The godfather slowly carried two old clothes and returned to the church with heavy steps.
His heart was filled with mixed feelings, and he could still hear Fareena's words echoing in his ears: "Dear godfather, our business is really not doing well this year. We haven't sold a single piece of clothing."
The godfather couldn't help but feel a hint of bitterness in his heart. He knew the reason behind it all. Weren't those merchants just banding together to withhold sales and hoard the goods to sell at a higher price?
But at this moment, what concerned him more were those brothers and sisters who were ragged and suffering from hunger and cold.
"But as fellow children of God, how can I sit by and watch them suffer?" Fareena said, as if making a decision, "I will donate some clothes from the warehouse to the church, hoping they can get through this cold winter."
However, when the priest saw the two tattered pieces of clothing, a sense of disappointment welled up in his heart.
He originally thought that he could at least donate some slightly better clothes, but now it seems that these merchants are really shameless to the extreme.
The godfather quietly walked into the church with the clothes, his heart filled with worry. He knew that these two pieces of clothing were just a drop in the bucket for the needs of the entire church.
"Oh, what should I do this year," the godfather sighed softly, filled with helplessness and confusion.
"Or maybe I should apply for some supplies from the cathedral?" This thought flashed through the godfather's mind. But then, he immediately began to worry, "Would that make me seem incompetent?"
The godfather's mood grew heavier, feeling as if his shoulders were bearing a thousand-pound burden. However, when he thought of his brothers and sisters in desperate need of help, he immediately reaffirmed his own beliefs.
"The people of God are freezing to death, and you are still concerned about your reputation," the godfather harshly slapped himself, a glint of determination in his eyes.
Thinking of this, the father decided not to hesitate anymore. He couldn't wait to go back to the room and sit down to start writing a letter to the cathedral to request material assistance.
At the moment he arrived at the cathedral, in the dim light, a figure was already waiting there quietly. The father squinted, trying to make out the identity of the person.
"Who are you?" the godfather asked in confusion.
The other person turned around, and the godfather didn't recognize him for a moment, because Brian hadn't appeared in the church for a long time, and his presence was rarely seen even at those high society gatherings.
"Godfather, hello, I am Brian." The other person smiled and introduced himself, "I heard that you have recently encountered some difficulties, so I came here hoping to offer a little help."
The Godfather's mind quickly flashed with the name of The Dresden family, and he suddenly realized, "Brian, Brian, oh, I remember now, you are from The Dresden family."
Brian nodded and smiled gently, "Baron, hello. I heard that you are preparing supplies for the Winter Festival, and I have brought some things as well, hoping to be of help to the church."
The godfather secretly speculated that Brian would just donate a bag or two of food or a few pieces of clothing like everyone else. After all, Brian was known for his poverty in the circle.
However, the godfather thought again, and realized that for someone so poor to be willing to donate goods, this gesture was quite rare. So, his opinion of the nobleman improved slightly.
"God will definitely bless you, Brian," the godfather said with emotion.
"You can leave your things here, I will have someone come to tidy up later."
Brian smiled mysteriously and said slowly, "But, I may have a lot of things. A warehouse full of masks, socks, gloves. Where do you think it's appropriate to put them?"
The Godfather was shocked at the words, his eyes widened instantly. A warehouse full of supplies? This is much more than he expected! He quickly turned to look at Brian, only to see a confident and warm smile on his face, as if all of this was within his expectations.
The godfather felt a warm surge of gratitude towards Brian, which he couldn't express enough. He knew deep down that in this cold winter, these supplies would be a great help to the church and those in need.
"Baron, I heard that you..."
The godfather still can't believe that Brian, who is so poor, would actually donate a warehouse of supplies, which truly surprises and astounds him.
Brian smiles, with a confident gleam in his eyes, and softly says, "I heard that my financial situation isn't too good, right?" The godfather nods slightly, having heard some rumors about this nobleman's financial situation.
Brian continued nonchalantly, "However, I have already established a factory and produced a large batch of products. Moreover, I am willing to donate them all to help those poor people get through this cold winter."
Upon hearing this, the godfather's eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, then he gratefully said, "Thank you so much, Brian. You are so kind, and the gods will surely bless you."
However, Brian suddenly changed the subject and said lightly, "But I have one condition."
The godfather's heart tightened slightly, thinking that this nobleman would not easily donate so much material, but still politely asked, "What condition? Please go ahead and speak."
Brian took something out of his pocket and handed it to the godfather, saying calmly, "When you distribute these items, make sure to give these things to them together."
The godfather took the note handed over by Brian and couldn't help but feel a sense of unease, as if he was about to face a demon.
He tremblingly unfolded the note, only to see the following written on it:
"10% off coupon, use this coupon to purchase specified products at a 10% discount."
The godfather was dumbfounded, looking at Brian in disbelief, and stammered, "What, this is actually a coupon!"
Brian nodded with a smile and explained, "Yes, as long as you have this note, you can purchase my products at a 10% discount." The godfather was completely stunned; he couldn't imagine that this nobleman would propose such a condition.
He widened his eyes and asked in a trembling voice, "What do you mean by this? Do you know this will cause a loss?"
But Brian shook his head nonchalantly and said, "You don't need to worry about that. You just need to distribute these coupons to the poor when giving out supplies, and tell them where they can buy things."
The godfather felt a surge of complex emotions. He was both grateful for Brian's generosity and puzzled and worried by his actions. He understood the nobleman's intentions but couldn't help but wonder whether this approach was right or wrong.
As Brian looked at the godfather's expression, he smiled gently, as if he had already seen through his doubts. He patted the godfather's shoulder and said:
"Baron, don't worry. I have my reasons for doing this. These coupons will not only provide warmth to the poor in the cold winter, but also give them more choices and opportunities in the future. I also believe that the divine will bless those who are kind and hardworking."
Listening to Brian's words, the godfather couldn't help but feel a warm surge in his heart. He looked deeply at the nobleman and silently nodded in agreement.
