Back at Silver Star Securities, Liu Qi informed me that since it was Feng Hongyang who intervened previously, I needed to complete the remaining internship period at Zhuo Ling Capital.
Early Wednesday morning, I reported to Zhuo Ling Capital. The HR manager, as before, assigned me a workstation right next to Li Xin's desk.
"Jiang Yuan, you'll sit here from now on," she said.
I nodded, "Okay."
Not long after I sat down, Feng Hongyang walked in. Li Xin immediately approached him and followed him into the office.
Soon, Feng Hongyang's voice echoed from his office: "Notify everyone that there will be a meeting in ten minutes."
Upon hearing this, Li Xin quickly went to inform the others.
Ten minutes later, everyone gradually entered the meeting room. As an intern, I was not qualified to attend.
The meeting lasted about two hours, and afterward, everyone filed out one by one. Feng Hongyang was the last to leave; he held a notebook and flipped through it as he walked back to his office.
As he passed by me, he paused for a moment and turned to look at me. I noticed him and met his gaze.
Our eyes locked; he squinted slightly but said nothing before entering his office. Once he closed the door, I finally looked away.
Li Xin walked over and tapped my desk: "Jiang Yuan, check the flights to Haicheng for this Friday and let me know."
I nodded, "Sure."
After checking the flight information, I sent it to Li Xin. She quickly replied: "Let's book the flight for Friday evening."
I booked the ticket and informed her: "It's all set."
Li Xin did not respond further.
On Friday afternoon, I took a flight to Haicheng. Li Xin had already arranged everything in advance, so as soon as I got off the plane, I went directly to the signing ceremony venue. Tomorrow morning, Zhuo Ling Capital will hold a signing ceremony and press conference with a local medical company. By the time I arrived at the venue, the setup and distribution of materials had already been completed by the organizers. This meant that the tasks arranged by Li Xin did not require my involvement at all. I was happy to relax and sat aside playing on my phone.
The signing ceremony was scheduled for 9:30 AM. On Zhuo Ling's side, Feng Hongyang attended in person. I watched as Feng Hongyang sat in the center on stage, with the head of the medical company beside him. The signing ceremony was quite simple; both representatives signed the agreement, shook hands, and took photos.
To my surprise, it was not Feng Hongyang who spoke on behalf of Zhuo Ling, but a man named Jin Guodong. After the ceremony concluded, Feng Hongyang gave a few short interviews to some media outlets. I watched from a distance as the reporters asked very official questions, and Feng Hongyang answered without missing a beat.
Just as the interview was about to wrap up, Li Xin suddenly called out to me: "Jiang Yuan, come here." I walked over and asked, "Sister Xin, what's up?" Li Xin leaned closer to my ear and whispered, "Help Mr. Feng adjust his tie."
I paused for a moment and turned to look at Feng Hongyang. He looked at me with a slight frown and said, "What are you standing there for?" Realizing what I needed to do, I walked over to him and reached out to touch his tie. Feng Hongyang lowered his head to make it easier for me.
I stood on my tiptoes to loosen the tie and re-tie it properly. However, due to my lack of experience, I struggled several times without getting it right. Feng Hongyang grew somewhat impatient and asked, "Can you even do this?" My hand trembled, making the knot look even worse.
Feng Hongyang stared at me, directly took off his tie, and threw it to me: "Forget it, you can practice slowly at home."
I held the tie, feeling a bit dazed.
The reporters looked at us with surprised expressions.
Feng Hongyang glanced at them, his expression calm: "Continue."
Only then did the reporters retract their gazes and continue asking questions.
The interview soon ended, and the reporters left.
I walked up to Li Xin and said, "Sister Xin, I've completed my task. Can I leave now?"
Li Xin looked at me with a half-smile: "Leave? The banquet hasn't started yet."
I frowned: "There's still a banquet?"
"Of course," Li Xin replied with a smile. "You're Mr. Feng's assistant; you have to stay with him until the end tonight."
I pursed my lips, thought for a moment, and said, "Sister Xin, can I not go?"
"Why not?" Li Xin asked me.
I paused for a moment before saying, "I don't really like those kinds of occasions."
Upon hearing this, Li Xin patted my shoulder: "It's okay; you can just sit next to Mr. Feng and don't need to do anything."
I blinked: "Really?"
"Of course it's true," Li Xin smiled. "Don't worry; with Mr. Feng around, no one will dare to make things difficult for you."
I thought about it and nodded: "Alright then."
The banquet was held at six-thirty.
I followed Feng Hongyang to the banquet hall and sat next to him.
Feng Hongyang chatted with others while introducing me: "This is my assistant, Jiang Yuan."
"Miss Jiang is so young." "Miss Jiang is really beautiful."...
I smiled and nodded: "Thank you."
After chatting for a while, everyone began to eat.
Feng Hongyang continued talking to the person next to him and didn't pay attention to me.
I was happy to enjoy my meal in peace.
After dinner, it was already eight-thirty. The banquet finally ended, and I followed Feng Hongyang out of the banquet hall and got into the car. Li Xin was sitting in the front passenger seat, while Feng Hongyang and I sat in the back.
As the car drove away, I gazed out at the passing scenery, my thoughts drifting far away. After a while, Feng Hongyang's voice broke the silence: "Did you have any special places you wanted to visit this time?"
I snapped back to reality and shook my head. "No."
Feng Hongyang turned to look at me. "No?"
I nodded. "Mm."
Feng Hongyang raised an eyebrow. "I remember you are from Yuncheng University; how did you end up interning in Beicheng?"
"I wanted a change of environment," I casually offered as an excuse.
Feng Hongyang narrowed his eyes. "Is that so?"
I nodded again. "Mm."
Feng Hongyang studied me with sharp eyes. "Not to avoid me?"
I met his gaze, my expression calm. "Mr. Feng, you are overthinking."
Feng Hongyang stared at me for a moment before chuckling lightly. "It better be that way."
I lowered my gaze and remained silent. Feng Hongyang also fell quiet. The car was filled with a stillness.
After a while, the car stopped in front of the hotel. Feng Hongyang and I got out and walked into the hotel.
When we reached the door of my room, I took out the key card to unlock it. Feng Hongyang was staying right across from me.
I opened the door and turned to him. "Mr. Feng, good night."
Feng Hongyang looked at me and smiled slightly. "Good night."
