Wu Zheng blocked my way at the stairway.
I turned to the side to avoid him, but he playfully lifted my chin.
I slapped his hand away and said, "Don't touch me."
Wu Zheng took a step back, still smiling, "Ranran, you're being too cold to me."
Just then, Liang Jingjing ran down the stairs, "Sister, what are you two doing?"
I looked at her expressionlessly and replied, "Liang Jingjing, take care of your boyfriend."
Liang Jingjing was taken aback for a moment before pulling Wu Zheng's arm, "Wu Zheng, didn't you say there was nothing between you and my sister?"
Wu Zheng feigned innocence, "Your sister was joking with me; I didn't catch on right away."
Liang Jingjing widened her eyes in surprise and looked at me, "Sister, you need to be careful with your jokes. Wu Zheng is quite conservative; you can't make those kinds of jokes."
I curled my lips into a cold smile and turned back to my room.
"Don't bring just anyone to the apartment in the future; I don't want to feel awkward."
I sent a message to Liang Jingjing.
She readily agreed.
But then she turned around and went out on a date with Wu Zheng.
That night, while I was taking a shower, the light above flickered twice and suddenly went out.
I fumbled in the dark bathroom when my fingertips unexpectedly brushed against a hand.
A man's hand.
I quickly recoiled.
Wu Zheng covered my mouth and pinned me against the wall.
He bit my neck, and I caught a whiff of his cologne.
I struggled desperately.
Wu Zheng left several marks on my neck.
He lowered his voice, breathing heavily as he said, "Don't scream; it's me."
Without hesitation, I slapped him hard and then bit down fiercely on his shoulder. Wu Zheng fled in panic.
I put on my clothes and came out of the bathroom to find Liang Jingjing standing in the living room, holding a phone with a look of sheer panic on her face.
"Just now..."
I picked up my phone and called the police: "I want to report an assault; I was attacked by Wu Zheng." However, the apartment's surveillance cameras happened to be broken that day. Wu Zheng also provided an alibi.
Liang Jingjing grabbed my hand, looking earnest. "Sister, I know you hate me, but you can't slander Wu Zheng like this. He's such a good person; how could you accuse him?"
"You must apologize to Wu Zheng."
I scoffed, "In your dreams."
Liang Jingjing and I had a falling out.
We were scheduled to attend a show together, and when we stepped outside, we found the area packed with fans—more than double the usual crowd.
I frowned; our itinerary was always kept confidential. How did the fans know our route?
The manager's face turned pale as he immediately began investigating. They also called in several security guards to maintain order at the scene.
Liang Jingjing and I sat in the van; she looked troubled, her fingers nervously twisting together.
When Liang Jingjing changed into her performance outfit, I noticed numerous scars on her arms, as if she had been scalded by hot water.
"What happened?"
Liang Jingjing shot me a glance but said nothing.
After she finished changing, she turned and walked away.
Every day that followed, her injuries increased, and she even got a belly button piercing.
I warned her, "Be careful not to get caught on camera during performances."
She shrugged it off, "So what?"
Not long after, many intimate photos of Liang Jingjing and Wu Zheng circulated online. Everyone was speculating about their relationship. The impact of this incident was significant; I had to turn down all my work and hide at home. A month later, Liang Jingjing was finally found. She looked completely transformed, with a higher nose bridge, a sharper chin, and even her hair dyed blonde.
