"Report to the Alliance Leader, the demon army has suddenly appeared on our way to the Sealing Land!"
My heart sank, and an ominous premonition surged within me. Du Ming furrowed his brows and asked in a deep voice, "Do we know who is leading them?"
"Reporting to the Alliance Leader, it is the demon general—Blood Fiend!"
Blood Fiend! As soon as this name was mentioned, everyone present gasped in shock. He was the most brutal and bloodthirsty general under the Demon Lord, with unfathomable strength.
"It seems we have been set up. The demon clan clearly intends to wipe us out!" Du Ming's tone was icy, his eyes flashing with cold light.
"What should we do now? We are no match for Blood Fiend!" someone in the crowd shouted in panic.
"What are you afraid of! Even if we die in battle today, we must fight to the death and vow to protect the Cultivation World!" I shouted loudly, trying to stabilize the morale of our troops.
"Lingxi is right; even if we know it's a trap, we must charge in! Pass my orders: everyone prepare for battle, follow me to carve a bloody path!"
As soon as I finished speaking, a thunderous battle cry echoed through the sky. Du Ming and I fought side by side, leading the people of the Cultivation World as we charged headlong into the demon army.
Blades flashed and blood flew. I wielded my Silver Needle, infusing it with spiritual energy, transforming it into a shower of silver light that shot towards the swarming demon soldiers. Du Ming held his long sword, slicing through enemies with ease; wherever he went, demonic energy dissipated.
However, there were simply too many demons, and we gradually fell into a disadvantage. Just then, a fierce attack came at me; I couldn't dodge in time and was hit in the shoulder, blood instantly staining my clothes.
"Lingxi!" Du Ming's eyes widened in rage upon seeing this; he swung his sword to repel the surrounding enemies and pulled me into his embrace.
"I'm fine..." I gritted my teeth against the pain, trying to push him away, but he held me tighter.
"Don't move; I'm taking you away!" He said as he lightly tapped his toes and swiftly flew us away from the battlefield, seeking refuge in a hidden cave.
Once inside the cave, Du Ming gently set me down and anxiously checked my injury.
"What are you doing worrying about me at a time like this? You need to stop the demons; we can't let them destroy the seal!" I grasped his hand urgently.
"Do you think I would leave you behind?" His tone was gentle yet firm as he took out some medicine and carefully treated my wound.
After tending to my injury, he began to check his own wounds. His already blood-stained clothes were now soaked through with blood, a shocking sight.
"You... you're hurt so badly..." My heart ached at the sight, and my eyes involuntarily became moist.
"Silly girl, I'm tough; this little injury is nothing." He smiled to comfort me, but I could clearly see that his face was frighteningly pale.
We leaned back against each other in silence, quietly recovering our strength. The cave was silent except for our breathing sounds echoing clearly.
At that moment, I suddenly felt a powerful surge of spiritual energy coming from deep within the cave. I quickly got up and followed Du Ming as we moved toward the source of the energy fluctuation at the deepest part of the cave.
With the faint light, we saw a massive rune array carved into the stone walls of the cave.
"This is... an ancient seal?!" Du Ming exclaimed, his tone filled with disbelief.
I carefully examined the runes on the array, feeling a storm of emotions rising within me.
"Yes, this is indeed an ancient seal, and... the target of the seal is the Demon God!" I took a deep breath, trying to calm my excited heart, and turned to Du Ming, saying, "It seems we stumbled upon the key to sealing the Demon God! If we can reinforce the seal, perhaps..."
Before I could finish my sentence, I felt a powerful pressure coming from the cave entrance, accompanied by a chilling laugh: "Heh heh, how naive. Even at this point, you still think you can reinforce the seal? It's simply a fool's dream!"
Du Ming immediately shielded me behind him, warily looking towards the entrance. A figure in a black robe, wearing a Ghost Face Mask, slowly walked in. With each step, it felt as if he carried immense weight, making it hard to breathe.
"Who are you?" Du Ming asked in a low voice.
"Who am I? You are not worthy to know!" The figure in black laughed arrogantly. "But I can tell you this: this seal was broken over a hundred years ago. The Demon God is about to be resurrected, and you ants can only wait for your doom!"
Upon hearing this, my heart sank to the depths. Could it be... that all our efforts were in vain? Was there really no way to stop the resurrection of the Demon God?
"No, I don't believe it!" I bit my lip and forced myself to calm down. "Since the seal has been broken, why are you still here? What is your purpose?"
The figure in black seemed momentarily taken aback by my question. After a brief silence, he coldly replied, "It doesn't hurt to tell you; I'm here just to enjoy the despair on your faces! Hahaha..."
With that, he turned to leave.
"Trying to leave? Not so easy!" Du Ming shouted angrily and swung his sword at the figure in black. However, the black-robed man's strength was unfathomable; with a simple wave of his hand, he deflected Du Ming's attack and then vanished at the cave entrance.
"Damn it!" Du Ming punched the stone wall in frustration, blood flowing from between his fingers.
I quickly stepped forward and grabbed his hand, feeling pained as I said, "Don't be impulsive; this isn't the time for rash actions. We must find a way to stop the resurrection of the Demon God!"
Du Ming looked at me, his gaze gradually firming up: "You're right; we can't give up! Even if hope seems slim, we must give it our all!"
The cave was piled with rubble and dry branches; we decided to use these simple materials to craft some weapons and traps in preparation for the final battle.
Time was pressing; we divided our tasks— I handled herbs to create poisons and sedatives while Du Ming worked on sharpening stones into blades and whittling branches into simple arrows.
We worked in silence but moved in perfect harmony as if we shared a connection. I knew we were both gathering strength for the impending battle and cheering each other on.
As night deepened, we leaned against each other’s backs, ate some dry rations quickly, and then began to rest as much as possible.
"Lingxi..." Du Ming's voice reached my ears with a hint of fatigue yet filled with tenderness. "Do you think... we can succeed?"
I held his hand firmly and said with conviction: "We will definitely succeed! We will stop the resurrection of the Demon God and protect this world!"
He squeezed my hand back, his warmth transferring boundless strength to me.
"Yes, we can definitely do it!"
In the darkness, I seemed to see the light in his eyes, a light of hope and love.
I leaned against his shoulder, my heart filled with complex emotions. Fear, despair, hope, love... various feelings intertwined, leaving me at a loss.
But I knew clearly that no matter what the future held, I would face it together with Du Ming!
The demon god is about to be resurrected; can we find a way out in this desperate situation?
