“Elder Xue, this is the challenge match of the Rising Dragon Conference, and I am in charge here. You should leave. If you have any matters to discuss, come back after the challenge match is over!” The Elder hosting the Match seemed to have a poor relationship with Elder Xue, speaking without any politeness.
“Hmph, Cai Xing, don’t think you can shout at me just because of your status.” Elder Xue coldly replied, glancing at Ren Pingsheng. “Very well, I admire your courage. I hope you can leave here safely and reach Jizhou.”
“Haha, you don’t need to worry about that.” Ren Pingsheng said lightly with a smile. He then lowered his head to look at the Xuanjian Ling in his hand, ignoring him further.
“I hope that by then, you can still say those words!” His expression darkened again, and he turned to leave, disappearing from sight. Since he couldn’t take action against Ren Pingsheng here, he naturally didn’t want to stay and watch while feeling angry.
“Brother Ren, you’re impressive. This is a King-Level Expert, and you managed to face him without changing your expression.” Tang Sheng couldn’t help but give a thumbs up, looking at him with admiration.
“You’re overthinking it. This person is clearly targeting me. Even if I grovel before him, he wouldn’t be polite. Since that’s the case, why should I give him a good face?”
Ren Pingsheng shook his head and said helplessly. Although he had spoken firmly just now, he knew in his heart that he was not a match for the King-Level Expert. Even with the King’s Artifact in hand, he was still far from being equal. He had only acted tough to save face.
Now he was contemplating countermeasures in his mind. Elder Xue was clearly someone who held grudges and would not let him leave peacefully. Even if he didn’t dare to act against him in the Xuanjian Sect, once he left this place, he would definitely strike mercilessly.
“Alright, next is the challenge match. Warriors who qualify for the challenge can go up to the Arena and choose their opponents.” The elder spoke as if nothing had happened and pushed towards the Arena.
At this moment, those warriors also withdrew their attention from Ren Pingsheng. Although they were interested in a Zong-level Martial Artist who dared to confront a King-Level Expert without giving him face, they focused their minds on preparing for the upcoming challenges or being challenged.
“Haha… since that’s the case, I’ll be the champion! Anyone who wants to challenge me can come!” Suddenly, a robust man flashed onto an Arena and looked at the warriors below who were troubled by choosing challengers and said with a smile.
“Not bad, my time is precious; anyone who wants to come should hurry up. Once I have ten challenges, I can take a break.” Another person stepped onto an Arena. This was a slender man in black clothing whose eyes appeared hazy as if he hadn’t woken up.
“Xu Chang Kong from the Ba Jian Sect and Xuan Wudao from the Xuanjian Sect. I heard they are both Half-Step Monarch level experts,” Tang Sheng said softly as he looked at Ren Pingsheng with some surprise.
“Half-Step Monarch? That level of strength is indeed impressive; no wonder they are so unrestrained.” Ren Pingsheng nodded in realization. The Half-Step Monarch realm is the strongest below the King Level Boundary and naturally wouldn’t fear some Perfect Sect Level warriors.
Only these two became champions this time. The other warriors with Xuanjian Ling remained quietly pondering or watching coldly as they waited for challenges from others.
Then some confident challengers stepped onto the remaining eight Arenas among the hundred participants, each pointing out their preferred opponents and starting the challenge match.
These one hundred warriors with Xuanjian Ling were all top geniuses from various major forces; their strength goes without saying. They were all at Perfect Sect Level or even some at Half-Step Monarch level. They certainly wouldn’t fear challenges. Those chosen by challengers showed no hesitation and easily stepped onto the Duel Arena.
As for Xuan Wudao of the Xuanjian Sect, and Xu Changkong of the Bajiang Sect, two challengers ascended to the Arena. For them, many were cautious; although they were confident, they understood that these individuals were the top geniuses and did not underestimate them at all.
The battles in the Ten Arenas quickly began. The challengers were all at the Perfected Realm level of cultivation, so they were not far off in strength. Therefore, the matches appeared to be quite spectacular.
However, the competitions involving the two champions were completely one-sided. The two challengers exerted all their efforts and used various powerful martial techniques, yet they had no effect whatsoever. They were easily injured and forced to retreat after just a few moves from the champions.
"These two are indeed powerful, hiding their true strength!" Ren Pingsheng remarked with admiration. He had initially wanted to observe their true capabilities, but now it seemed they hadn't even revealed their real strength and still won.
"Of course. They are among the top geniuses of Snow State, so their strength is naturally unfathomable. Moreover, their ambitions are not small; otherwise, why would they come here?" Tang Sheng replied with a calm demeanor.
"Indeed, they already possess Half-Step Monarch level cultivation and are vying for a spot in the Ascending Dragon Pool. It is clear that they are not satisfied with their current status and wish to advance further before breaking through to the Monarch level."
"There are likely many such individuals throughout the Eastern Region. You seem very invested in the Ascending Dragon Conference; you should be careful then. The strength of a Half-Step Monarch is quite terrifying."
"Don't worry; since I dared to come, I naturally have confidence," he replied with a smile.
"I challenge him!" While the two were speaking, most of the matches in the Arena had concluded with challengers losing, while those possessing the Xuanjian Order emerged victorious. A warrior on one of the Arenas pointed at Ren Pingsheng without hesitation.
"Oh? You want to challenge me?" Ren Pingsheng asked in surprise to confirm he wasn't mistaken.
"Hmph, that's right! I want to challenge you; hurry up!" The warrior, dressed in a purple robe and of average build, was at the Perfected Realm level and was surprisingly wearing the attire of a disciple from the Xuanjian Sect.
His assertive tone immediately piqued the interest of many warriors. They knew about Ren Pingsheng's achievements; having defeated the Evil Sect and not fearing Monarch-level experts indicated his formidable strength. Now this person dared to challenge him, which excited them as they wanted to see Ren Pingsheng's abilities.
"Very well; state your name!" Ren Pingsheng swiftly ascended to the Arena and said calmly.
"I know your name is Ren Pingsheng; remember mine: I am Li Xun, an Elite Disciple of the Xuanjian Sect. After this match, your Xuanjian Order will belong to me." He said proudly and without waiting for Ren Pingsheng's response, drew his sword and charged forward. The aura of his Perfected Realm cultivation was unleashed without reservation.
The Arena was immediately surrounded by countless Fire Seas; it was indeed a Perfected Fire Realm, causing even the void to begin distorting from intense heat. He slashed down with his sword, causing the Fire Sea to surge as countless flames rushed forward like a fierce tiger, ferociously attacking with overwhelming momentum. Anyone hit would undoubtedly suffer severe injuries.
"The momentum is good, but unfortunately still not enough!" Ren Pingsheng stood within the Fire Sea but was completely unaffected. The Wind Trace Sword slowly unsheathed, surrounded by countless gentle breezes as Thunder Light flickered.
"Let me see how my sword technique fares against you!" he murmured softly before suddenly slashing down with his sword. A flash of sword light appeared like thunder striking suddenly and vanished in an instant. The approaching force trembled violently and was split in two before dissipating.
At that same moment, Li Xun in the distance felt a flash before his eyes. Before he could react, his body went numb and pain shot through his chest as he was sent flying out of the Arena, leaving only a few drops of blood scattered on its surface.
"Cough, cough..." Li Xun, standing on the Arena, clutched his chest, still wearing a look of disbelief. He had actually lost in one move, and so decisively, without any suspense.
"First victory!" Ren Pingsheng smiled as he sheathed the Windscar Sword and was about to step down. Suddenly, someone jumped onto the Arena, another disciple in a purple robe from the Xuanjian Sect.
"Ren Pingsheng, your strength is quite impressive. I challenge you; do you dare to accept? You shouldn't have exhausted much in that last battle. Of course, if you're afraid, there's nothing more to say. Although your strength is formidable, it still pales in comparison to us disciples of the Xuanjian Sect." He immediately displayed a mocking tone upon stepping onto the stage.
"Interesting! It seems your Xuanjian Sect has set its sights on me; then I'll play along! I accept your challenge. Let's see what kind of strength you possess!" Ren Pingsheng grinned and halted.
"Very well, I must admire your courage. In that case, leave your Xuanjian Ling behind!" The aura around him was even stronger than that of Li Xun just now.
"Receive my move, Flame Purgatory!" He slashed down, and the entire Arena was once again engulfed in flames, but this time the power was even more exaggerated. Volcanoes erupted from within; although they were merely illusions of the Fire Realm and Earth's Realm, their might was still terrifying.
"Impressive power!" Ren Pingsheng nodded. This power was much more formidable than what he had seen from that elder of the One-Pin Hall's Flame Explosion. After all, it was unleashed by a Perfected Sect-Level Martial Artist, surpassing a single Perfected Artistic Conception.
The Windscar Sword was drawn again; with one strike, wind and thunder clashed. However, this time the Sword Qi moved at an even more terrifying speed. Last time, Ren Pingsheng had only used fifty percent of the Wind and Thunder Realm; this time he used fifty-five percent of the Cloud Realm.
"Boom..." The Sword Qi vanished in an instant. The disciple from the Xuanjian Sect had long been on guard against this move and looked as if facing a great enemy. But as soon as Ren Pingsheng executed this strike, it reached him in the blink of an eye.
He hastily raised his sword to block but was sent flying. Like the first disciple from the Xuanjian Sect, he left behind only a pool of blood. At the moment he flew out of the Arena, the volcanoes on the Arena split apart and completely dissipated.
Ignoring the terrified expression on that disciple's face, Ren Pingsheng stood with his sword sheathed and looked down with a light smile: "I will be the champion of this Arena. There are still eight matches left; I welcome all challengers. Of course, I especially welcome disciples from the Xuanjian Sect to come up and teach me."
