"Um..."
Xia Xiaoyu was taken aback. She somewhat understood Xu Qian's words, but she could tell from Xu Qian's expression that it was a serious problem.
Finally, after nearly two minutes of silence, Xia Xiaoyu nodded slightly.
Seeing Xia Xiaoyu nod, Xu Qian also fell silent for a moment.
She was a woman who wasn't very bold and loved to meddle in others' affairs. With a naturally weak disposition, it was hard to believe that being friends with her was also a challenge.
"Tell me what happened. Where is your friend now?"
Finally, Xu Qian compromised, turning the car around while asking.
"Jingming Park, but when I got there, no one was inside! I couldn't find her at all!"
Xia Xiaoyu said anxiously.
"Don't panic; don't lose your composure!"
Xu Qian said while driving and looking around.
"What are you looking at?"
Xia Xiaoyu asked with a puzzled expression, finding it difficult to understand what Xu Qian was doing as she glanced around.
"If you look outside carefully, you'll notice something different!"
Xu Qian replied and then asked, "Where did your friend come from before going to Jingming Park?"
"Let's go to Jingming Park directly after leaving the university."
Realizing this was no joke, and seeing Xu Qian's tense expression, Xia Xiaoyu understood that they were not facing a terrifying monster, but what they encountered was even more frightening.
"Um..."
They were almost at Jingming Park when Xu Qian suddenly turned the car around.
"What are you doing?" Xia Xiaoyu asked, confused.
"Shh, look closely!"
Xu Qian didn't say much. After spending a long time dealing with Zifeng, he had picked up some knowledge about certain things, even if he wasn't as familiar as Zifeng.
Xu Qian kept glancing out the car window, and Xia Xiaoyu found it strange that he always drove close to Jingming Park before turning back, repeatedly going back to the university entrance. This happened at least three times, leaving Xia Xiaoyu feeling helpless.
"What are you really doing?"
On their fourth trip from the university entrance towards Jingming Park, Xia Xiaoyu finally couldn't hold back her question. After all, Lin Xi's life was uncertain, and she didn't want to waste time driving in circles.
"I know you don't want me to go, so you're planning to drive in circles until dawn, right?" Xia Xiaoyu continued.
"You've got it wrong; you should be looking outside!"
Xu Qian smiled, but his smile seemed forced.
Xia Xiaoyu looked at Xu Qian in confusion and then shifted her gaze outside the car.
There was not a single change; she could not see anything different. There were still trees, small shops, and roads.
Wait! Xia Xiaoyu squinted her eyes, as if sensing something unusual. She looked again at the small shop in the distance.
She remembered that during her previous visits, the shop was clearly open and the lights were on. However, now it was tightly closed.
Even though it was late, there would still be some nightclubs doing a bit of business. Strangely, during her previous visits, many places were open, unlike now where everything was locked up tight.
This was a bit unusual.
Then Xia Xiaoyu thought of something else. In the city, no matter which corner you were in, even if Cherry Blossom University was somewhat remote, there would still be cars passing by at night. But to her surprise, Xu Qian had been driving for a long time without seeing a single person or vehicle.
Outside looked exactly the same; it was still the road leading to Jingming Park, yet she did not notice any moving objects.
Moreover, the places where vehicles had been parked during her previous trips were completely empty—nothing at all.
The surroundings were unusually quiet; this was not a normal state of affairs. This was not a typical phenomenon.
Everything was dark and shadowy; everything seemed to be an illusion. There were no people—only Xu Qian and Xia Xiaoyu driving on an empty road?
This was different from her previous visits.
