The next day, Fang Hui was putting on makeup in front of the mirror. She looked at herself and felt a sense of calm inside. Remembering the last time she saw Li Chaowen kissing her roommate, she had been heartbroken, but this time, she found that her feelings were not as intense. In fact, a hint of relief surged within her. Could this be considered a sign of letting go?
Just then, she heard the sound of keys unlocking the door. Fang Hui looked up to see her roommate walking in. Her face was somewhat pale, and she looked quite worn out.
Fang Hui set down her eyebrow pencil and turned to her, "You're back?"
"Yeah," her roommate nodded, walking up to her but hesitating to speak. "Jingjing, A Yu... he went back to the company."
Fang Hui raised an eyebrow, "And then?"
Her roommate took a deep breath and said, "We... happened."
Fang Hui fell silent for a moment and quietly asked, "So? What do you want to say?"
Her roommate bit her lip, "You... won't blame me, will you?"
"Blame you?" Fang Hui smirked, "Blame you for what?"
Her roommate fell silent.
Fang Hui stood up and walked over to her, speaking clearly, "Don't worry, I won't blame you."
"Really?" Her roommate's eyes lit up.
"Of course," Fang Hui smiled. "I don't like him anyway."
Her roommate was taken aback.
Fang Hui chuckled and started to walk outside. "But there might be something between Chen Hao and me."
"What?" Her roommate's eyes widened in shock. "You... you and Chen Hao..."
"Yeah," Fang Hui nodded. "I should end up with him."
Her roommate's face turned ashen. "You... didn't you say..."
"I said I don't like Li Chaowen," Fang Hui smirked. "But I never said I don't like Chen Hao."
Her roommate's expression became extremely grim.
Fang Hui no longer paid attention to her and walked out.
As she reached the door, her roommate's voice came from behind: "Jingjing, I'm sorry."
Fang Hui said nothing and opened the door to step outside.
Downstairs, Chen Hao was already waiting for her.
He had bought two breakfasts and handed her one: "I didn't know what you liked, so I got a bit of everything."
Fang Hui glanced at it and casually picked up a bowl of congee: "Thank you."
Chen Hao was taken aback: "You drink congee?"
"Yeah," Fang Hui nodded.
Chen Hao blinked: "I thought you would eat spicy strips."
"……" Fang Hui was speechless, "Who told you I like spicy strips?"
"Li Chaowen," Chen Hao replied, "He said you have a strong taste and like spicy food."
Fang Hui tugged at the corner of her lips.
He really knew her well, aware of all her preferences.
Unfortunately, he was unwilling to step into her life.
"Let's go," Chen Hao said with a smile, "I’ll take you somewhere."
"Where to?"
"You'll find out when we get there."
……
Chen Hao took her to the aquarium.
Looking at the colorful tropical fish in the tanks, Fang Hui felt her mood lighten.
She watched the little fish, unable to help but smile.
Chen Hao stood beside her and quietly snapped a photo.
Fang Hui noticed but ignored him, letting him take the picture.
After taking the photo, Chen Hao looked at Fang Hui in the lens, his eyes widening.
He had always known she was beautiful, but he had never realized just how stunning she was.
It was as if she were a princess emerging from the sea.
Fang Hui turned her head and saw him staring at her, her pretty face involuntarily flushing. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Because you're beautiful," Chen Hao praised without holding back.
Fang Hui's face turned even redder.
She averted her gaze and said softly, "What’s so good-looking about me?"
"How could you not be good-looking?" Chen Hao blinked. "You look just like a fairy. It's truly a blessing for me to be able to be friends with you."
Fang Hui couldn't help but laugh. "Stop flattering me."
"I'm not flattering you; I'm speaking the truth," Chen Hao said earnestly.
Fang Hui smiled but didn't respond.
The two continued walking forward.
On the way back, Chen Hao kept staring at her.
Fang Hui felt uncomfortable under his gaze. "Why do you keep looking at me?"
Chen Hao smiled. "You're really beautiful."
Fang Hui's face flushed, and she fell silent.
...
On the way back, Chen Hao and she took the bus together.
The bus was crowded, and Chen Hao carefully protected her by keeping her close to his chest.
Fang Hui leaned against Chen Hao's chest, listening to the strong beat of his heart, unable to suppress a smile.
She looked up and quietly asked him, "Chen Hao, why do you like me?"
Chen Hao was taken aback and lowered his head to meet her gaze. "You don't know?"
Fang Hui shook her head. "I don't know."
"Really don’t know?"
"Yeah."
Chen Hao sighed. "Looks like I haven't made it obvious enough."
Fang Hui blinked. "What do you mean?"
"I've liked you for a long time," Chen Hao said with a smile. "Do you remember when our class organized a trip to the aquarium?"
"I remember," Fang Hui nodded. "What about it?"
"It was that time when I started to like you."
"......" Fang Hui was stunned.
Chen Hao smiled and asked, "Do you remember what you were wearing back then?"
Fang Hui thought for a moment, "A blue dress."
"Yeah." Chen Hao nodded, "You were wearing that dress, standing in front of the glass window, watching the fish inside. At that moment, I thought you looked like a princess who had just walked out of the sea, so beautiful."
Fang Hui was taken aback.
So, he liked her at that time?
But at that moment, all she could think about was Li Chaowen; even when she saw a blue fish, it reminded her of Li Chaowen's eyes.
She never expected that while she was thinking about someone else, there was someone quietly watching her.
Fang Hui felt warmth in her heart.
She looked at Chen Hao, and her eyes couldn't help but turn red.
Chen Hao was surprised: "Hey, why are you crying?"
"I'm fine." Fang Hui sniffed, "I'm happy."
"Happy?" Chen Hao was puzzled.
Fang Hui smiled and said, "I've finally gotten over Li Chaowen."
"......" Chen Hao fell silent, just quietly looking at her.
Fang Hui wiped her tears and said, "You know? All these years, I've been chasing after Li Chaowen. I always felt so small and insecure; I thought I didn't deserve him at all."
Chen Hao frowned: "Is he really that great?"
Fang Hui shook her head: "I don't even know if he's good or not; I just know that I like him, very much."
Chen Hao sighed: "And now?"
"Now..." Fang Hui smiled, "I think I can live well too."
"......" Chen Hao remained silent.
Fang Hui lifted her head to meet his gaze: "I want to give it a try."
