"Yes." Lu Hao nodded seriously. "No matter where you go, I'll be with you."
"Why are you so nice to me?" I looked into his eyes.
"Because I like you," Lu Hao said without any hesitation.
"..." I was taken aback.
"What? Are you shocked?" Lu Hao laughed at my dazed expression.
"I..." I regained my composure. "I'm not shocked; I just... didn't expect you to say that."
"Hehe." Lu Hao chuckled softly. "Actually, I've wanted to tell you for a long time, but I was afraid you'd reject me, so I've never dared to say it."
"Then why are you telling me now?" I asked.
"Because I don't want to hide it from you anymore," Lu Hao said. "I want you to know how I feel, and no matter what the outcome is, I don't want to deceive you any longer."
"..." I looked at Lu Hao, feeling a mix of emotions in my heart.
I should be angry, after all, he is a liar who deceived my feelings.
But I just can't seem to feel any anger.
Maybe it's because he saved me, maybe it's because he helped me, or maybe it's because he has been really good to me.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Lu Hao asked when he saw me silent.

"Are you angry?" Lu Hao looked at me cautiously.

"Yeah." I nodded.
"Then why aren't you talking?" Lu Hao asked.
"I'm just... not sure how to face you," I said.
"Why?" Lu Hao asked, confused.
"Because I don't know if I should be angry with you," I replied.
"..." Lu Hao was silent for a moment, "I know I lied to you, and you have every right to be angry."
"I'm not angry because of that," I denied.
"Then what are you angry about?" Lu Hao asked.
"I..." I hesitated, unsure of how to start.
"It's okay, you can say whatever you want; I promise not to get angry," Lu Hao said.
"Then if I say it, you mustn't get angry," I insisted.
"Okay, I promise," Lu Hao said seriously.
"Then here it goes." I gathered my courage, "Did you lie to me because you think I'm foolish and easy to manipulate?"
"Huh?" Lu Hao was taken aback.
"Is that it?" I pressed on.
"Of course not," Lu Hao immediately denied it, "How could I think you're foolish or easy to manipulate?"
"Then why did you lie to me?" I continued to press him.
"I..." Lu Hao hesitated.
"Come on, just say it," I urged him.
"Alright." Lu Hao sighed, "I admit that I had selfish motives."
"What selfishness?" I asked.
"I want to be with you," Lu Hao confessed.
"..." I was stunned.
"I know this is despicable of me, but I really can't control myself," Lu Hao said. "I like you, and I want to see you every day. I want to be with you."
"..." I still didn't say anything.
"Li Ting, I really like you," Lu Hao continued. "If you're angry, you can hit me or scold me; I won't complain at all."
"..." I looked at Lu Hao.
His gaze was sincere, and his face was filled with earnestness, not like someone who was lying.
My heart softened.
"Alright, stop saying those things," I said softly.
"What about you? How do you plan to punish me?" Lu Hao asked.
"I..." I thought for a moment, "I haven't figured it out yet."
"Then take your time thinking about it and let me know when you're ready," Lu Hao said.
"Okay." I nodded.
"Shall we continue practicing driving now?" Lu Hao suggested.
"Sure." I nodded again.
We continued practicing until after five in the afternoon before we finished.
"Thank you," I said to Lu Hao before getting out of the car.
"What are you thanking me for?" Lu Hao asked.
"Thank you for being willing to practice driving with me," I replied.
"No need to mention it," Lu Hao said. "You paid for it; it's what I should do."
"..." I was speechless.
"Haha." Lu Hao laughed, "Just kidding! Even if you hadn't paid, I'd still be willing to practice driving with you."
"..." I remained speechless.
