Dim and shadowy, like a pair of empty black holes without any whites!
“Surin!”
A flat, toneless voice came from her lips. She glanced at the bed number four behind Xia Xiaoyu. Then she said, “That bed isn’t good; you should change to another one!”
“Not good?”
Xia Xiaoyu was taken aback, surprised as she looked at Surin, then glanced at her own bed, not noticing anything wrong with it.
It was just like the other beds!
“Stay on the upper bunk! That bed isn’t good.” The same toneless tone continued to come from Surin.
Xia Xiaoyu couldn’t understand at all. She felt that Surin had some quirks; she didn’t point at people, and even her way of speaking was the same. Clearly, Xia Xiaoyu did not grasp what exactly Surin meant by saying it was not good.
“No, it’s perfectly fine!” Xia Xiaoyu still smiled, feeling a strange unease when facing those eyes.
“Suit yourself!”
Surin stopped talking and didn’t scrutinize Xia Xiaoyu. She merely offered a slight smile in return.
Though it was a smile, it gave Xia Xiaoyu a chilling sense of foreboding. It felt as if Surin’s entire being was stiff, and the smile that appeared at the corners of her mouth seemed to be pulled out by someone’s hand, making it look eerie and deeply significant.
Xia Xiaoyu was not talking to Su Ran; she was afraid that if she continued, she wouldn't have the courage to do so.
"It's past nine!"
On the wall of the dormitory hung a huge clock. It matched well with the old dormitory building.
"Xia Xiaoyu, I have some good news. Do you want to hear it?" Lin Xi leaned in, smiling mysteriously.
"What good news?"
Xia Xiaoyu became interested and asked.
"Cao Bao is also at this school; I saw him today." Thinking of that honest and simple guy, Lin Xi couldn't help but chuckle.
In high school, everyone often teased him and made fun of him, but he was so clueless that he just laughed foolishly when they played pranks on him. So instead of calling him by his name, they simply called him "Wood."
This didn't mean he was foolish; rather, he just didn't understand girls' feelings at all. Being from the mountains, he was naturally simple and honest, and he was a bit chubby, which made him appear even more straightforward.
Once, a man met a woman at the entrance of a bar. The woman drove the man into the mountains and then took off her clothes, telling him he could do whatever he wanted. The man paused for a moment and then drove away!
Although this is a joke, it serves as a metaphor for how clueless Cao Bao can be; perhaps he could actually do something like that!
He wasn't stupid; he was just slow when it came to understanding relationships between men and women. He couldn't figure out how to make girls happy and would only laugh foolishly regardless of whether he was sad or happy.
On the contrary, academically, he excelled. Even among some well-known top students in high school, he was often more impressive than them.
"Cut, what does it have to do with me?"
Upon hearing the name Cao Bao, Xia Xiaoyu's eyes shifted slightly, and she muttered dismissively.
"Hehe. Back in high school, everyone could tell he liked you!"
Thinking of how Cao Bao looked at Xia Xiaoyu every time they met, even if he tried to hide it, anyone who had experienced life in this city could see that he really liked her.
However, he never expressed it; perhaps it was due to his insecurity.
"Cut, I don't want him to like me." Xia Xiaoyu said nonchalantly. By nature, girls seek someone handsome, sunny, successful, gentle, generous, someone who can make them laugh when they're crying and comfort them when they're sad.
Not someone who just stands there grinning like an idiot.
The tall, rich, and handsome type will always be the first choice for girls in the twenty-first century.

A hero gets angry for a beauty; a beauty smiles for money!
Cao Bao is a nice guy, but a dull person won't attract many girls. A man who isn't bad will eventually be kicked aside.
