When Wang Yueming came out, she immediately ran towards him, "Why did you take so long to arrive?"
Wang Yueming explained, "I had some matters to attend to."
"Oh." Li Ruyue took the phone and didn't ask further, "Let's go."
"Okay."
The Sweet Soup Shop is located in the old street, not too far from here. They didn't take a car and walked there leisurely.
On the way, Li Ruyue kept stealing glances at Wang Yueming.
She felt that something seemed off about him today.
But she couldn't quite pinpoint what exactly was wrong.
Li Ruyue observed him quietly all the way until they arrived at the Sweet Soup Shop, but she still couldn't figure it out.
In the end, Li Ruyue gave up.
Forget it; after all, he wasn't talking, and even if she wanted to ask, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
The Sweet Soup Shop was small but had quite a few customers. They waited for a while before getting a table.
Li Ruyue wiped the table clean with a napkin, pulled Wang Yueming to sit down, and eagerly asked the owner for the menu.
Wang Yueming sat across from her, watching her as she focused on studying the menu, somewhat lost in thought.
Li Ruyue flipped through several pages and struggled with her choices. She quietly asked him, "What do you want to drink?"
Wang Yueming snapped back to reality and stared at her for a while before replying, "The same as you."
"…Oh."
Li Ruyue buried herself in the menu again and after some time finally made her choice: "Owner, I would like a cup of taro milk tea, a cup of mango sago dessert, a cup of pearl milk tea, a cup of red bean sago pudding, a cup of mango taro smoothie, a cup of taro balls…"
Wang Yueming: "…"
The owner: "…Little girl, how many people are you ordering for?"
Li Ruyue blinked: "Just the two of us."
The owner looked troubled: "Then why are you ordering so much? Can you finish it all?"
"You can take what you can't finish," Li Ruyue said matter-of-factly. "Is that not okay?"
"…Fine."
Wang Yueming knew she was doing it on purpose. She ordered so much, clearly intending for him to pay so she could return the favor.
Wang Yueming didn't understand why Li Ruyue had to be so meticulous about everything. He felt a bit uncomfortable but said nothing, silently paying the bill.
Li Ruyue pretended not to notice his reluctance, cheerfully accepting the milk tea handed to her by the owner and taking a sip.
Wang Yueming watched her in silence.
Li Ruyue pursed her lips and then looked up. "Don't you want to drink?"
Wang Yueming nodded slightly.
Li Ruyue pushed another cup of milk tea toward him. "Then you can have this one."
Wang Yueming glanced at her. "Aren't you drinking?"
"I don't like milk tea."
Wang Yueming didn't believe her. He remembered that Li Ruyue used to love milk tea, and the cups she just ordered were all her favorites from before.
He looked into her eyes. "Then why did you order it?"
Li Ruyue blinked. "…To make you pay."
Wang Yueming remained silent.
Feeling guilty, Li Ruyue dared not look at him and muttered softly, "I didn't plan to order this much; you were the one who said to order the same as me…"
Wang Yueming knew she was making excuses, but seeing her cautious demeanor made him reluctant to argue further. He sighed and took a sip from his milk tea cup.
Li Ruyue peeked at him. "Is it good?"
Wang Yueming nodded. "…It's pretty good."
Li Ruyue stared at him for a while and suddenly smiled, "Then let's buy some more."
Wang Yueming replied, "……"
In the end, Li Ruyue really ordered a few more cups of milk tea.
Seeing her satisfied expression, Wang Yueming felt a little better.
He remembered that Li Ruyue used to be easy to please; as long as he bought her something delicious, she would be happy all day long. It seemed to be the same now.
Wang Yueming looked at the milk tea in her hands and suddenly asked, "Can you carry that?"
Li Ruyue nodded, "I can carry it."
"I'll help you then."
Li Ruyue hesitated for a moment but didn't refuse.
So in the end, it turned into Li Ruyue walking ahead while Wang Yueming followed behind, carrying a bunch of milk tea.
