The next day, I woke up and first opened WeChat. I saw that Lu Hao had sent me a message last night.
Lu Hao: Li Ting, good morning.
I smiled and replied: Good morning!
After finishing breakfast, I took my textbooks to the library.
I found a corner to sit down, took out my notebook and fountain pen, and began to research information about tattoos.
Although Lu Hao said I didn't need to be too professional, I still wanted to learn as much as possible to avoid being clueless later on.
I spent over two hours going through the materials and finally felt like I had a good grasp of the information.
I stretched my stiff body, packed up my things, and left the library.
When I returned to my dormitory and just lay down on my bed, my phone suddenly rang.
I pulled out my phone and saw that it was a call from Lu Hao.
I answered the call, "Hello?"
"Li Ting," Lu Hao asked, "what are you doing?"
"I just got back to my dorm," I said, "what's up?"
"I got in touch with the client; we should be able to finalize things in the next couple of days," Lu Hao said, "when do you have time?"
"I'm free anytime," I replied, "how about you?"
"I'm also free anytime," Lu Hao said, "then... how about we meet at the playground at five-thirty this afternoon?"
"Sounds good," I said, "see you then."
After hanging up the phone, I turned over, closed my eyes, and prepared for a nap.
---
At five-thirty in the afternoon, I arrived at the playground on time.
It was deep autumn now; the temperature had dropped, and the sun was setting with a cool breeze blowing.
I looked around the playground and quickly spotted Lu Hao.
He was wearing a white shirt and black pants, standing by the runway with a tall and slender silhouette.
I walked quickly to his side and asked, "Have you been waiting long?"
"No," Lu Hao shook his head, "I just arrived."
"That's good," I said, "Let's get started."
"Okay," Lu Hao nodded, "First, tell me about tattoos."
"Well," I cleared my throat and began to explain slowly, "A tattoo is simply the act of marking patterns or words on the skin to make them permanent."
"Oh," Lu Hao realized, "So it's done with needles, right?"
"Pretty much," I replied, "But the needles used for tattoos are specially made; they are much thicker than regular needles, and they penetrate the skin at different depths."
"I see," Lu Hao nodded, "Does getting a tattoo hurt?"
"It definitely hurts," I said, "But different people have different pain tolerances. Some might find it very painful, while others might think it's bearable."
"What about you?" Lu Hao asked, "Can you handle it?"
"I..." I hesitated for a moment, "I should be able to."
Actually, I had never tried it before, but since it was to help Lu Hao, I would endure it no matter how much it hurt.
Lu Hao smiled, "Then let's give it a try."
"Alright," I nodded, "Shall we go to your friend's shop now?"
"Not yet," Lu Hao waved his hand, "They haven't called yet."
"Oh," I replied and suddenly thought of something, "By the way, do you want to call a professional translator?"
"No need," Lu Hao shook his head, "You're enough."
"Then..." I thought for a moment, "I'll call Xiao Mei too; her French is better than mine."
"That works," Lu Hao said, "You decide."
I sent a WeChat message to Xiao Mei asking her to come quickly.
Half an hour later, Xiao Mei finally arrived.
"You guys finally made it," she said breathlessly, "I almost died from exhaustion."
"Who told you not to exercise regularly?" I complained.
Xiao Mei shot me a glance, "Stop talking nonsense, what’s the matter?"
I briefly explained the situation to her and then reminded, "Just follow my lead when the time comes, don't give anything away."
"Don't worry," Xiao Mei patted her chest, "I promise to get the job done!"
We waited a little longer, and finally, Lu Hao's phone rang.
After he finished the call, he said to us, "They've arrived."
"Then let's go," I said excitedly.
Lu Hao led us to his friend's Tattoo Shop.
