A week later, Zhang Kai's injury had healed, and Wang Yueming no longer needed to attend classes on his behalf.
That noon, while having lunch together, Zhang Kai suddenly asked him, "What's been going on with you lately?"
"What do you mean?" Wang Yueming replied.
"I feel like you're not in a good mood," Zhang Kai said. "Is something bothering you?"
"Nothing's wrong," Wang Yueming said. "I'm just a bit tired."
"That's good to hear," Zhang Kai said. "If anything comes up, make sure to tell me."
"Okay."

Before they knew it, mid-August had arrived, and summer vacation was coming to an end. Wang Yueming and Zhang Kai began preparing to return to school.
That morning, while Wang Yueming was packing his things in the dormitory, he suddenly heard his phone ring. He picked it up; it was a call from Zhang Kai.
"Hello?" Wang Yueming answered the phone.
"Wang Yueming," Zhang Kai said, "could you do me another favor?"
"What kind of favor?"
"The kid I tutor, his parents want him to take an extra class," Zhang Kai explained. "I'm too busy; could you help me out for a while?"
"Sure," Wang Yueming said. "When?"
"Tomorrow morning," Zhang Kai replied. "I'll send you the address."
"Alright."
At seven in the evening, after finishing the tutoring session, Wang Yueming came out of Li Xiaoxing's house right on time.
"Teacher Zhang," Li Xiaoxing asked curiously, "did you know my sister before?"
"I don't know," Wang Yueming said. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Li Xiaoxing shrugged. "I just feel like you two seem very familiar with each other."
"Really?" Wang Yueming smiled. "You're overthinking it."
"Maybe."
Wang Yueming packed up his things. "I'm leaving."
"Goodbye, Teacher."
Just as Wang Yueming was about to leave, Mother Li walked out of the kitchen. "Teacher, don't go. Stay and have dinner with us."
"No, thank you," Wang Yueming replied. "I have something to do."
"Oh," Mother Li said. "Then let Xiaoyue see you off."
"No need," Wang Yueming said. "She's not feeling well; let her rest."
Before Mother Li could respond, Li Ruyue walked out of the bedroom. "I'll see you off."
Wang Yueming looked at her. "You..."
"Let's go," Li Ruyue said. "I'll walk you downstairs."
Wang Yueming didn't say anything and followed her outside.
The two of them reached the elevator and stopped.
Wang Yueming looked at the elevator and asked Li Ruyue, "Did you forget your umbrella?"
"Yeah," Li Ruyue nodded. "I forgot it."
"Then can I borrow your umbrella?" Wang Yueming said. "I'll return it to you tonight."
"Sure," Li Ruyue replied. "It's in the drawer."
Wang Yueming walked over, opened the drawer, and took out the umbrella.
He turned to look at Li Ruyue. "Then I'm off."
"Okay."
Wang Yueming turned and stepped into the elevator, with Li Ruyue following him inside to see him off at the door.
"I’m leaving."
"Okay."
Wang Yueming walked out of the hallway and suddenly remembered something: "Did you change your number?"
"Yeah."
"Give it to me."
"Huh?"
"Your phone number."
"..."
Li Ruyue hesitated for a moment, took out her phone, and handed it to Wang Yueming.
Wang Yueming took it, entered his number, and called himself.
A few seconds later, his phone rang.
He hung up and returned the phone to Li Ruyue: "It went through."
"Okay."
"Then I'm leaving."
"Alright."
Wang Yueming turned to leave, and Li Ruyue watched him walk away until he disappeared from sight before turning back into the house.
"Sis," Li Xiaoxing asked, "Did the teacher leave?"
"Yeah."
"What did you talk about?"
"Nothing," Li Ruyue said, "Let's eat quickly."
"Okay."
