The next day, Li Ruyue continued attending her tutoring classes. Due to Zhang Kai's situation, Wang Yueming began visiting the Li family frequently. Although he and Li Ruyue didn't have many opportunities to meet, he would call her every evening. Li Ruyue disliked answering calls, so Wang Yueming switched to sending her voice messages. Sometimes, when Li Ruyue didn't want to respond, Wang Yueming would keep sending messages until she replied. With no other choice, Li Ruyue ended up responding to him each time.
This went on for more than a month, and finally, the end of the month arrived. After class one day, Zhang Kai said to Li Ruyue, "I partnered with someone to open a restaurant a few days ago. I’d like to invite you all for dinner tonight."
Li Ruyue was taken aback. "You opened a restaurant?"
Zhang Kai smiled, "It's a small business, just to earn some pocket money."
Li Ruyue responded with silence for a moment before asking, "Are you sure you're inviting our whole family?"
Zhang Kai blinked, "Of course."
Li Ruyue hesitated, "So Wang Yueming is going too?"
Zhang Kai replied, "He has to go; he's my partner."
Li Ruyue felt a mix of emotions.
That evening, Li Ruyue went to Zhang Kai's restaurant with her parents. The restaurant wasn't large but had a pleasant atmosphere and decent dishes. When the Li family arrived, Wang Yueming was already there. He was sitting by the window, wearing a pair of rimless glasses and looking at the menu. The warm yellow light illuminated his face, softening his cold and distant expression considerably.
Li Ruyue looked at him, her heart suddenly racing. She quickly averted her gaze, pretending to observe the decorations around her. Father Li and Mother Li were very friendly towards Wang Yueming, after all, he had once saved Li Ruyue's life.
After the four of them sat down, Zhang Kai brought over the menu for them to order. Father Li and Mother Li let Wang Yueming order first. He didn't hold back and ordered several dishes before passing the menu to Li Ruyue. She added a soup and then returned the menu to Zhang Kai, who took it away.
The waiter brought tea, and the four of them began to chat casually. Father Li asked Wang Yueming, "Are you still teaching at Jiu Zhong?"
Wang Yueming replied, "Yes."
Father Li continued, "What grade are you teaching?"
Wang Yueming answered, "Sophomore."
Father Li remarked, "Oh, that must be quite tough."
Wang Yueming said, "It's manageable."
They chatted casually for a while until the dishes arrived. Li Ruyue quietly ate her food, occasionally sipping soup and not saying much. Wang Yueming also spoke little; he only responded briefly when Father Li brought something up.
The meal was relatively pleasant. After finishing their meal, Father Li and Mother Li left first. Li Ruyue didn't want to go home so early, so she stayed in the restaurant to play on her phone. Wang Yueming also didn't leave; he remained seated, sipping tea while looking at the menu.
After a while, Zhang Kai came over. He glanced at Wang Yueming and then at Li Ruyue before smiling and asking, "Why aren't you two going back?"
Li Ruyue did not look up and replied, "It's too early; I don't want to go back."
Zhang Kai blinked and said, "Then I'll accompany you guys."
Li Ruyue was speechless. "Don't you have anything to do?"
Zhang Kai smiled, "It's the first day of opening, there's not much business, and I'm just sitting around anyway."
Li Ruyue had no response.
The three of them sat in the store, chatting casually.
As it approached ten o'clock, Zhang Kai's phone suddenly rang. He picked it up and walked aside to take the call. After a while, he hung up and said to Wang Yueming, "Old Li and the others are coming over to 'Dream Club' and want us to join them."
Wang Yueming frowned slightly. "I'm not going. You explain it to them."
Zhang Kai replied, "No way, they said you have to go."
Wang Yueming fell silent for a moment and glanced at Li Ruyue.
Li Ruyue quickly said, "I'm fine. If you have something to do, just go ahead."
Wang Yueming hesitated for a moment and said, "Then I'll take you back."
Li Ruyue was taken aback and instinctively refused, "No need!"
Wang Yueming looked at her. "It's not safe for you to go back alone."
Li Ruyue had no words.
Zhang Kai looked at them and smiled, "Then you two go back first. I'll let them know."
Wang Yueming: "…Hmm."
