Two days later, I finally found out who Zhang Yue was. She is my new roommate.
"Hello, my name is Zhang Yue. I hope we can get along well," the new roommate said with a gentle smile and a friendly expression.
I looked at her for a long time and then spat out one word, "Leave!"
Zhang Yue was taken aback.
I turned to leave, but halfway out, I couldn't help but look back. "Chen Siqi, is this your plan?"
Chen Siqi looked at me without saying a word.
But I could see the answer in her eyes.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Good, very good!
"Li Zixuan, what's wrong with you?" my new roommate Zhang Yue asked, looking at me in confusion.
I snapped back to reality and shook my head. "It's nothing."
After saying that, I continued to look down at my phone.
Actually, there wasn't much to see on my phone; my mind just wasn't in it.
"Are you hungry?" Zhang Yue asked again. "Do you want to go eat together?"
Before I could respond, my phone suddenly rang.
It was Qian Fan calling.
I instinctively looked up at Zhang Yue and then got up to leave the dormitory.
"Hello," I answered the call.
"Have you left the dorm yet?" Qian Fan asked straightforwardly.
"Uh?" I was taken aback. "Not yet, what's up?"
"Come out; let's eat together," Qian Fan said calmly.
Eat together?
I instinctively glanced at the time.
It was almost eight o'clock; what were we going to eat?
"Where should we eat?" I asked.
"Under the Second Teaching Building," Qian Fan replied.
Isn't that the only way Zhang Yue takes to return to the dorm?
If they run into each other, won't that expose everything?
"No way!" I blurted out.
"Hmm?" Qian Fan's voice turned serious. "Why not?"
I gritted my teeth. "It just can't happen, so don't come!"
"Heh." Qian Fan suddenly laughed. "Li Zixuan, are you afraid I'll find out something?"
Find out what?
I frowned. "Qian Fan, what do you mean?"
"Nothing much," Qian Fan said lightly. "Since you don't have time, forget it. I'll just go eat trash under the bridge."
Eat trash under the bridge?
Is he joking?
I took a deep breath and forced a smile. "Qian Fan, you misunderstood. I was just joking with you."
"Really?" Qian Fan's tone remained calm.
"Of course," I nodded stubbornly.
"Then I'll joke with you too," Qian Fan said, and then the call ended.
What was that?
I frowned and called back.
It was turned off.
He can't really be angry, can he?
I bit my lip, feeling a wave of frustration.
Great, now I've really offended him.
But... he wouldn't actually go to the bridge, would he?
It's winter now; it's cold and dark outside. What would he go there for?
Holding onto a glimmer of hope, I returned to the dormitory. As soon as I walked in, my roommate Xiaowan approached me.
"Li Zixuan, are you free this Saturday to go up the mountain?"
"I'm not free," I replied without thinking.
"Ah?" Xiaowan looked disappointed. "Didn't you say you were free?"
When did I say that?
I was about to argue back when Xiaowan spoke again, "Qian Fan said he’s free, how can you not be?"
Qian Fan is free?
I was taken aback.
Wasn't he ignoring my calls? Why is he willing to come out now?
When I woke up on Saturday, Zhang Yue was already ready.
"What are you going to do?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.
"I'm waiting for my friend downstairs," Zhang Yue replied with a smile.
Waiting for her friend? Does that mean she’s also going up the mountain? But didn’t I tell Xiaowan not to let her go?
"Xiaowan told me to go," Zhang Yue explained again.
"Ah?" I was stunned.
Xiaowan told her to go?
"Yeah," Zhang Yue nodded. "Xiaowan said you guys were going to have fun, and I wanted to join you, so Xiaowan said it was okay."
Xiaowan said it was okay? So it was Xiaowan who allowed her to go?
