I looked at Mina and asked.
She appeared calm and said, "Don't worry, my Mrs. Xiao. They are just as eager to find out where Xiao Minxing's weakness lies. They would love to take him down in one go. Right now, you are the only one he is protecting, so they hardly have a chance to act. Just think about it: if you actively invite them now, do you think they wouldn't come?"

I looked at her and asked, "Shouldn't you come with me to meet them?"
Mina immediately rolled her eyes at me and said, "Are you kidding? If they might not even say anything in front of you, there's no way they'd say anything in front of me as an outsider. Maybe if I show up, they'll stop saying what they originally intended to say. Besides, to be honest, I don't want to know those secrets of the Xiao Family. My life is more important."
She made a gesture across her throat as if indicating silencing someone, which sent a chill down my spine.
After discussing everything, we made a plan. Considering that it would be easier to approach Xiao Minhui, I would call her and arrange to meet on Saturday morning at a Western Restaurant in Haicheng.
This was all Mina's idea; she thought the Western Restaurant would be quiet with fewer people, making it convenient for discussions while also making it harder for the other party to act.
I had no experience and decided to follow her lead. We agreed that we must not let Xiao Minxing find out; otherwise, this plan would definitely fail.
On Thursday afternoon, while Xiao Minxing was in a meeting, I picked up my Mobile Phone and called Xiao Minhui.
Although I hadn't saved her number, it hadn't been long since I last called her, so the records were still there and easy to find.
Just as Mina had said, she was surprised when she received my call but quickly became cautious and asked whether Xiao Minxing had asked me to call or if it was my own initiative.
I followed the script I initially agreed upon with Mina and said, "It was me who hit him. You know I'm getting a divorce now."
Xiao Minhui laughed on the other end; "Really? I heard you are now working at Zhi Xing, as his personal secretary."

On Saturday, Xiao Minxing was supposed to work overtime at the company. I said I wanted to go shopping with Mina and didn't want to go.

I shook my head and said, "I don't know yet, but Mina mentioned she found a store that specializes in maternity and baby products with great stuff. She wants to take me to check it out. Don't worry; Mina will be with me; nothing will happen. We'll definitely be back before noon."
He finally didn't say anything more and drove himself to work.
Half an hour after he left, Mina arrived downstairs at our building.
Sister Liu followed Xiao Minxing's instructions and made sure to send me into her car before heading back.
Mina glanced at me while driving and said, "You're just like some ambassador from a certain country now, needing a nanny to escort you out and a beautiful woman to catch you. I'm really envious; I want to marry a rich and handsome man too."
"Isn't Zhuo Feng that kind of guy? If you marry him, he would definitely be happy," I replied.
Mina's expression darkened. "Don't mention him to me. He's not as good-looking as Xiao Zong and doesn't have his wealth. The most annoying thing is that he has no sense of romance; he's just a blockhead."
I turned my face to look at Mina and asked, "Do you really think that, or are you just saying it for my sake? Mina fell silent and didn't speak for a long time.
Because of the incident in the surveillance footage last time, I had been thinking about her previous boyfriend, so I took this opportunity to cautiously ask, "Do you still have contact with that guy?"
Mina shifted her gaze to the front of the car, seemingly ignoring my question as she focused on driving.

"Then... haven't you thought about looking for him?" I asked carefully, genuinely afraid she might do something like she did during the Yunnan trip and go off to find him.
But some things are better out in the open than hidden away; maybe that would help things get better faster.
Upon hearing my words, Mina turned to look at me and then said bitterly, "If I knew where to find him, would I still be waiting until now? Every time we met was on his schedule and at his chosen location; I just went along. And each time was in a different place. Looking back now, he was just an illusion. I even doubt whether what happened between us was real or if I simply dreamed it or saw a ghost."
