As soon as he stepped out, he encountered Li Wan.
Li Wan looked at him and asked, "Have you seen an old lady?"
Gaoyuan shook his head and replied, "No, what's wrong?"
"She’s gone missing," Li Wan said with concern.
"Don't worry, I'll help you look for her," Gaoyuan offered.
"Okay," Li Wan nodded.
The two of them separated to search.
Gaoyuan searched around but couldn't find the old lady, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He walked into a convenience store to buy a bottle of water.
As soon as he entered, he spotted the old lady. She was leaning on a cane, unsteadily making her way forward.
Gaoyuan immediately approached her and said, "Grandma, let me help you."
"Thank you, young man," the old lady said gratefully.
"You're welcome," Gaoyuan smiled.
The old lady walked to the shelf and looked at the milk pudding, saying, "This looks delicious."
Gaoyuan quickly picked up a milk pudding and placed it in her hands, saying, "Grandma, this is for you."
"Oh dear, I can't accept this," the old lady hurriedly declined.
"Please take it," Gaoyuan insisted with a smile.
"Then... I'll pay you for it," the old lady said as she took out her wallet.
"No need for that, Grandma," Gaoyuan pressed her hand down gently. "Just enjoy it."
"You’re such a good person," the old lady said, touched.
Gaoyuan smiled but remained silent as he helped her walk to the checkout counter. After paying, he handed the milk pudding back to her and said, "Grandma, please enjoy it."
"Okay," the old lady replied as she took the pudding, opened it, and took a bite. "It's really delicious."
Gaoyuan watched her and smiled. He then looked up and saw Li Wan standing at the door.
He hurried outside and asked, "Did you find her?"
Li Wan shook her head and replied, "No."
"I found her," Gaoyuan said proudly.
"Really?" Li Wan looked at him in surprise.
"Yes," Gaoyuan nodded. "She's inside."
"That's great," Li Wan sighed in relief. "Let's hurry back."
"Mm," Gaoyuan replied.
Li Wan turned and ran ahead.
Gaoyuan followed behind her.
Li Wan's long hair was blown by the wind, gently brushing against his cheek.
He couldn't help but reach out to grab her hair.
Li Wan stopped and looked at him, "Why are you grabbing my hair?"
Gaoyuan smiled at her, "Your hair looks nice."
Li Wan was taken aback, her cheeks turning slightly red. "You... don't flatter me."
"I'm not flattering you," Gaoyuan said with a smile. "I'm just stating a fact."
Li Wan's face turned even redder, "You... stop talking."
Seeing her shy demeanor, Gaoyuan couldn't help but tease her, "Why are you so easily embarrassed?"
"I..." Li Wan was at a loss for words.
She didn't know why; she just felt shy very easily, especially in front of him.
A casual remark from him could make her blush.
She lowered her head, unable to look at him, "I... I'm going home now."
"I'll walk you home," Gaoyuan said.
"No need..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Gaoyuan had already walked ahead.
Li Wan had no choice but to follow him.
They walked side by side in silence, neither of them speaking.
Li Wan's ears were flushed red.
She felt her heart racing fast.
It was a strange feeling—something she had never experienced before.
She couldn't help but steal a glance at him.
He was really handsome.
With sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, his features were well-defined.
Especially those eyes; they seemed to draw people in.
She was so captivated that she didn't even realize they had arrived home.
"Li Wan," Gaoyuan suddenly called her name.
"Ah?" Li Wan snapped back to reality.
She looked at him, confusion in her eyes, "What is it?"
Gaoyuan looked at her and smiled, "You’re home now."
"Oh," Li Wan replied.
She turned and walked towards her house.
Gaoyuan stood in place, watching her leave.
When Li Wan reached the door, she stopped, turned around, and looked at him, "You... you should hurry back too."
"Okay," Gaoyuan responded.
Li Wan turned back and walked into her house.
She closed the door, leaned against it, and covered her chest, taking a deep breath.
What was wrong with her?
Why was she so nervous?
She slapped her face lightly, trying to calm herself down.
She walked to the window and looked outside.
Gaoyuan was still standing there.
He was looking at her with a smile on his lips.
Li Wan's face turned red again.
She quickly pulled the curtains shut and turned her back to the window.
She felt like she was really going crazy.
How did it come to this?
She tapped her head and walked to the bed, lying down.
She closed her eyes, trying hard to calm herself down.
She couldn't let her thoughts run wild.
She still had to take the college entrance exam.
