After speaking, Qin Guang shook his head and walked away. I thought he must be going to find that special someone again. The scent of perfume lingering on my nose, which I had picked up from him, reminded me of the earlier scene. Feeling a wave of nausea due to sadness and fear, I hurriedly got out of bed and grabbed a spittoon to start vomiting.
After a while, I wiped away my tears and looked up at the increasingly dim sky outside. I got up to close the courtyard door. Just as I reached the door, my vision blurred, and my body suddenly lost its support, collapsing softly.
I thought I would fall to the ground, but I didn’t. I fell into a familiar embrace.
I lifted my head and looked at the person holding me, who wore a silly smile on his face. "Wang An..."
Wang An looked at me with gentle eyes. He turned his head to look at Qin Guang and said calmly, "I have been waiting for her."
Qin Guang's face turned pale; he glared at Wang An and coldly asked, "What do you mean?"
Wang An ignored him. He lowered his head, looked at me, and softly said, "Ni Xin, I like you."
My mind suddenly cleared up significantly as I stared at him in shock. Wang An simply smiled back at me, his gaze warm and resolute.
"I said, I like you," he repeated.
My breathing became rapid, and my heart raced faster. Wang An... he said he liked me? My heart was filled with shock and joy, but soon, another thought crossed my mind.
Qin Guang...
I turned my head to look at Qin Guang, whose face had turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.
I stared at him and suddenly burst into laughter.
"Qin Guang, I want to break off our engagement!" I said loudly.
When I woke up, I found myself in an unfamiliar room.
I rubbed my aching head and struggled to sit up.
"You're awake?" A warm voice came from beside me.
I looked up and saw Wang An standing at the door holding a bowl of porridge.
"Wang... Wang An?" I said, somewhat surprised.
Wang An nodded, placed the porridge aside, walked over to me, and said softly, "You got drunk yesterday, and I was worried about you, so I brought you here."
I glanced around and asked in confusion, "Where is this?"
Wang An's expression suddenly became a bit strange.
"You don't know?"
I shook my head and suddenly realized, pretending not to recognize him, "Who are you?"
Wang An looked at me without saying a word.
I continued to play dumb, "How do you know my name?"
Wang An's expression turned somewhat helpless.
"My name is Wang An," he finally replied.
I kept up the act, "Who is Wang An?"
Wang An's expression immediately became serious.
"Ni Xin, you already have a fiancé," he said quietly.
I looked at him and suddenly laughed.
"But we have already broken off the engagement."
Wang An fell silent, looking at me with a complex expression.
Seeing his demeanor, I couldn't help but reach out and poke his arm with my finger.
"Little Closed Gourd," I said with a grin.
Wang An suddenly grabbed my hand, and the distance between us shrank significantly.
I looked at his face, now so close, and my heart skipped a beat.
Wang An stared at me, his gaze ambiguous.
"Ni Xin, you..." His voice suddenly became hoarse.
I looked at him, finding it hard to breathe.
Wang An leaned closer to me, his nose almost touching mine.
I immediately held my breath, my heart racing as if it were about to leap out of my chest.
"I'm older than you," he suddenly said.
I was taken aback for a moment, not quite processing it.
