a hurry."
Jijun smiled. "Then let's go."
Li Xiaolu nodded and followed him outside. The cinema was crowded, mostly filled with couples. Li Xiaolu and Jijun found their seats and settled in, waiting for the movie to start.
Li Xiaolu felt a bit nervous; this was her first time watching a movie with a boy, and she wondered if anything awkward would happen. The film soon began; it was a romantic story about a girl and a boy's love.
Li Xiaolu became completely absorbed in the movie, tears streaming down her face. Jijun glanced at her profile, and a complex emotion flickered in his eyes. He reached out gently to wipe away her tears.
Li Xiaolu felt his movement, turned her head, and looked at him.
Jijun smiled slightly at her and said, "You look beautiful when you cry."
Li Xiaolu's face flushed, and she lowered her head, no longer looking at him. After the movie ended, the two walked out of the cinema together.
Li Xiaolu's mood was still somewhat heavy as she kept thinking about the plot of the film.
Jijun looked at her and asked, "Are you okay?"
Li Xiaolu nodded, "I'm fine."
Jijun gazed at her and suddenly asked, "Do you know what I like most about you?"
Li Xiaolu looked puzzled, "What?"
Jijun smiled, "I like your eyes the most."
Li Xiaolu was a bit surprised, "Why?"
Jijun chuckled, "Because there is always a sparkle in your eyes."
Li Xiaolu's face turned red again as she lowered her head.
Seeing her shy demeanor, Jijun's smile widened. "Let me walk you home," he said.
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "No need, I want to walk alone for a bit."
Jijun looked at her without saying anything.
Li Xiaolu smiled and reassured him, "Don't worry, I won't get lost."
After thinking for a moment, Jijun replied, "Alright then."
After bidding farewell to Jijun, Li Xiaolu walked alone on the street. Her mood was still low as she recalled the scenes from the movie and the love story between the boy and girl; her heart ached slightly.
She didn't remember how she got home; she lay in bed tossing and turning unable to sleep. Her mind was filled with images from the film, and she couldn't control her thoughts.
She lay in bed, staying awake until dawn.
