The fat man gazed into the distance at the dark mass ahead; it was the vanguard of Huo Qing's army, banners fluttering and weapons glinting like a forest. The scene made him momentarily feel as if he had returned to the Great Ben Dynasty, recalling those years of clashing swords and galloping horses, a time when they swept across the land like tigers.
"General, what are you thinking about?" Cang Feng asked calmly, following the fat man's gaze.
"Nothing," the fat man replied, shaking his head with a bitter smile. "Just reminiscing about some past events."
"Oh?" Cang Feng raised an eyebrow, his gaze deepening. "Missing home?"
"Home..." The fat man repeated softly, a hint of loneliness flashing in his eyes. "Maybe."
Cang Feng did not press further but turned his gaze back to the distance and said slowly, "Do you know that Huo Qing has brought their secret weapon from the Great Yin Dynasty—the Magic Crystal Catapult?"
"The Magic Crystal Catapult?" The fat man's heart jolted; he was not unfamiliar with that name. In the military intelligence of the Great Yin Dynasty, it was known as a powerful and extremely rare siege weapon.
Cang Feng nodded seriously. "It is said that this catapult uses magic crystals as its power core, has an extremely long range, and its destructive power is astonishing. Ordinary city walls cannot withstand even a single strike."
"Such a powerful weapon..." The fat man murmured, his brow furrowed tightly. He realized that this war would be far more difficult than he had imagined.
Cang Feng patted his shoulder, a trace of barely perceptible concern in his tone. "Roselle, I know you have great military talent, but this time is different from before; you need to be mentally prepared."
The fat man lifted his head, determination flashing in his eyes. "Don't worry, Instructor Cang Feng. I won't let you down." He clenched his fists and fixed his gaze firmly on the distance, silently vowing to defend this city and protect his homeland at all costs.
On the battlefield, the imperial army was retreating under the bombardment of the Magic Crystal Catapult. Smoke filled the air atop the city walls as debris flew everywhere; soldiers fled in panic, some even crushed to pulp by falling boulders. The fat man stood on the battlements, his brow furrowed deeply and his eyes bloodshot.
Watching from afar as the towering city gate crumbled to dust under the terrifying power of the Magic Crystal Catapult felt like a heavy blow to his heart; all that remained in his mind were the words "It's over."
"This won't work..." The fat man murmured to himself, his face pale.
"General, what should we do now?" a Messenger beside him asked in panic, his voice trembling slightly.
The Fat Man did not respond, but stared intently at the distant Magic Crystal Catapult, a dangerous glint in his eyes. He knew that if he didn't come up with a countermeasure, the city would fall today.
"Send the order down, all troops retract the defense line and retreat to the inner city!" The Fat Man took a deep breath and commanded loudly.
"Retreat to the inner city?" Cang Feng, standing nearby, frowned at the Fat Man's order. "Roselle, think this through. The defenses of the inner city are far weaker than those of the outer city. If..."
"I know!" The Fat Man interrupted Cang Feng, his tone unusually firm. "But we have no other choice! Rather than waiting for death, we might as well take a gamble!"
Cang Feng wanted to persuade him further but was suddenly grabbed by the shoulder by the Fat Man. "Instructor Cang Feng, trust me!" The Fat Man's eyes were filled with confidence and a hint of cunning that Cang Feng couldn't quite understand.
Cang Feng paused for a moment but eventually nodded and turned to relay the orders.
Watching Cang Feng's departing figure, the Fat Man turned to Qingyin, his tone carrying a subtle warmth. "Qingyin, this time, we might have to take a risk."
"A risk?" Qingyin frowned slightly, seemingly guessing what the Fat Man was thinking. "You mean..."
"Exactly," the Fat Man nodded, a confident smile forming on his lips. "We're betting on Huo Qing's pride and arrogance!"
"But..." A trace of worry flashed in Qingyin's eyes. "Are you sure about this?"
The Fat Man said nothing; he simply patted Qingyin's shoulder before turning to walk toward the castle gate below.
"Open the city gates!" The Fat Man shouted loudly at the soldiers guarding the city.
"General, are you crazy?" The soldiers exchanged glances, unable to believe their ears.
"This is an order!" The chubby man spoke with an undeniable tone.
Although the soldiers were filled with fear, military orders were absolute, and they slowly opened the city gates.
"All soldiers, follow my lead and charge out to meet the enemy!" The chubby man mounted his horse, raising his longsword high, and was the first to rush out of the city gates.
"Kill!" A thunderous battle cry erupted from the imperial army as the soldiers followed closely behind the chubby man, charging towards Huo Qing's forces without hesitation.
"Report to the general! The imperial army has suddenly opened the city gates and is launching a counterattack!" In Huo Qing's tent, a scout knelt on one knee, urgently reporting the situation.
"What?" Huo Qing stood up abruptly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "They dare to take the initiative? Could there be some kind of plot?"
"General, should we issue orders to engage?" asked the deputy general beside him.
Huo Qing pondered for a moment, then a cold smile appeared on his lips. "Send the order down: the entire army must engage and annihilate the imperial forces in one fell swoop!"
"Understood!" The deputy general took his leave to carry out the orders.
"Roselle Blackgold, have you finally lost your composure?" Huo Qing gazed towards the direction of the imperial army, a glint of cold light in his eyes. "Let me see what else you are capable of!"
With that, Huo Qing mounted his horse and led his army forward to confront the imperial forces.
