Yan Jien and Tong Liya returned to the community with bread and milk tea. Yan Jien measured the data for the bread and milk tea before starting his daily training routine. Tong Liya had not fully adapted to her identity as a Mutant Human and was too afraid to participate in the training, so she curled up on the couch with the bread and milk tea, watching TV.
Yan Jien's training was the same as usual: meditation and conscious drawing. He felt that his consciousness strength had improved, but it seemed he had hit a bottleneck in increasing his power. Perhaps this was the limit of his genes.
Yan Jien practiced until after one in the morning before preparing to rest.
“Wuwuwu…”
He heard sobbing coming from the living room. When he walked in, he saw Tong Liya curled up on the sofa, quietly crying.
“Liya, what’s wrong?” Yan Jien asked, puzzled.
“Brother Yan Jien, I miss my mom…” Tong Liya choked out.
Yan Jien fell silent. Tong Liya's mutation was something her mother had sacrificed her life for, which made it hard for Tong Liya to accept.
“Liya, don’t cry,” Yan Jien said as he sat down beside her to comfort her. “Although your mom is gone, you still have me.”
“Brother Yan Jien, will you leave me?” Tong Liya looked at him with tearful eyes.
“No,” Yan Jien shook his head seriously. “I promised your mom that I would take good care of you.”
“Brother Yan Jien, thank you,” Tong Liya said, touched.
“Silly girl,” Yan Jien ruffled her hair and smiled. “Go to sleep now.”
“Okay.” Tong Liya nodded and got up to head towards her bedroom.
Yan Jien watched her figure disappear and sighed quietly. He noticed that the wound on his neck that Tong Liya had bitten had completely healed. Moreover, he felt that Tong Liya's condition was much better than during the day.
Perhaps, as time passed, Tong Liya would gradually let go of her sadness.
The next morning, Yan Jien and Tong Liya both woke up early. After some testing, Yan Jien found that Tong Liya's self-healing speed had not been affected. He speculated that her slower healing last night might have been due to her unstable emotions.
After breakfast, Yan Jien took Tong Liya to the gym on the first floor of their community to test her strength. After a night of rest, Tong Liya's strength had returned to peak levels and was even slightly stronger than before. Yan Jien estimated that her current strength was equivalent to that of a beginner mutant.
After finishing the tests, they left the gym.
“Brother Yan Jien, I need to go to the flower shop,” Tong Liya suddenly said.
"What are you going to the flower shop for?" Yan Jien asked, puzzled.
"My good sister Ma Yun is looking for me; she's waiting for me there," Tong Liya explained.
"Oh," Yan Jien nodded and said, "Then go ahead and come back early."
"Mm-hmm," Tong Liya nodded and ran ahead.
Watching Tong Liya's figure disappear into the distance, Yan Jien turned and walked home.
...
In the attic, Yan Jien closed the doors and windows and released the goat rabbit.
The goat rabbit was larger than a Husky, with tender and delicious meat.
Yan Jien couldn't help but salivate.
"Crunch, crunch..."
Yan Jien bit down on the goat rabbit's neck and began to chew.
The goat rabbit struggled desperately, but it was futile.
"Pop!"
Yan Jien tore off a leg of the rabbit and devoured it hungrily.
"Smack, smack..."
Yan Jien's chewing muscles worked furiously as the bones and flesh were ground into a paste, sliding down his throat into his stomach.
In no time at all, an entire goat rabbit was consumed by Yan Jien.
He let out a satisfied burp.
He estimated that he could eat at least fifty pounds of meat in one sitting now.
After satisfying his hunger, Yan Jien cleaned up the remnants of the goat rabbit and then began testing his self-healing speed.
The results surprised him.
The wound on his left leg healed in just 12 seconds!
"How could it be so fast? Is it because I was drained by Liya yesterday?" Yan Jien frowned in thought.
After pondering for a long time, he couldn't come up with a reason.
He shook his head, dismissed the distractions, and began to meditate.
...
In the evening, Yan Jien opened his eyes.
He sensed that Bread and Milk Tea were waiting for him at the foot of the mountain.
He went downstairs and played with Bread and Milk Tea for a while before heading home.
As soon as he entered the house, he saw Tong Liya sitting on the living room sofa.
"Liya, you're back?" Yan Jien greeted her with a smile.
"Mm," Tong Liya nodded, looking downcast.
"What's wrong?" Yan Jien asked, puzzled.
"Brother Yan Jien, Ma Yun and her boyfriend are going to Jubao Peak, and I want to go too..." Tong Liya hesitated.
"Then just go," Yan Jien smiled and said, "Didn't you used to go often?"
"But..." Tong Liya hesitated.
"But what?" Yan Jien asked, confused.
"But I don't want to go alone," Tong Liya said softly, lowering her head.
"That's simple," Yan Jien smiled. "We can go together tomorrow."
"Really?" Tong Liya exclaimed in surprise.
"Of course it's true," Yan Jien nodded and said, "It's been a long time since our family went out to have fun."
"That's great!" Tong Liya said excitedly.
"Alright," Yan Jien smiled and said, "You should go take a shower now."
"Mhm," Tong Liya nodded and walked toward the bathroom.
After taking a shower, Tong Liya came out wearing her pajamas.
Yan Jien stared at Tong Liya, his eyes wide open.
Tong Liya already had a great figure, and in her pajamas, she looked even more alluring.
"Brother Yan Jien, what's wrong?" Tong Liya asked in confusion.
"Ahem." Yan Jien coughed awkwardly a couple of times to cover up. "It's nothing."
"Oh." Tong Liya glanced at Yan Jien suspiciously before returning to her room.
Yan Jien let out a sigh of relief.
He realized that his self-control was getting worse when facing beautiful women.
"Could it be because I've absorbed too many female hormones?" Yan Jien mused while stroking his chin.
After thinking for a while, he decided not to dwell on it any longer.
He took off his clothes and walked into the bathroom.
After taking a shower, Yan Jien lay on the bed and closed his eyes to rest.
In a daze, he fell asleep.
