Finally, I let my hands drop weakly and said, "Driver, let's go." 0
The driver sighed and started the car. I watched the hotel entrance gradually fade into the distance, filled with unease. 0
When I got home, it was so quiet that I could hear a pin drop. I sat alone on the sofa and gave a self-deprecating smile. 0
At that moment, the sudden ping of a text message broke the silence. 0
I picked up my phone and froze. 0
The message contained only a photo—inside a hotel room, under soft lighting, a man and a woman were on the bed; the man was bare-chested, and beneath him lay the equally naked woman. 0
A chill ran down my spine from my head to my toes. 0
Because that man was my husband, and that woman was "Xiao Mianhua." 0
I didn't know whether to cry or laugh. 0
Outside, fireworks burst into bloom, and firecrackers went off; this night, which should have been one of reunion and joy, felt like a cruel irony to me. 0
I turned off my phone and walked to the window. The world outside remained lively; people continued to celebrate as if nothing had happened. But I knew my world had changed. 0
I returned to the sofa, picked up the remote control, and turned on the television in an attempt to distract myself. 0
However, no matter how hard I tried, my heart could not find peace. The sounds from the TV became increasingly muffled while my thoughts grew clearer. 0
I picked up my phone and dialed that familiar number. 0
After a few rings, it connected. 0
"Hello." 0
A woman's voice came through from the other end of the line. 0
I remained silent. 0
"I know who you are; we are in Room 2602 at IKEA Hotel." 0
Then the call was abruptly ended. 0
My hand holding the phone dropped limply as if all my strength had been drained away. I sat there in a daze for the entire night. 0
My husband returned home by noon the next day. 0
Seeing me quietly sitting on the sofa with my phone's screen lit up. 0

He stepped forward and gently took my phone away. Just as he was about to sit down and hold me, he froze at the sight of the photo on the screen. 0

His eyes were filled with fear and panic. "Where... where did you get this photo?" 0

I remained silent, looking up at him, at the man who once made my heart flutter but now felt so unfamiliar. 0

"Wife, let me explain. We were just playing a game!" 0

He explained in a flustered manner. 0

"Playing a game? Then who is Mianmian that you called out when you were drunk? And whose long chestnut hair is that? The photo was sent to me, and you're still not telling the truth! How long do you plan to keep lying to me?" 0

I questioned him frantically, tears streaming down my face as I trembled with anger. 0

My husband suddenly knelt before me, speaking urgently: "Wife, I really was just playing a game. This woman is the daughter of an investor for a recent project I'm working on. We were all together last night, and I lost a game of Truth or Dare, which is how this happened!" 0

I listened quietly, my anger and confusion not fully dissipating. 0

"Even if it was just a game, why would you play such a game? Did you ever think about how I would feel?" 0

My voice trembled as I tried to control my emotions. 0

He was silent for a moment before letting out a deep sigh: "I know I was wrong; I shouldn't have participated in such a game. I should have considered your feelings. I'm sorry; I truly realize my mistake." 0

I looked at him, my internal struggle not lessened by his apology. I knew that the hurt this situation caused me couldn't be mended by just saying sorry. 0

"I need time to calm down," I said. 0

I thought this storm had finally settled, but fate seemed to enjoy playing tricks. 0
