That night, I didn't go home or return to my previous room to sleep; instead, I went back to his room with Xiao Minxing.
At ten past midnight, I remembered his intentions and made an effort to sit up, looking at his half-closed eyes under the desk lamp, I asked, "Have you already planned this?"
He didn't open his eyes or move his body; he just slightly parted his lips and casually asked, "What?"
I had completely sat up, leaning against the headboard and looking down at him lying there, my mind racing with how to clarify this matter.
But before I could speak, Xiao Minxing folded himself up first.
He leaned against the headboard as well, naturally wrapping my body in his arms and covering me with the blanket before saying, "When the weather gets cooler, remember to put on a thick coat when you get up. By the way, I checked your bedroom; the clothes rack is too far from the head of the bed. You won't be able to reach it quickly at night. You should tidy it up later."
A warmth spread in my heart, and I swallowed the question I had intended to ask.
What does it matter? So what if we are divorced? Many lovers are together without being married, right? Why should I be so particular about this?
Even if tonight's sleeping arrangement was deliberately set by Xiao Minxing, I accepted it. Moreover, the feeling of whispering together while lying close was truly wonderful—something I had longed for but never obtained in the past.
He ran his hand through my hair; the motion was somewhat stiff but sincere. In the light, I could see his eyes appearing very dark, like a child's.
We sat there quietly, our shadows reflected on the blanket, overlapping into a blurry mass.
Xiao Minxing picked up his mobile phone to check the time and said, "After a long day, we should rest early."
"I'm not tired; you did all the work," I replied softly. My fingers couldn't help but move; through the thin fabric of my clothes, I could feel his solid abs and strong bone structure.
"Have you lost a lot of weight? I remember it was hard to feel your bones before," I looked up at him and asked.
Xiao Minxing suddenly smiled. When he turned to look at me again, there was a mischievous glint in his eyes: "You’ve touched me before?"
His words made my face flush. The time we actually shared a bed was limited, and back then, I didn't dare to move boldly around him. Everything I knew about him was discovered while he was asleep or sometimes when we showered together.
But how could I say that?
I shrank deeper into the blanket and mumbled, "Let's sleep? You're not that tired."
Xiao Minxing lay down beside me, his arm naturally wrapping around my waist, his palm resting on my stomach.
There was something unusual behind me; I could feel something hard pressing against my hip, but I didn’t dare to move. Although everything seemed normal now, given the past experiences, I couldn’t even think about such things.
Xiao Minxing didn’t move either. He slowly caressed my stomach a couple of times, resting his chin in the crook of my neck. After a long while, he murmured, “Life is truly miraculous. It’s growing little by little, and in a few months, it will come out and grow up just like us.”
“Growing up like us will take more than thirty years; it won’t be that quick,” I replied.
He leaned against me and chuckled softly, his voice much clearer than before. “Qiu Yuhan, do you know why I’m mad at you? Sometimes you really ruin the mood. On such a beautiful night, wouldn’t it be nice to whisper sweet nothings? But you just have to say everything outright, leaving no room for imagination.”
Wait, what did he just say?
Whispering sweet nothings? Imagination?
When did these words appear in the dictionary of Xiao Minxing, the tyrant? He usually didn’t waste a single word; in the past, when I called him, he would get annoyed and scold me before ending the call. Could it be that he really changed after the divorce and suddenly became a warm-hearted man?
I couldn’t believe this discovery myself. I turned to confirm if what I heard was true.
But as soon as I turned around, I found something even more embarrassing. Facing each other, all the parts of my body that had swollen due to pregnancy pressed against him, and his hands hadn’t loosened their grip; they were still tightly holding me.
We could smell each other’s breath; there was no need for words anymore. Xiao Minxing had already lowered his lips from my forehead to the corner of my mouth.
My body felt hot, and my heart was racing, but I desperately suppressed my response, fearing it would spiral out of control.
Yet he provocatively whispered in my ear, “I’ve consulted about this; it’s safe now. You can relax a bit, and I’ll be gentle.”
“No… um…”
My protest was swallowed by him. However, he really was very gentle; even kissing me felt like he was kissing a bubble, afraid it would burst with a touch.
I had completely surrendered to him; my body felt as soft as water, unable to lift itself up and responding naturally to his movements.
Perhaps the emotional turmoil inside me was too overwhelming because suddenly there was a slight contraction in my abdomen. Although it was very mild, it startled me awake.
I pushed Xiao Minxing away from me with force and retreated toward the edge of the bed, covering my stomach with my hand as I looked at him.
His gaze was still somewhat dazed, but upon meeting my eyes, he quickly calmed down and lowered his gaze to gently ask me, “What’s wrong?”
I didn't dare to move and watched him carefully say, "He just moved."
"Ah?" Xiao Minxing was taken aback for a moment, his expression inexplicably a bit cute. The next moment, he had already reached out his hand and placed it on my belly.
His warm palm lingered there for a long time, gradually warming up the once cold spot.
He lifted his gaze to look at me gently and whispered, "Is it the baby moving? He must have sensed something."
"Sensed what?" I asked in confusion. When I saw the look of interest on Xiao Minxing's face, I realized what he meant and immediately felt shy.
I lowered my eyelids and said, "No more teasing, let's sleep."
He nodded at me, then lifted a corner of the blanket and said, "You sleep first; I'm going to take a shower."
"Weren't you just showering?"
I realized that whenever I was with him, my intelligence would unconsciously drop. As soon as I asked that question, I regretted it. However, Xiao Minxing had already turned around, and when he faced me again, the bulge in that area was particularly obvious, stretching his pants out significantly.
He even deliberately walked back, took my hand that was outside the blanket, and said, "That's true; maybe I shouldn't shower after all. Why don't you help me out instead?"
"Ah?" I hurriedly looked up but only saw his amused expression.
