I opened the Forum, and that post was still pinned at the top.
Clicking in, I saw Qian Fan's comments.
"It's not what you think."
"Really, it's not what you think."
He clumsily explained, but all he received in return were various unsightly insults.
I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my heart.
Qian Fan, such a smart person, could easily solve even the toughest problems in math class, yet now he could only awkwardly repeat that phrase over and over.
"Really, it's not what you think."
He clearly could have distanced himself from this situation.
Why was he doing this?
That evening, Zhang Yue told me that Cheng Lin had called her.
"She said she didn't know what was going on either; the recording was accidental, and she accidentally pressed her phone. She just got her phone fixed and brought it back."
"Is that so?" I smiled lightly. "Then why did she leave her phone there?"
"This..." Zhang Yue was taken aback.
"Maybe she accidentally left it there."
"Accidentally?" I laughed. "Accidentally leaving her phone there, accidentally pressing record, accidentally uploading the recording online, and accidentally posting that on the Forum."
"This..." Zhang Yue fell silent.
"How could it be so coincidental?" I coldly stared ahead. "What does Cheng Lin really want?"
I spent the entire night thinking about how to deal with Cheng Lin.
The more I thought about it, the angrier I became, and in the end, I couldn't sleep at all.
The next morning when I woke up, I comforted myself: Li Zixuan, you are the female lead; you are the protagonist of this world. No matter how bad it gets, you won't truly be cornered; this is just a temporary predicament—it's fine, it's fine.
I opened my computer to see if there were any opportunities for retaliation.
But I was really so infuriated by that post that my mindset collapsed; I rushed out of the Dormitory Building, wanting to take down Cheng Lin.
"Author!"
I shouted loudly, rushing downstairs to the empty ground, "Are you out of your mind? Is this the plot you gave me? Ah!"
No one responded.
"Damn it!"
I couldn't help but curse, then ran towards the small forest on the back mountain.
I needed to vent; I had to vent.
I reached the forest and kicked a tree with all my might.
"Cheng Lin!" I lifted my foot and forcefully kicked the dirt on the ground, "I curse you! May you eat instant noodles without seasoning packets and have water get stuck in your teeth!"
I listed all the misfortunes I could think of, then looked weakly at the sky.
"Why give me such a plot?"
"What did I do wrong?"
I pulled out a coin and tossed it up.
"Heaven, I wish."
"Li Zixuan." Qian Fan suddenly appeared behind me, extending his hand to gently catch the coin.
"What's wrong?" He looked at me and smiled slightly.
"You..." I stared at him, momentarily at a loss for words.
"The coin." He placed the coin in my palm, "Tell me your wish; I'll help you fulfill it."
"I..." I looked at him, suddenly feeling a lump in my throat.
"Don't cry." He rubbed my dark circles gently, "Go back."
"Huh?" I was taken aback for a moment.
"Go back to sleep." He looked at me with an incredibly gentle gaze, "When you wake up, you'll have a wonderful world."
He brought me back to the dormitory.
"Swear," he said seriously as he looked at me, "Say that you'll go back and sleep immediately."
I was speechless. "Qian Fan, don't you think you're being childish?"
"Hurry up," he said seriously, looking at me. "Say that you'll go home and sleep right away."
I raised my hand. "I swear, I'll go home and sleep immediately."
"Good," he nodded in satisfaction. "You can go back now."
