A Qi seemed to sense Xu Feng's thoughts and did not stop him. This two-hundred-year-old Royal Sparrow had seen much life and death and was accustomed to farewells. Approaching the remains of Jin Liaoyuan, A Qi let out a few mournful cries, as if recounting a tale of sorrow from another world.
Seeing this, Xu Feng also entered the stone chamber, bowed to Jin Liaoyuan, and said, "Master, I do not know who killed you, but I will remember your vengeance. I have already mastered your Control Vein Technique; I hope it does not tarnish your reputation. I will take this gift from Qiu Wuling with me now; you can rest in peace." He bowed once more.
Upon hearing Xu Feng's words, A Qi ceased its sorrow. Xu Feng walked to the cave entrance, and A Qi spread its wings wide; together they flew out of the cave.
A Qi flew swiftly; though small in size, it was faster than the ten-meter-tall Dapeng of the New Moon Sect. After a while, A Qi landed at the entrance of the Beast Wasteland.
Xu Feng jumped down to the ground and waved at A Qi. With a high cry, A Qi vanished into the vast depths of the forest. Xu Feng did not allow A Qi to follow him; a beast of A Qi's caliber would find few rivals in Liuxiang Kingdom, but there were still enemies. He was already aware that Guiyi Sect and New Moon Sect were searching for its old lair. Once A Qi revealed itself, it would surely attract some ancient sect members.
Just ten miles ahead was Beast Reject City, where Xu Feng had lived for eighteen years. He had risen to prominence here, gained fame, met his untimely end here, and fled from here.
For Xu Feng now, ten miles was a mere blink of an eye. He chose not to ride a mount so he could immerse himself in the world and better understand the differences between humanity and the Dao.
On East Street of Beast Reject City, Xu Feng in his blue robe walked along the street. Across from Tofu Beauty should be Three Blades Inn. As he passed by, nearly three years had passed since Tofu Beauty had married someone else.
The inn still stood but had changed its name to Gentle Inn.
This was now the property of Hua Family on West Street. The Hua Family was in the "service industry" and had opened a Gentle Pavilion on West Street. They had driven away the Eastern Street Three Young Masters and taken over Three Blades Inn, changing its sign and engaging in underhanded dealings.
"This gentleman, are you looking for a room or some entertainment?" a lecherous-looking innkeeper named Welcoming approached him eagerly. "Do you have someone familiar? If not, I can introduce you to one; our Qiu Xiang is the top performer here..."
"Just bring me some dishes," Xu Feng said as he looked at the newly renovated Gentle Inn without an ounce of anger in his heart. The world was unpredictable; life and death were fleeting. Who knew when one might perish? After all, he was an immortal; such mundane matters should not ensnare him.
"Alright!" Welcoming replied quickly before rushing into the back room. "Get me three of the most expensive dishes; there's lamb coming." Little did he know that even if he spoke loudly, his words would be heard by Xu Feng.
Xu Feng did not conceal his aura, but as a mortal, Welcoming could not sense it; his gaze was only for wealth—whoever had money was king.
Before long, three dishes and a soup were served up, cooked quite well.
"The menu includes Hairy Moss Wine, Bamboo Flower Dew, Fireworks Brew..." Welcoming listed several names of wines while greedily eyeing Xu Feng. However, upon hearing that Xu Feng only ordered a bowl of rice, he felt greatly disappointed.
After establishing his foundation in cultivation, food lacking Spiritual Energy would only burden his body. Most cultivators after establishing their foundation no longer consumed mortal food; this is also why immortals do not partake in earthly pleasures.
Xu Feng didn't care about these matters; if possible, he would even want to try making Spicy Hot Pot, but it seemed that Liuxiang Kingdom didn't have any chili peppers and leaned more towards sweet flavors.
From upstairs came the sounds of laughter and flirtation. The slightly plump Hua Buyi was embracing two heavily made-up women as he descended, and upon seeing the few diners in the hall, Hua Buyi showed a hint of displeasure. Although his main business was in another industry, the food sector also brought in considerable income. However, ever since he took over Xu Feng's Three Blades Inn, the originally booming business had been declining. If it weren't for his side venture in the flesh trade, he might have already gone out of business.
Xu Feng stood with his back to Hua Buyi, his light blue Robe exuding a faint aura. The Hua Family had close ties with Li Si and had a favorable impression of people from Modern Clerk.
“Immortal Master, I am Hua Buyi, welcome…” Hua Buyi hurried over to make introductions, but halfway through his words, he caught sight of Xu Feng's familiar face.
After two years of secluded cultivation, Xu Feng's appearance had changed somewhat, but Hua Buyi had such a deep impression of him that he constantly worried about Xu Feng returning for revenge. Just a brief glance was enough for him to recognize Xu Feng. He felt a mix of fear and hesitation; he couldn't dare to attack or flee.
Just then, a waiter came out from the back carrying dishes. Noticing the unusual expression on the Boss's face, he guessed that this outsider had offended him. He threw down the dishes angrily and rushed over, pointing at Xu Feng and shouting, “You blind fool…”
With a slight exertion of force from Xu Feng, the waiter inexplicably found himself kneeling on the ground, his knees cracking under the pressure as they shattered.
The waiter was stunned, momentarily forgetting the pain in his legs as he hurriedly pleaded for mercy: “Immortal Master, spare me! I have elders above me and younger ones below; just consider me a fart and let me go.” He realized he had provoked a cultivator; no ordinary person could crush his kneecap without lifting a finger.
Hua Buyi, unable to find an escape route, saw the waiter’s predicament and immediately took advantage of it. He kicked him down to the ground and scolded, “You dog servant! How dare you treat Immortal Master Xu like this? Do you know he is my long-lost… idol?” In his desperation, Hua Buyi inadvertently coined a new term.
Xu Feng couldn't help but chuckle at this; after all, he wasn't in showbiz and didn't want to get caught up in any hidden rules.
The waiter was beaten black and blue, rolling on the ground. It seemed that Hua Buyi had gotten carried away; as long as Xu Feng didn’t stop him, he would continue this way. After all, stopping could be dangerous—who knew if this Xu Feng might kill him if displeased?
The onlookers dared not move as they watched their Boss personally deal with someone. From the back courtyard rushed in a dozen burly men. Upon seeing the scene unfold, they immediately joined the fray without hesitation.
In no time at all, the waiter curled up on the ground like a soccer ball while two groups engaged in an all-out brawl reminiscent of Dutch attacking football. Those with better skills even dribbled past their opponents.
Xu Feng stepped aside to avoid interfering with the match. Finally, after Hua Buyi landed a powerful kick, the waiter completely lost consciousness.
Breathless and sweating profusely, Hua Buyi ran over to Xu Feng, smiling apologetically: “Immortal Master Xu, I was wrong before; please don’t take it to heart. Over these past two years managing Three Blades Inn, I've saved some money.” He pulled out a thick stack of silver notes.
Help me manage? This Hua Buyi really could spin tales. Knowing he was only seeking to save his life, Xu Feng didn’t refuse; he patted Hua Buyi on the shoulder and accepted the silver notes.
A Qingyi Daoist entered from outside and called out to Hua Buyi, "Hua Buyi, come out for a moment, I have something to ask you." The Qingyi Daoist noticed Xu Feng standing nearby and slightly nodded his head in respect, clearly recognizing that Xu Feng was a cultivator with strength far surpassing his own.
Xu Feng did not return the greeting because he had already seen the insignia on the Daoist's robe; he was a disciple of the Wan Jian Sect.
Seeing that it was the Qingyi Daoist, Hua Buyi's expression brightened. He quickly approached and said, "Wu Xianshi, it's been a long time since I last saw you. Hua is here to pay his respects." Hua Buyi certainly had a way with words.
Wu Xianshi did not respond and led Hua Buyi outside.
Before long, a solid voice came from outside: "Come out, Xu Daoyou, it's time we settled our accounts."
Xu Feng frowned slightly; the visitor turned out to be a Foundation Establishment Period Cultivator, a Foundation Establishment Practitioner from the Wan Jian Sect. Was it too many practitioners or was it just his good fortune?
He floated out of the house. Outside, Hua Buyi was looking at him with a smug expression, full of schadenfreude. Standing beside him were two disciples of the Wan Jian Sect: one was the previously mentioned Wu Xianshi, and the other was tall and slender with sharp eyes like lightning.
"I am Li Chang," said the tall cultivator.
