The next morning, I woke up with two panda eyes and stepped out of my room. My brother saw me and frowned, "Did you not sleep well last night?"
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Were you partying too hard?"
"No, it's just..." I hesitated.
"What is it?"
"Bro, I think I ran into Liang Lebang again."
"What?" My brother frowned, "Are you two back together?"
"No, no," I shook my head. "I saw him at the party yesterday. He was with a girl, and she was really pretty."
"Oh," my brother replied nonchalantly. "Then don't contact him again. Let me introduce you to a boyfriend."
"Huh?"
"Do you remember that Chen Jing I told you about last time? He has a good impression of you and wants to date you."
On the weekend, I arranged to meet Chen Jing at a café.
I held my phone, staring blankly at the screen.
On the screen was a photo of Liang Lebang. In the picture, he wore a black shirt with the collar slightly open, revealing his attractive collarbone.
His skin was very fair, and his features were delicate, like a beautiful boy who had stepped out of a comic book.
Looking at this photo, I couldn't help but recall the scene from last night when he flirted with me.
I couldn't resist smiling, my heart racing.
"Wan Hui?" Chen Jing waved her hand in front of me. "What's wrong with you?"
"Ah?" I came back to my senses, put away my phone, and smiled. "It's nothing."
"Do you have something on your mind?" Chen Jing looked at me with concern.
I sighed and looked at Chen Jing. "Chen Jing, I won't hide it from you anymore. I actually have someone I like."
"Really?" Chen Jing was taken aback for a moment before breaking into a smile. "That's fine; I can compete fairly."
"No need." I shook my head. "We can't be together."
"Why not?"
"He's a pole dancer."
"......" Chen Jing was silent for a few seconds. "This... profession is quite special."
"Yeah." I nodded. "Although his profession has no future, I love him."
"Wan Hui, don't be foolish." Chen Jing frowned. "Is he really worth it?"
"There’s no such thing as worth or not worth." I looked at Chen Jing seriously. "I just know that I can't live without him."
"Have you broken up with him?"
"I guess so."
"Since you've already broken up, why not try to accept me?" Chen Jing asked anxiously.
I smiled slightly. "Chen Jing, I don't want to lie to you, and I definitely don't want to hurt you, so I can't agree to you."
"Why not?"
"Because..." I hesitated, unsure of how to start.
"Because you still like him, right?" Chen Jing said with a bitter smile. "Wan Hui, you're only going to make yourself suffer like this."
"I know." I lowered my head and said softly, "But I just can't help but think about him."
"Sigh." Chen Jing let out a breath. "Alright, since you've made up your mind, I won't push you anymore."
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I'll wait for you." Chen Jing smiled at me and got up to leave.
I watched his back, feeling a bit sour inside.
Chen Jing is a good man, but unfortunately, I am no longer worthy of him.
I returned to the apartment, and just as I opened the door, a pair of hands suddenly reached out and pulled me inside.
I gasped and lifted my foot to stomp down hard.
"Hiss..." A familiar gasp sounded in my ear.
I opened my eyes wide in surprise, looking at the person in front of me: "Liang Lebang? What are you doing here?"
"You actually dared to go on a date behind my back?" Liang Lebang pulled me into his arms, gritting his teeth as he asked.
"I..." I struggled for a moment but found that he was holding me too tightly to break free.
I decided to give up struggling and looked up at him: "You said it yourself, I'm dating you behind my brother's back, so of course my brother would introduce me to boyfriends."
"How dare you talk back?" Liang Lebang narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them.
I swallowed hard and muttered softly, "That's exactly how it is."
"Wan Hui, you really are something!" Liang Lebang took a deep breath. "Do you know where this place is?"
"My neighborhood," I replied, looking at him in confusion.
"I also have an apartment here."
"You..." I widened my eyes, staring at him in disbelief.
He reached out and touched my face, smiling, "I came over this morning and have been waiting for you here."
"You..." I blushed and looked down. "Don't you have a new girlfriend? Why are you still looking for me?"
"Who told you I have a new girlfriend?" He frowned.
"My brother said so."
"Your brother is lying to you."
"How is that possible?" I didn't believe him.
"You saw me with another woman, right?"
"Yeah."
"What you saw was my business partner and a blind date."
"Aren't you with the short-haired beauty?"
"That's my business partner," Liang Lebang explained. "I only met my blind date once, and I haven't seen her since."
"..." I was stunned.
So, did I misunderstand him?
"Wan Hui, you're the only woman for me," Liang Lebang said as he held me close, gently stroking my hair. "And from now on, you'll be the only woman for me."
I stared at him blankly, momentarily at a loss for words.
"Why aren't you speaking?" He lifted my chin to make me look into his eyes.
His pupils were very dark, like a deep pool of water, almost drowning me in their depths.
I slowly spoke up, "But my brother said you're a liar."
"Would you rather believe your brother than me?" He narrowed his eyes, seeming a bit angry.
