"All this is caused by greed!" Returning to the Hall, Ren Pingsheng saw the lifeless bodies of Brute Force and sighed softly. If they hadn't entertained such greedy thoughts back then, the Demon Clan members wouldn't have been released, and they wouldn't have lost their lives for nothing.
He collected the Spatial Rings from the three of them but did not leave immediately. Instead, he turned his gaze toward another passage. His previous passage had taken him a quarter of an hour to reach its end, but it seemed to be the dwelling place of the Soul Devouring Beast and did not lead outside.
What about the remaining two passages? Brute Force probably hadn't explored them thoroughly; they must have returned shortly after entering.
"Let's take a look; perhaps there will be some gains." Now that this place was no longer dangerous, at least the most formidable Demon Clan expert had already left. Even if there were other dangers, Ren Pingsheng was not afraid.
With this decision made, he chose the middle passage. Upon entering, he found that it was no different from his previous one—still dark and black, with no indication of where it ended.
Without much concern, he moved quickly. After spending a good two hours, he finally reached the end of the passage, which opened into a Stone Chamber. It seemed that no one had been there for a long time, as it was piled high with treasures that sparkled in the darkness of the cave.
Ren Pingsheng approached to take a closer look and discovered that the treasures here far exceeded those in the two previous Stone Chambers they had encountered. Moreover, these were even more precious Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, some of which would be very beneficial for his current cultivation.
"What a pity! If they had been patient enough to explore, these treasures might have been theirs." He sighed as he looked at the treasures before him.
They had only cared about that corpse and abandoned the real treasures. Perhaps if they had been more patient and reached the end, these treasures would not have fallen into his hands.
With a wave of his hand, Ren Pingsheng collected all the treasures, leaving the Stone Chamber completely empty.
"It seems there is no way out here either. I'll check that last passage; if there's nothing there, I'll have to return the way I came. But I wonder if that Demon Clan expert is lying in ambush outside?" This was also his concern, which is why he wanted to see if there might be another passage.
When he returned to the Hall, another two hours had passed. Calculating their time inside, nearly a day had gone by; outside should be similar to when they entered.
Ren Pingsheng then turned his attention to the last passage and entered without hesitation. This passage seemed unusually long for some reason. The previous passages took only two hours to reach their ends, but here he had already walked for three hours without reaching an end. This made him suspicious and cautious.
"Hmm? What is that?" After an unknown amount of time, Ren Pingsheng suddenly noticed a glimmer of light ahead. His heart raced as he quickened his pace.
"This is..." When he reached around the bend, he discovered that it was actually a thatched cottage; the light was emanating from within. The glow appeared soft and warm but could be seen from quite a distance; otherwise, he wouldn't have noticed it from afar around such a large turn.
"Could there still be someone living here? That seems unlikely." Ren Pingsheng thought nervously. This was an Ancient Ruin; Ancient Times had ended nearly one hundred thousand years ago. If someone truly lived here, wouldn’t that mean they had lived for several hundred thousand years? Would they still be human?
"Not a human? Then what is it?" He immediately thought of the person he encountered from the Demon Clan before. Only a strange race like the Demon Clan could live for such a long time. Wasn't that person still alive until now? Could there be more from the Demon Clan here?
The more Ren Pingsheng thought about it, the more likely it seemed. He tightened his grip on the Windscar Sword, and his aura changed. Demonic Energy swirled around him, indicating he was ready for a battle.
He walked over slowly. Although it looked far away, it was only a distance of a little over two hundred meters, just a few breaths away.
The thatched cottage was quiet, with no sounds coming from inside. From the outside, only some light shone through. The cottage was small, barely enough for one person to live in.
The surroundings seemed to be a Stone Chamber, but there were no Divine Treasures here, only a thatched cottage. Further ahead was the end; in the dim light, he could faintly see that there was no path ahead.
"Little Ones of the Human Race? Why have you come here?" Suddenly, a gentle sigh came from within the thatched cottage. The voice seemed to be both present and absent, yet it pierced straight into his heart as if speaking directly to his soul.
Upon hearing this voice, even though Ren Pingsheng had prepared himself, he was still startled, his heart racing. Those who could still be alive here were likely ancient monsters who had lived for an unknown length of time. Now he had unexpectedly encountered one; he immediately began to consider how to respond.
"Strange, strange. Why do you have a familiar feeling about you, as if I met you a long time ago? Could you be one of those old fellows who survived the great war?" The Ancient Voice echoed again in his heart, filled with surprise and curiosity.
"Senior, forgive me. I unintentionally trespassed here and do not understand what you mean," Ren Pingsheng thought for a moment and respectfully bowed toward the thatched cottage.
"Oh, I see. It seems I may have misjudged. Since you have entered here, does it mean this Ruins has reappeared?" The Ancient Voice asked lightly.
"Yes, this Ancient Ruins reappeared two days ago, and many martial artists have entered here. I wonder if Senior is from the Demon Clan? Why are you here?"
"From the Demon Clan? You could say so! It seems you encountered that Little One who was suppressed outside," the Ancient Voice said with a hint of nostalgia.
"How many years has it been? Others have come in here before, but none could see me. Since you managed to come here and meet me, it seems we are fated. Today I will grant you a fortuitous encounter!"
Before Ren Pingsheng could react, he felt the Space before him tremble, and then an ancient-looking Jade Tablet appeared.
"I see you are of the human race; it's interesting that you can cultivate both True Qi and Demonic Energy together. This contains a miraculous technique of the Demon Clan, but very few can cultivate it. Now I give it to you; it depends on whether you have the opportunity to cultivate it."
"Demon Clan technique?" Upon hearing this, Ren Pingsheng was taken aback; he hadn't expected this fortuitous encounter to be this. His heart was filled with uncertainty.
"Indeed. In ancient times, this Continent was home to humans, demons, the Demon Clan, and beasts; each race had its strengths and weaknesses in their techniques. There were attempts to cultivate techniques from other races; some succeeded while others failed. Later on, after a great war, the four races separated. Since you can cultivate two techniques simultaneously, perhaps you can also cultivate the Demon Clan's technique. You can give it a try; if you succeed in cultivating it, it might be your fortuitous encounter. At that point, becoming a Divine-Level Expert would be effortless."
Ren Pingsheng listened quietly, unsure whether what the person said was true or false. After all, it was suspicious for a complete stranger to speak so much without any reason.
"Hehe, you don't need to be suspicious. I'm just a bit excited by the hunt. The techniques of the Demon Clan have many mysterious aspects. Well, I've given you the items; whether you cultivate them is entirely up to you." The person in the Thatched Cottage seemed to know what Ren Pingsheng was thinking.
"Thank you, Senior. I actually came here just to find a way out. I wonder if you could tell me if there is a passage to the center of the Ruins."
"The center of the Ruins? If you want to go, I can send you there. Although you might not gain anything from it, go ahead!" The person in the Thatched Cottage seemed to smile lightly upon hearing this. Then Ren Pingsheng felt a sudden dizziness, and by the time he regained his senses, he was no longer in that dark cave.
"What a familiar feeling? Who could that be?" The passage gradually darkened as the light from the Thatched Cottage began to fade.
"Hehe, no matter who it is, encountering such a promising talent who cultivates techniques from both clans may come in handy in the future. Time is short; I hope you can grow quickly." The Ancient Voice's tone also gradually weakened until it became barely audible.
"Um, what is this?" When Ren Pingsheng came back to his senses, he was delighted to realize he had left that mysterious cave, and his worries were eased. However, when he saw what was in front of him, he was surprised. In addition to the ancient Jade Tablet, there was also a jade vial.
"What is this? Did that Mysterious Elder give this to me too?" With a wave of his hand, both the Jade Tablet and the jade vial came into his grasp. Upon closer inspection of the jade vial, he found ten round Elixirs inside. They emitted a faint fragrance that brought a sense of tranquility just by smelling them.
"Little Ones of the Human Race, these useless Elixirs are for you. In your language, they seem to be called Concentration Pills. I obtained them by chance; I hope they are useful to you!" Just as he was puzzled, the Ancient Voice echoed in his heart again, leaving him even more astonished and wary of this Mysterious Elder.
"Concentration Pill? Why do these seem a bit different from the two I received at the Rising Dragon Conference?" Ren Pingsheng initially felt delighted but soon noticed some peculiarities upon closer examination and became uncertain.
"Forget it; I'll deal with these items after I leave the Ancient Ruins Space!" He put away the Elixirs and Jade Tablet and immediately composed himself, looking at the completely unfamiliar surroundings. He wanted to confirm where exactly that Mysterious Elder had sent him.
