After discovering that the scent of the unknown creature mixed with Li Yanqiu's scent, Yan Jien followed Li Yanqiu from a distance, careful not to get too close to avoid being detected.
It wasn't until Li Yanqiu ventured deep into the heart of the forest that he stepped onto the path leading into the woods. As he crossed between two banyan trees at the entrance, he caught a strong odor— it was the smell of urine and feces from that unknown creature.
"Right ahead!"
Yan Jien activated his night vision ability, searching through the darkness like an owl.
Soon, he spotted a hairless creature resembling a rat but with bat-like wings, its size comparable to Clark. At that moment, the creature was attacking Li Yanqiu.
"Beast, stop!"
In a moment of urgency, Yan Jien shouted loudly.
"Huh?"
Hearing the noise, the creature turned to face Yan Jien.
"Hiss!"
It glared at him with its green eyes, issuing a warning hiss.
"This... is that mutated creature?"
Yan Jien was shocked as he looked at the monster before him. When he had encountered it in the park before, it had been quite small, about the size of an ordinary rat, but now, just over a month later, it had grown so large.
The appearance of Yan Jien made the mutated rat king feel threatened; it took a few steps back and then flew into the air.
"Trying to run?" Yan Jien raised an eyebrow.
He intended to chase after it but stopped when he saw Li Yanqiu unconscious on the ground; after all, saving her was more important.
Whoosh!
Seeing that Yan Jien did not pursue, the mutated rat king quickly returned to its lair.
"Huh?"
Yan Jien frowned as he sensed the presence of the mutated rat king vanish.
"What’s going on? Did it discover me?" Yan Jien wondered.
He focused his mind and crouched down to check on Li Yanqiu's condition.
"Still has a heartbeat; she should just be unconscious," Yan Jien sighed in relief.
Clatter! Clatter!
At that moment, Han Li entered the forest, his footsteps echoing loudly in the quiet night.
"This guy, does he want to get that girl killed?" Yan Jien frowned.
Worried that Han Li might disturb the mutated rat king, he took out his phone and turned on the flashlight, flashing it at himself.
"Huh?"
Seeing this from outside the forest, Han Li rushed over quickly.
"What... is this?"
Seeing Li Yanqiu unconscious on the ground startled Han Li.
"Captain!"
He shouted loudly and rushed forward.
"Let's take her to the hospital first," Yan Jien reminded.
"Okay," Han Li nodded.
He took out his phone, dialed the emergency number, and then carried Li Yanqiu away from the dense forest.
"Finally gone," Yan Jien sighed in relief.
He calmed himself and continued to track the scent of the mutated creature, soon arriving near the Old Villa.
"Could that monster be hiding here?" Yan Jien wondered.
He climbed over the fence and entered the yard.
The area around the Old Villa was a restricted zone of the park, rarely visited by anyone, so the weeds in the yard had grown very thick, almost reaching his knees.
"What a strong smell; that thing should be inside," Yan Jien thought to himself.
Following the scent, he cautiously made his way toward the Old Villa.
At that moment, in an old banyan tree at the back of the yard, the mutated rat king was watching Yan Jien with wary eyes.
Earlier, it had sensed Yan Jien following it and immediately left its nest to hide here, but it never expected to be discovered.
Rustle!
Yan Jien stepped on the weeds as he crossed the yard and reached the backyard.
"This is... that monster's nest?" Yan Jien's eyes widened.
In front of him was a pit in the ground, surrounded by a large pile of rat fur and a heap of droppings.
Chirp!
At that moment, a noisy sound came from the pit ahead.
"Huh? Is there movement down there?" Yan Jien was startled.
Suddenly, the mutated rat king flew out from below the pit and blocked Yan Jien's path.
"Hmph, seeking death!" Yan Jien snorted coldly.
He didn't expect this creature to dare confront him, which made him extremely angry.
Roar!
Yan Jien roared at the mutated rat king, showing a fierce expression.
Chirp!
The mutated rat king refused to back down; it screeched as if warning Yan Jien.
Swish!
It flapped its wings like a flash of lightning and lunged at Yan Jien.
"Come on!" Yan Jien exclaimed excitedly.
He clenched his fists and swung at the mutated rat king.
Bang!
The collision between man and rat erupted with a muffled sound.
"Such a hard bone!" Yan Jien exclaimed in surprise. He felt a sharp pain in his fist, as if he had struck a steel plate.
"Roar!" The Mutated Rat King was also enraged. It opened its large mouth and lunged at Yan Jien's neck.
"Get away!" Yan Jien shouted angrily. He swung his fist, aiming for the Mutated Rat King's head.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The man and the rat engaged in a fierce battle, neither side willing to back down.
"This beast has incredible strength!" Yan Jien was astonished. He felt a throbbing pain in his fist, and his arm was numb, as if his bones might break.
"Roar!" The Mutated Rat King was furious as well; it hadn't expected this human to be so formidable, which shocked it greatly.
"Boom!" Another intense collision occurred, causing Yan Jien to stagger back several steps while the Mutated Rat King was sent flying, crashing to the ground.
"Huff! Huff!" Yan Jien gasped for breath, feeling as if all the blood in his body was boiling, filled with chaotic energy.
"Crack!" His skin began to split, his hair grew wildly, and his eyes turned a deep crimson.
"What is happening..." Seeing the changes in his body, Yan Jien was utterly shocked.
"Roar!" On the other side, the Mutated Rat King also underwent a transformation; its body sprouted fur and grew larger, resembling a small calf.
"What’s going on? Why is my body changing like this?" Yan Jien asked in terror.
