"We're going in too!" Seeing that half of the people had already entered the Thunder Sea Passage, Han Xing couldn't hold back any longer. With a light shout, he and his group of thirty martial artists stepped into the passage.
The passage was wide, over a hundred feet across, with flickering lightning on both sides that made it unapproachable. They flew for a full five minutes before arriving at the entrance of the Thunder God Temple.
Aside from the open main door, the rest of the Thunder God Temple was hidden within the Thunder Sea, making it impossible to see its true form. The door was made of a now-extinct Lightning Stone, glowing faintly and capable of shielding against lightning's erosion. After so many years, it still looked brand new.
On either side of the door stood two stone sculptures of Thunder Beasts, legendary creatures said to control lightning. They were only ten feet tall but exuded an imposing aura that made it difficult for anyone to approach.
"Alright, stop looking. Let's go inside," Han Xing said, his eyes blazing with excitement as he stepped through the main door. Ren Pingsheng and the others didn't dare hesitate and immediately followed him in.
"What's going on?" Once they stepped inside, they felt a dizzying sensation and suddenly found themselves in a Hall. To their surprise, all the martial artists who had entered before them were still there and hadn't left.
Not knowing why this was happening, Ren Pingsheng and his companions could only find a spot to quietly wait. After about half an hour, it seemed all the martial artists had arrived.
At that moment, a figure suddenly appeared in the Hall, indistinct and seemingly ordinary. All the martial artists remained silent; they knew that what followed would likely concern the Thunder God Temple.
"The Thunder God Temple has opened to select Heritage Bearers. In the center of this realm lies the Inheritance Tower. If you can pass through the Thunder Sea and reach the highest level of the Inheritance Tower, you will obtain the Thunder God's Heritage. You may begin," the figure said calmly, waving a hand as the Hall suddenly vanished. Before them lay an endless expanse of Thunder Sea, awe-inspiring and intimidating.
"Hmph! You cowards, the Heritage is mine!" A King-Level Expert raised a True Qi Shield and stepped into the Thunder Sea, disappearing in an instant.
More and more people followed suit into the Thunder Sea. Even several Supreme Realm martial artists raised their True Qi Shields as they entered. It seemed that different cultivation levels faced different pressures from the Thunder Sea.
"Endless Thunder Sea, just as I thought!" Han Xing muttered in a daze, his face filled with fervor. Ren Pingsheng's eyes lit up; he began to pay closer attention to Han Xing. It seemed he knew something.
"Brother Han, let's go in too!" one martial artist urged impatiently.
"Haha... right, let's go in. We can resist with True Qi, but be careful as we go deeper; the pressure will increase," he quickly snapped back to reality and said with a smile.
Soon they followed suit into the Thunder Sea, where thunder roared and flashes of light surrounded them. Their spiritual senses were compressed to ninety percent; with only a fraction remaining, it was impossible to discern direction amidst the Thunder Sea—they could only move forward continuously.
Surrounding them were indistinct figures moving forward as well; they were all similarly advancing ahead. The thirty of them stayed close together, making it less likely for anyone to get lost.
Lightning continually struck their True Qi shields like unending raindrops. Each strike consumed some True Qi. Only by maintaining their True Qi shields intact could they safely traverse through the Thunder Sea.
"Haha! This truly is paradise! You useless fools think you can lay claim to the Heritage?" Not long after entering, Ren Pingsheng suddenly spotted a figure flashing by. The surrounding lightning actually parted on its own without harming him at all.
"This is... could there be some treasure? No, it seems to be Artistic Conception, Thunder's Realm!" he muttered to himself in realization. "That's right, Thunder's Realm should thrive here, at least it won't consume true energy. No one knows how long this journey will take, and if true energy is depleted too much, it could be quite dangerous. If only I had Thunder's Realm."
"By the way, my Nine Transformations Body Refinement Technique is still missing the last layer, which also requires lightning tempering?" Ren Pingsheng's eyes suddenly lit up. This was a perfect opportunity; the boundless Thunder Sea was just right for body tempering. However, he felt a bit hesitant about whether he could withstand the power of the lightning here.
Moreover, there were martial artists all around, making it impossible to cultivate here. If someone had ulterior motives, it could be dangerous.
"It seems I need to find an opportunity to slip away and then find a secluded place to cultivate." He quickly made up his mind, just as Han Xing approached with a few others.
"Brother Chu, I need to discuss something with you. Actually, I know some things about Thunder God Temple. There’s a great fortune waiting for us." He said mysteriously.
"Oh? Is what Brother Han said true? Do you really know about Thunder God Temple?" Ren Pingsheng asked, feigning surprise as his eyes flickered.
"It’s also by chance that I know this. In this Thunder Sea, there is a treasure. Although it can't compare to the Thunder God's inheritance, if we can obtain it, becoming an imperial-level powerhouse or even advancing further won't be difficult."
"Really? Is there such a treasure? But this Thunder Sea is vast and boundless; where are we supposed to find it?"
"Hehe, coincidentally I know its general location. In the most remote part of this Thunder Sea, if we head there, we can reach it in no more than ten days."
"But is there any danger? Our strength in this Thunder Sea is considerably weaker. If it's dangerous..." Ren Pingsheng hesitated.
"Brother Chu, thinking like that isn’t right. You should know that in the Thunder Sea, where isn’t there danger? And how easy do you think it is to obtain the Thunder God's inheritance? The dangers are even greater elsewhere. Relatively speaking, this treasure is much safer. At least there won't be competition from those royal-level powerhouses. What are you still hesitating for? Think about becoming an imperial-level powerhouse or even an emperor-level powerhouse." Han Xing explained while enticing him.
"Imperial-level powerhouse? Alright, I agree, but I don't know what this treasure is. I wonder if Brother Han can reveal a bit more so I can prepare." After much hesitation, he finally gritted his teeth and agreed.
"Brother Chu truly has great insight. This treasure is called Thunder Pearl, and there are three of them, formed over hundreds of thousands of years in this boundless Thunder Sea. It’s said that those who fuse with a Thunder Pearl can control the thunder of heaven and earth. Cultivating thunder attribute techniques and comprehending thunder attribute martial skills will no longer have obstacles."
"Great! When do we set off?" Ren Pingsheng asked eagerly.
"We'll wait until I gather everyone else; we should go together. It’s still somewhat dangerous there, so we need to be cautious." He smiled and then turned to find others. They didn’t discuss how to distribute the three Thunder Pearls. In the end, it would depend on each person's abilities.
"Thunder Pearl? I want to see what scheme you're plotting." After he left, the excitement and urgency on Ren Pingsheng's face disappeared completely, replaced by calmness.
He always felt that Han Xing had some ulterior motive; he just didn't expect him to have his sights set on the Thunder God Temple. He wondered where Han Xing had learned this information or if this was merely a ruse to gather people for another purpose.
Before long, Han Xing returned; surprisingly all thirty martial artists agreed. Under Han Xing's lead, they slowly changed direction and gradually moved away from most of the martial artists.
Five days passed in the blink of an eye, and the power of the Thunder Sea intensified. During these days they wandered around constantly changing directions. Even Ren Pingsheng and his companions felt overwhelmed by the complexity of their movements. Even if some interested individuals were tracking them, they probably had long lost their trail by now.
Five days passed in the blink of an eye, and at this moment, their faces were all serious as they looked ahead. The Thunder Sea seemed a bit different, with various phenomena occurring nearby. Lightning transformed into all kinds of Demon Beasts, vividly alive, some running, some tumbling, and some lying at odd angles, each displaying different expressions.
"Look, the places where these three phenomena have appeared are exactly where the Thunder Pearl has manifested. These phantom beasts possess considerable strength and will actively attack people. As long as we defeat these phantom beasts, the Thunder Pearl will reveal its true form," Han Xing said, his eyes shining as he pointed forward.
"What are we waiting for? Let's take action quickly." The martial artists who had been hesitant and doubtful now set their minds at ease. They couldn't help but rub their fists in preparation for battle.
"Great, ten people will be responsible for one. Once we defeat these phantom beasts, how we claim the Thunder Pearl will be up to each of us," he said, looking at everyone.
"Ah, Brother Han is indeed righteous; let's do as Brother Han says!" The other martial artists were delighted. They thought Han Xing would require one for himself and that they would each have to compete for the remaining two. If it was truly like this, how could they not be excited?
"Alright, we ten will take care of this one Thunder Pearl. The rest of you can divide among yourselves," Han Xing waved his hand, including ten people, with Ren Pingsheng among them, in the first group.
"We ten will handle this Thunder Pearl. Everyone else, be careful," he advised briefly before flashing forward to attack. The phantom beasts roared angrily upon seeing someone intrude and quickly surrounded Han Xing.
"We'll also take action; these phantom beasts possess Perfect Sect Level cultivation. Let's finish this quickly." The other eight martial artists grouped together and began to fight.
"Han Xing is really kind here; he doesn't even want a single Thunder Pearl, saying it's all based on individual ability—how strange." Ren Pingsheng did not rush to attack but was filled with doubts. "His actions either mean he is certain to obtain a Thunder Pearl, or his goal is not even about the Thunder Pearl. Could there be something even more valuable here?"
As Han Xing and his group began their assault, the other two groups were not slow either; they chose their targets and attacked as well. Their minds were solely focused on the Thunder Pearl, so they naturally did not notice these things.
"Forget it; there's no clue now; we'll just have to take it step by step," Ren Pingsheng shook his head and also flashed forward to engage a phantom beast. With his Intermediate Sect Level cultivation, he performed quite well as a genius but was still struggling against a Perfect Sect Level phantom beast.
