Ning Jing stared at me intensely, his gaze cold and filled with despair. I wanted to explain, to shout that I hadn't done anything to betray him. But I couldn't. His doubts and anger had completely engulfed him. He didn't believe a word I said.
Qiao Yan stood in the shadows, watching everything with a cold smile. He had finally succeeded. He had successfully planted the seeds of doubt in Ning Jing's heart. And that seed was growing wildly, slowly devouring Ning Jing's reason and trust.
Ning Jing looked at me, his grip tightening as if he wanted to crush my wrist. The pain made me gasp, my face turning pale, and my whole body trembled. "It hurts..." I instinctively took a step back, weakly clutching my clothes. But Ning Jing seemed mad, completely disregarding my pleas.
"Speak!" he roared. "Why did you betray me?"
"Why!" he shouted, the veins on his forehead bulging. I looked at him, my heart aching as breathing became difficult.
"Ning Jing..." I struggled to speak. "I really didn't..."
"Enough!" Ning Jing interrupted me. "I don't want to hear your lies!" He glared at me with a fierce look, like a wild beast. I stared blankly at him, tears silently streaming down my face.
"Ning Jing..."
I whispered, "Why... don't you want to believe me..."
Ning Jing remained silent.
He stared at me, his eyes red like a wounded beast.
"Because you..."
He gritted his teeth and said, "You're not worth my trust."
His voice was filled with hatred and anger.
I could only stand there in a daze, unable to utter a single word.
In Ning Jing's eyes, I had already become a traitor.
And that person hiding in the shadows, Qiao Yan...
He was laughing triumphantly, waiting to see Ning Jing's humiliation.
Ning Jing looked at me and finally let go of his grip.
A flash of undeniable pain crossed his gaze.
I fell to the ground, my heart completely shattered.
My love for him had run dry.
"Ning Jing..."
I softly said, "Please let me go."
Ning Jing trembled suddenly.
He turned to me, staring intensely, "What did you say?"
I whispered, "Let me go..."
"Ning Jing, I'm tired..."
I lowered my head as tears began to flow down my cheeks.
"I'm really... so tired..."
Ning Jing stared at me, his lips trembling slightly as if he wanted to say something.
However, in the end, he still didn't say anything at all.
I looked at him, and the last glimmer of hope in my heart extinguished. I stood up, packed my belongings, and turned to leave. Just as I opened the door and was about to step outside, Ning Jing suddenly grabbed my wrist from behind.
"Don't go..." His voice carried a hint of pleading.
I closed my eyes, tears silently streaming down my face. "Ning Jing..." I whispered, "Please let me go..."
Ning Jing remained silent. His fingers gripped me tightly, unwilling to release their hold. I tried to leave again and again, but each time, Ning Jing would abruptly seize my wrist as I turned away, pulling me back. His strength was overwhelming; I almost fell into his embrace.
He looked at me, his gaze filled with possessiveness. His expression was desperate and lonely, like a wounded little beast. It seemed he... couldn't let go. Yet he couldn't truly trust me either.
I was exhausted from this emotional tug-of-war. Just then, Lu Yu appeared. He showed up behind me as usual, his deep voice saying, "Song Yao."
His arrival was always so timely. In my moments of helplessness, he would always appear right on cue, offering me a glimmer of hope. My feelings of fear and disgust towards him, along with his obsession with me, created a twisted sense of security within me. It felt as if only Lu Yu could understand me in this world.
