"Long time no see, I'm back!" After dealing with the intruders, Ren Pingsheng landed and looked at the many familiar faces before him, smiling with a hint of nostalgia.
"Haha... it's good to be back! You have always been the pride of our Azure Wind Sword Sect. Ever since I heard about your situation, I believed you would be fine, and it seems I was right," Zhu Tianchao laughed heartily. For him, the safety of the Azure Wind Sword Sect was the most important thing.
"Vice Master, I'm truly sorry for causing trouble for the sect."
"Not at all. Nowadays, the Snow State is also stirring behind the scenes. Even without your incident, there are likely many forces eyeing our Azure Wind Sword Sect. Now that you're back, you can help stabilize many factions."
"Alright, since you're back, let's go inside and catch up! There have been quite a few disciples lost here that need to be properly dealt with," Bai Qi said with a smile. The others felt a pang of sadness at the sight of the deceased disciples; after all, they had died protecting the Azure Wind Sword Sect.
"Vice Master Bai is right. For those who sacrificed their lives this time, if they have siblings in the sect, we should reward them well. If not, we should take good care of their families!" Zhu Tianchao thought for a moment and instructed before returning to Azure Peak of Canglan Mountain with everyone.
As they left, the disciples of Azure Wind Sword Sect began to discuss among themselves. The recent scene had deeply shocked them. They hadn't expected such a powerful Brother Shi to exist within their sect; they had rarely heard about him before.
Some disciples who knew Ren Pingsheng or had joined around the same time immediately began recounting his various achievements: his terrifying cultivation speed, his incredible strength, becoming the First Elite Disciple at Qi Refinement Stage level ten, and single-handedly defeating two other sects' First Elite Disciples.
Hearing this, many newer disciples were in awe and began to idolize Ren Pingsheng or set him as their goal. With such a formidable Brother Shi around, they felt reassured and became more motivated in their cultivation. In the following years, a fervor for cultivation swept through the entire sect.
"Now that I think about it, you’ve been away from the sect for fifteen years!" In the Council Hall of Azure Peak of Canglan Mountain, many disciples and Elders gathered as Zhu Tianchao looked at Ren Pingsheng with some emotion. He had personally sent Ren Pingsheng off back then; memories flooded back as he realized how quickly fifteen years had passed.
"Yeah, I didn't expect that it would take me so long to return after leaving," Ren Pingsheng said somewhat helplessly. He had put in considerable effort to come back; otherwise, he wouldn't know when he would return.
"Ren Pingsheng, where have you been all these years? Back when you were at Great Chu Academy, you said you were going out to experience life and then never came back. We didn't hear anything from you for years. At one point, we even suspected that you might be dead," Kong Zhan asked curiously from beside him.
"Sigh, it's a long story. When I said I was going out to experience life, I actually went to Sword King Tomb. I did gain quite a bit there but ended up being chased by Evil Sect members and eventually fell into Abyss of Demons..."
At this point, many people exchanged glances; Abyss of Demons was one of the three forbidden places in Snow State where no one returned alive after entering. Yet now Ren Pingsheng claimed he had been there.
"You really went to Sword King Tomb? And came out from Abyss of Demons?" Zhu Tianchao asked incredulously, with other Elders sharing similar expressions.
"Indeed. I spent five years in Abyss of Demons and by chance found an exit. Unfortunately, that teleportation array sent me to Southern Region. I stayed there for six years and only recently returned to Eastern Region."
In the meantime, Ren Pingsheng only mentioned some important yet not secretive matters. However, even so, it left the people in the Council Hall dumbfounded. Many of them had not even traveled through the Snow State, let alone the Eastern Region. Yet now, Ren Pingsheng had actually made a round in the Southern Region and experienced so many things, which made them both admire and envy him greatly.
As they reminisced, time unknowingly passed to the evening. To welcome Ren Pingsheng, they prepared some food and drinks for a hearty meal, which also served to relieve the pressure they had been under recently.
In the middle of the night, in the courtyard where Ren Pingsheng was staying, Zhu Tianchao and Bai Qi were also present.
"Vice Master, I may not stay long during my trip to the Eastern Region, at most one or two decades. So the sect will ultimately still rely on you. Over these years, I have gained some rewards outside; within this Spatial Ring are two King-Level Inheritance Seeds, several Martial Arts Techniques and skills, as well as some other respected and sect-level techniques."
Ren Pingsheng looked at a Spatial Ring on the table and continued, "Of course, there are also some weapons, Armor, Elixirs, and a large number of Spirit Stones inside. Zhu Tianchao was overjoyed as he took the Spatial Ring to look at it and was immediately startled. Inside were piles of weapons, Armor, Elixirs, and Spirit Stones. There were also several shelves filled with techniques such as Martial Mastery, Supreme Realm, Zongji Jing, and King Level Boundary.
"Ren Pingsheng, where did you get these items? Even the Great Chu Dynasty might not have half of what is here!" He didn't even realize that his voice trembled slightly.
"Some were obtained during adventures in secret realms, while others were taken from enemies. These are all trivial; the most important are those two Inheritance Seeds. I looked at their properties; they are just right for you Vice Master and Deputy Vice Master. If you fuse with them, I believe that within forty to fifty years, you can become a King-Level Martial Artist."
"Inheritance Seed? Is this really an Inheritance Seed? I've only seen it in ancient texts before; I never expected to see it in person today." Zhu Tianchao said excitedly as he looked at the two glowing seeds in his hand.
"Yes, it's my first time seeing them too." Bai Qi also couldn't remain calm but then asked with some confusion: "However, can't you fuse with this item too? Why do you..."
"Although this Inheritance Seed is a good item, it does have some flaws. While it can rapidly increase one's cultivation until becoming a King-Level Martial Artist, once it is completely fused and refined, one's cultivation will hit a bottleneck. At that point, breaking through the King Level Boundary will be tenfold or even a hundredfold more difficult than for other martial artists who rely on their own training. Unless there is an extraordinary opportunity, it would be nearly impossible to progress further."
"My talent may not be exceptional but I consider myself decent enough; thus I won't need this item. You should weigh your options—whether to use it yourself or choose some loyal disciples." Ren Pingsheng analyzed the pros and cons involved.
"Haha... so that's how it is! However, even so, this Inheritance Seed is still something everyone desires. Perhaps by cultivating King-Level techniques, I could reach the King Level Boundary myself; but if I want to continue progressing further, I believe my abilities are insufficient. Now I'll just fuse with this Inheritance Seed; hopefully my cultivation can break through quickly so that I can protect these disciples well and allow them to cultivate without worries to become King-Level Experts or even go further."
Zhu Tianchao hesitated for a moment but ultimately made his decision. Once he fused with the Inheritance Seed, it would almost mean cutting off his future potential for advancement.
"Vice Master is right; we cannot always rely on you. If we fuse with it ourselves and our cultivation can break through quickly, we can at least ensure that Azure Wind Sword Sect remains worry-free for hundreds of years. This time should be enough for some talented disciples to grow." Bai Qi nodded in agreement.
"That works too; I know many Brother Shis are traveling outside and many of them have decent talents. When they return, these items should come in handy. However, aside from everything else, these King-Level techniques must be handled cautiously; do not let them leak out before our strength is sufficient." Ren Pingsheng advised.
"Don't worry, before we become king-level powerhouses, these techniques are only for those disciples and elders who have the talent and dedication to practice," Zhu Tianchao also understood the implications and had made up his mind.
"Good. There are two final items. This jade slip contains a non-attribute royal-level technique, and these five are King's Artifacts. I hope only you know about these two items. You can choose suitable individuals to practice this technique as a legacy of our sect," Ren Pingsheng said as he placed down the last two items, feeling an invisible sense of relief as if he had let go of something. With these preparations, the rise of the Canglan Sword Sect was promising, and he no longer had any worries.
After sending off the two who were still in shock, Ren Pingsheng finally had some time to rest. At that moment, he remembered that Yi Qingyi had disappeared somewhere. When they arrived at the Canglan Sword Sect, she mentioned wanting to explore the area on her own, and he didn't know when she would return.
A silent night passed, and the next day, as Ren Pingsheng just got up, Cheng Batian, Kong Zhan, and Liu Wuyun arrived. With so many people around yesterday, they hadn't fully enjoyed themselves. Now in Ren Pingsheng's small courtyard, the four of them raised their cups in joy, reminiscing about their experiences over the years.
"I didn't expect that everyone's experiences over these years would be so rich; we should have a toast!" Ren Pingsheng said with a smile as he raised his cup. The other three shouted in agreement and drank it all in one go.
"There’s something I want to say, but I’m not sure if I should," he said hesitantly after putting down his cup.
"Haha, among friends, when did we become so formal?" Kong Zhan replied somewhat dissatisfied.
"You're right; I'll just say it. Your cultivation is quite good, and your inner true energy is still robust, but compared to those extraordinary geniuses, you're still lacking quite a bit. I'm afraid the techniques you've been practicing aren't top-tier; they probably won't exceed heavenly-level techniques!"
The three nodded upon hearing this. Although they each had some fortunate encounters, they couldn't be considered anything significant. Heavenly-level techniques were decent; at least reaching the perfected sect-level realm wouldn't be a problem. However, in Ren Pingsheng's eyes, it fell short by a large margin.
"Although I've given some royal-level techniques to the sect, you should be able to practice them after some time. However, as friends, I naturally hope you can go further. I obtained an imperial-level technique at the Qinglong Hall; if you’re willing, how about practicing this one?"
Ren Pingsheng asked solicitously since he wanted to consider his friends' feelings. This was also the best technique he had besides the Blood God Technique.
