Hua Zi's expression turned grim.
He turned to look at Jiang Shiyan and found his face was frighteningly dark.
Only then did he realize that his good intentions had led to a bad outcome.
Jiang Shiyan's attitude towards him said it all.
The private room was eerily quiet.
Everyone was looking at Jiang Shiyan, but no one dared to speak.
After a long while, Su Xiao spoke up, "Jiang Shiyan, I'm not saying this lightly, but you are being very unmanly about this."
"Xiao Yu is such a good girl. The way you treat her, you will regret it one day."
Jiang Shiyan glanced at her with a cold expression, "What have I done to her?"
"You know very well what happened back then," Su Xiao met his gaze fearlessly. "You know how hurtful your actions were."
"Even if I did something wrong, so what?" Jiang Shiyan sneered. "She has been with me for seven years; even if I raised a dog, it would be familiar. She can't possibly leave me."
"Is that so?" Su Xiao scoffed. "Unfortunately, Xiao Yu is not a dog; she is a girl, and she can't afford this."
"Keep it up, and you'll drive her away sooner or later."
Jiang Shiyan suddenly stood up and smashed the wine bottle beside him into pieces. "Su Xiao, try saying that one more time!"
"I'm speaking the truth," Su Xiao showed no fear and looked at him coldly. "Jiang Shiyan, what you're doing will eventually backfire on you."
"Xiao Yu has been with you for so many years; even if she hasn't contributed much, she has endured hardships. What right do you have to treat her this way?"
Jiang Shiyan's face turned ashen with anger, but he couldn't find the words to respond.
After all, what Su Xiao said was the truth.
He had no way to refute it.
Su Xiao finished speaking, ignored him, and directly stood up to leave.
Throughout it all, Hua Yichen sat deep in the corner, watching coldly without intervening or saying a word.
Seeing Su Xiao leave, he finally put down his glass and said lightly, "No need to worry about her."
"She can't leave."
Behind Su Xiao was the average Su Family and her bedridden father.
So Hua Yichen was not worried that she would leave.
The call was disconnected, and Lu Nancheng hugged me from behind.
His chin gently rubbed against my neck, but he didn't say anything.
I smiled and asked him what was wrong.
Lu Nancheng asked in a muffled voice, "Are you going back?"
I was taken aback for a moment, knowing he was referring to Yuencheng.
"I don't plan to go back for now, but I should eventually," I said, biting my lip. "After all, my home is there."
Lu Nancheng fell silent again.
I didn't turn around but could feel his unhappiness.
I sighed and said seriously, "Lu Nancheng, I don't know what you're thinking."
"But I want to tell you that I won't get back together with Jiang Shiyan."
"Absolutely not."
Lu Nancheng stared at me for a long time before finally letting out a soft sigh.
"Yuyu, I want to believe you."
"But..."
The rest of his words remained unspoken, yet I understood what he meant.
I turned around and looked directly into his eyes. "Lu Nancheng, I don't want to deceive you."
"I still have the shadow of Jiang Shiyan in my heart, but it's not reluctance or unwillingness."
"Some memories just can't be erased; at least for now, I haven't completely let go."
"But from the moment Jiang Shiyan became indifferent to our relationship, I was already prepared for a breakup."
"Lu Nancheng, I..."
Lu Nancheng pulled me into his arms tightly.
"Alright, don't say anymore."
His voice was low, tinged with a hint of hoarseness.
"I believe you."
With that, he leaned down and kissed me.
