When the doorbell rang, I sprang up from the floor. A chill ran through me. I looked around in confusion and realized I had returned to my familiar home. In my previous life, after I died, my brother sought revenge for me but was killed by that woman in collusion with outsiders. My parents were heartbroken, having lost their child. Unexpectedly, heaven showed mercy, and our family was reborn.
My parents gathered around with concern. "Xiao Qiu, you're awake," my mother said, her face filled with worry. My father stood nearby smoking, his expression obscured by the curling smoke. Seeing their expressions, it dawned on me that not only I but also my parents and my brother had been reborn. We had returned to the day my brother brought that pregnant woman home.
"Sis, what's wrong?" A familiar voice came from the doorway. I turned to see Chen Wang standing there. Beside him was a beautiful young woman who looked at me shyly.
"Parents, Sis, this is Li Qian," Chen Wang excitedly introduced her. "She’s my girlfriend."
I nodded slightly. In my previous life, Chen Wang brought the pregnant Li Qian home and deceived us into believing the child was his and that he intended to marry her. Li Qian was alluring and clearly the type of woman who couldn't be satisfied easily. She was cunning, and Chen Wang was completely manipulated by her. To marry her, he even fell out with our parents. They were heartbroken but still couldn't bring themselves to truly abandon him. In the end, they suffered greatly because of him, and I lost my life as well.
In this life, I would never allow such a thing to happen again.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?"
Chen Wang noticed my silence and sounded a bit impatient.
"Xiao Qiu, your brother brought his girlfriend home."
My mom nudged my arm, signaling me to play along with her.
I instantly understood her meaning and smiled as I said, "Oh, really? Come in and have a seat."
Upon hearing this, Chen Wang's expression softened.
He pulled Li Qian inside.
"Parents, I'm hungry. Is dinner ready?"
Chen Wang asked loudly as soon as he entered.
"Xiaoqian hasn't eaten yet, hurry up and bring the food out," he said eagerly, as if Li Qian were someone very important to him.
Li Qian stood there shyly and greeted, "Hello, Uncle and Aunt."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"Xiaoqian, there's no need to be polite; just treat it like your own home."
My mom was both inviting Li Qian to sit down and constantly giving me meaningful glances.
I nodded subtly, signaling her to relax.
"Xiaoqian, how long have you and my brother been dating?"
I asked seemingly casually.
"Three months now, sister," Li Qian replied, looking down and pretending to be shy.
"Three months? That's quite a deep relationship you have," I said deliberately.
"Yes, Xiaoqian is the most gentle and kind girl I've ever met," Chen Wang said proudly.
Li Qian's face turned bright red.
"By the way, Xiaoqian, have you gained some weight recently? I noticed your belly looks a bit big."
I joked intentionally.
Li Qian's expression stiffened for a moment, then returned to normal.
"Sis, please don't tease me."
Seeing this, Chen Wang immediately stepped in to defend Li Qian.
"Sis, Xiaoqian is pregnant."
He had a beaming smile on his face.
I thought, "......"
Does it have to be so obvious?
I looked at him speechlessly, unsure of what to say.
"Really? Then congratulations to you both."
My mom chuckled awkwardly from the side.
"Thank you, Auntie."
Li Qian blushed deeply.
"Parents, Xiaoqian and I are planning to get married."
Chen Wang suddenly said.
"What?"
My dad was smoking when he heard this; his hand shook, and ash fell onto his clothes.
"Dad, I said I'm going to marry Xiaoqian."
Chen Wang repeated himself.
"You've only been dating for three months and you're getting married?"
My dad was in shock.
"Dad, I'm serious."
Chen Wang's expression was resolute.
