"I choose my first love."
The kidnapper forced Si Xiang to make a choice between two options, and without hesitation, he chose his first love.
This was within my expectations.
"Si Xiang, you have such a ruthless heart."
"Not like you, Young Master, putting on a show that's both real and fake."
Si Xiang tightly protected her first love, and the look in her eyes gradually turned impatient as she glanced at me.
"Disgusting, this kidnapping act is so pretentious."
Even with a knife pressed against my neck, the blade cutting into my skin, to Si Xiang, this was all just a play I directed myself.
"Si Xiang, look at my face."
The first love pointed at her swollen face with a pitiful expression.
"These people really lack manners; they actually slapped me. But thankfully, they went easy on me; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to see you."
Such poor acting skills, yet Si Xiang believed it wholeheartedly.
After all, in her eyes, first love was always innocent and pure.
"No wonder you're the female CEO; you have courage and know how to read the situation."
The Kidnapper Leader looked at me with satisfaction and waved his hand.
"This one belongs to us."
In front of Si Xiang, the Kidnapper Leader tore open my shirt.
Si Xiang's gaze paused for a moment before returning to indifference.
"Brilliant, but don't overdo it."
"You think I'll believe you just because of this?"
Indeed, how could Si Xiang believe me? In her heart, I was filthy beyond measure, unworthy even to carry her first love's shoes.
"Si Xiang, I was wrong."
I calmly watched Si Xiang as the Kidnapper Leader touched me up and down. I was wrong. Wrong for mistaking someone. I am Si Xiang's little follower, Si Xiang's devoted admirer. When Si Xiang called me at three in the morning to pick up her friend, I would go regardless of the weather. My friends laughed at me: "Gao Ming, you really are like a dog." I laughed along: "Yeah, just like one."
Si Xiang wouldn't let me into her study, yet I insisted on preparing a banquet for her even when I was sick. Even if it was a celebration banquet for her first love. I had seen that boy. He was sunny and lively, exactly the type that Si Xiang would like. And I was merely a tool for Si Xiang to provoke that boy.
I accidentally entered Si Xiang's study once. On the desk was a photograph. The photo showed a girl with striking features. The back had the girl's name written on it: Si Nian. I had never seen Si Nian nor had I ever heard Si Xiang mention her. But I was curious about Si Nian's story. I searched through all available information but found nothing. I only vaguely learned that Si Nian was Si Xiang's twin sister. At sixteen, Si Nian attempted to assault a boy but failed; after that, her name was erased from the Si Family. No one knows where Si Nian went.
Just as I was about to continue my search, I was kidnapped.
"I'm sorry."
She didn't expect me to apologize to her.
Si Xiang let out a cold laugh, a hint of disdain flashing in her eyes: "You can still make mistakes? Don't you always think you're right about everything?"
Si Xiang hated me, partly because I was placed by her parents to be by her side; she saw it as surveillance, as a humiliation.
The waves crashed against the cruise ship, splashing water that soaked me completely.
Saltwater seeped into my wounds, causing waves of pain.
The kidnapper pressed me to the ground, his knee digging into my lower back, rendering me immobile.
I struggled to muster my last breath: "My mistake was falling in love with you."
Si Xiang paused for a moment, then scoffed: "Clever, you really know how to act. But after performing for so long in front of me, aren't you tired?"
She hesitated before continuing, "Every time I see you, I feel disgusted."
Her words pierced my heart like a knife, but I could no longer feel the pain.
"Si Xiang, I..."
Before I could finish, the kidnapper received an order and then threw me overboard.
In the moment before I was cast into the sea, I seemed to see Si Xiang running towards me.
But none of that mattered anymore.
