The three members of the Evil Sect were already stunned. Coupled with their recent injuries, they felt like floating weeds in water, swaying unsteadily, as if they would topple over at any moment under the pressure of these two.
"How is this possible? When did Ren Pingsheng become this powerful? If he was really this strong, how could he still be running away?" Tian Xie muttered in disbelief. However, everything before him forced him to accept the reality. He was momentarily confused.
"Split!" The Demon Emperor made no visible movements; he simply opened his mouth, and from the swirling black demonic energy emerged a black dragon. It swayed its head and tail as if it were real. With a gentle claw extension, it reached out toward Li Yun. A fierce wind howled, filling the entire space with its oppressive force, making it difficult to breathe. The three members of the Evil Sect dropped to all fours, struggling even to lift their heads.
"Shatter!" Li Yun's expression grew serious as he concentrated his energy into his fist, colliding it with the claw extended by the dragon with a force that could shatter the heavens.
"Boom..." After a moment of stalemate, a loud explosion finally echoed through the air. At the center of the collision, a black hole appeared, created by the collapse of space, but it vanished in an instant. Both the dragon and Li Yun staggered back a step, appearing evenly matched.
However, only Li Yun knew that he was at a disadvantage. His right arm had gone numb and was nearly unusable. His fist was covered in blood; he had sustained some minor injuries during their exchange.
"Demon Emperor, you are indeed formidable, but I don't believe you can hold out for long," he said softly, his aura still strong as blue and red colors alternated around him.
"Try my newly comprehended ultimate move: Wind Fire Calamity!" He shouted as he struck out with his fist. Winds danced through the heavens while flames leaped about. The wind fueled the fire, and the flames threatened to consume everything in their path. A massive bird of blue and red charged toward the dragon with overwhelming momentum.
The dragon was not to be outdone; the bird and dragon clashed in midair. The space around them twisted as they fought, creating a fiery sea. The dragon's demonic energy was significantly diminished by the flames, causing it to shrink in size. Likewise, the blue-red bird also suffered losses, having two of its legs torn off.
The Demon Emperor watched quietly from below, a sinister smile on his face that concealed his thoughts. Just when both sides seemed evenly matched, he suddenly spoke: "Explode!"
"Damn it!" Li Yun's expression changed as he attempted to control the bird to retreat. However, the dragon paused for a moment before expanding and exploding with a loud bang. Not only did the nearby bird suffer damage, but even Li Yun at a distance was affected.
"Ah..." Despite his quick reflexes, Li Yun sustained significant injuries and couldn't suppress a mouthful of blood. His face turned pale as he retreated far away.
At that moment, the Demon Emperor moved swiftly to stand before the three members of the Evil Sect. He reached out and grabbed Tian Xie, who lay on the ground, staring directly into his eyes as if assessing something.
"What do you want with me? Let me go! Otherwise, my father won't let you off!" Tian Xie's face changed dramatically as he shouted; at that moment, he had no power to fight back.
"What a pity; you're still lacking just a bit." The Demon Emperor shook his head and disregarded Tian Xie's terrified expression as he lightly shook him off to one side. Tian Xie felt himself sinking into darkness before losing consciousness entirely.
"Young Master, what's wrong? Young Master, wake up!" The two elders from the Evil Sect shouted in panic; however, Tian Xie seemed to have fallen into a coma and could not be roused no matter how they called him. This situation left them feeling angry yet powerless, fearing they might meet a similar fate.
"Ah! Take another hit from me!" Despite being injured, Li Yun refused to give up and launched another attack with his fist coming at incredible speed, each punch carrying terrifying energy.
Demon Emperor effortlessly caught his punch with a light flick of his hand, appearing completely relaxed. Occasionally, when he counterattacked, it left Li Yun in a fluster. However, Li Yun seemed determined, disregarding his injuries and sometimes even willing to exchange blows. As a result, his wounds grew increasingly severe, while Demon Emperor sustained only minor injuries.
"Damn it, I refuse to believe you can hold on for this long!" he roared, attacking again without fatigue. With his experience, he could see that Demon Emperor was merely borrowing Ren Pingsheng's body. This required immense Soul Power. Once Demon Emperor could no longer maintain control, he would be forced to withdraw, at which point Ren Pingsheng's consciousness would return.
His goal was clear: to continuously deplete Demon Emperor's Soul Power. After that, even if Ren Pingsheng, a mere Martial Mastery, was heavily injured, he would still be manageable. This was why he fought tirelessly, ignoring his own injuries.
"I didn't expect to have become so weak over the years; dealing with a single Zongji Jing warrior is this difficult. This kid's body isn't up to par; it's still too weak," Demon Emperor thought helplessly as he battled. His strength was now roughly on par with Li Yun, or perhaps slightly inferior. His deeper understanding of Artistic Conception and Profound Meaning allowed him to suppress Li Yun somewhat, but achieving victory in a short time was exceedingly difficult.
"Kid, what do we do now? If this drags on any longer, I won't be able to hold out much longer."
"How about this: you seize an opportunity for a full-force strike and severely injure him. Then I'll take over the body and escape; there should be some chance of success," Ren Pingsheng suggested after some thought. At this point, they had no choice but to take a risk. With a flying artifact in hand, as long as they could create some distance, he wouldn't have much to worry about. But first, Li Yun needed to be severely injured so that he wouldn't have time to pursue them.
"Alright then, I'll give him my all in one strike. But afterward, I probably won't have the strength to help you escape; you need to be careful," Demon Emperor agreed.
Such an opportunity wasn't hard to find; Li Yun, intent on fighting desperately, didn't want to give Demon Emperor even a moment's respite. Thus, they often ended up injuring each other. Previously, when Demon Emperor hesitated, he tried to avoid confrontation as much as possible because every clash drained his Soul Power.
"Heh heh, it seems you can't hold out much longer; otherwise, why would you keep dodging?" Li Yun laughed excitedly, attacking without any reservations and even abandoning most of his defenses.
Meanwhile, Demon Emperor silently calculated and ignored Li Yun's taunts. Finally, when another punch came at him, instead of dodging, he concentrated his energy and threw a punch of his own. This punch was swift and fierce, unmatched in power; by the time Li Yun reacted, it was already too late.
However, instead of feeling anxious, he felt joy; this indicated that Demon Emperor was nearing his limit and thus had resorted to such actions. Resolutely committing himself to the fight, he continued throwing punches even if it meant both would suffer injuries.
"Bang... Ah..." Both received a punch to their chests; while Demon Emperor turned pale and retreated twenty or thirty feet in an instant, Li Yun let out a pained scream as several bones in his chest broke.
"Rise!" Without pausing in his movements, as he retreated, Demon Emperor waved his hand and summoned a massive dragon made of black Demonic Energy, which charged toward the injured Li Yun.
"Kid, from here on out it's up to you," said Demon Emperor, his voice weak; it was evident that their recent clash had drained much of his Soul Power.
"Yes, don't worry!" replied Ren Pingsheng, feeling once again in control of his body. At that moment, the black dragon collided with Li Yun. A thunderous roar erupted alongside intermittent screams of agony. It seemed that after being struck by Demon Emperor, he was then slammed by the black Demon Dragon, leaving him in dire straits.
Without further thought, Ren Pingsheng rushed back the way they had come. With the presence of the Abyss of Demons, there were no paths left to the sides or ahead; retreating was their only option.
"Where do you think you're running off to? We need to rescue our Young Master first!" One of the Supreme Experts from the Evil Sect, despite being heavily injured, struggled to block Ren Pingsheng's path.
"Damn it! Why is this old fool so relentless?" he cursed under his breath; there was no time to waste now. If Li Yun regained his composure, escaping would become nearly impossible.
"Hey, kid, although I don't know what Secret Technique you used to have such impressive strength before, your aura is too weak now. I fear the effect of the Secret Technique has worn off. You won't be able to leave without dealing with us, Young Master. Even if I'm heavily injured, capturing you will still be a piece of cake."
"Hmph, get lost!" Ren Pingsheng wouldn't listen to his nonsense and swung the Azure Wind Sword. Countless sword energies fell like raindrops as he swiftly dodged away.
"Haha, you can't escape!" the old man mocked, waving his hand to dissipate the sword energy. Even though he was injured, he was still a Supreme Expert, and he didn't take these small tricks seriously.
"Damn it, if that's the case, then die!" Ren Pingsheng, once again blocked, grew furious. His eyes widened as the Azure Wind Sword unleashed a terrifying Sword Momentum, slicing through the air in an instant.
The old man was already heavily injured and suddenly found himself locked down by the overwhelming force of nature around him. He couldn't move at all as the endless sharp sword energy approached him. He struggled in fear, but just as he managed to break free, he couldn't raise his hand in time before the sword energy pierced through him.
"Ah... how could this happen..." he screamed as he flew backward, a wound the size of a bowl opening up on his chest, blood spraying into the air. As he landed, his eyes remained wide open in disbelief that he would die at the hands of such a Martial Mastery kid.
Ren Pingsheng merely glanced back and attempted to escape again. Unfortunately, at that moment, Li Yun had already broken free from the encirclement of the Black Dragon. Although he looked utterly miserable and weak, a sect-level expert was not someone he could handle even when injured. He had no choice but to focus on fleeing for his life.
"Where do you think you're going? Stay here!" When Li Yun looked up and saw him, his eyes turned red. Having paid such a high price, he naturally couldn't let Ren Pingsheng escape. With a single step, he appeared right in front of Ren Pingsheng, striking down with one palm.
Ren Pingsheng felt a tightness all over his body followed by a sharp pain in his chest as he was sent flying. He moved so quickly that he couldn't even see what happened, let alone react or defend himself.
"Thud..." The immense force from the palm not only caused him to spit blood from his severe injuries but also scattered his internal True Qi. He flew backward rapidly through the air, unable to muster any strength to stop himself.
"Uh... what is this!" Ren Pingsheng sensed something unusual behind him and struggled to shake off his dazed mind as he turned to look. The Abyss of Demons above was boiling with Demonic Energy, extending black tentacles that quickly wrapped around him. He felt his body being pulled downwards uncontrollably.
