It was as if a giant was roaring and clawing at the air. Strange laughter echoed intermittently through the wind, sending chills down their spines.
The night passed just like that, leaving all one hundred disciples on edge. The sky remained gloomy but brightened slightly, allowing them to finally breathe a sigh of relief. However, their apprehension towards this strange Demon Soul Valley deepened.
"Alright, today is the day for the mission assessment. Let's head in. Everyone be careful," Gu Yunfei said as he stood up, signaling to the others before stepping ahead towards the entrance.
One by one, the hundred disciples gathered around, their attention heightened to the fullest as they followed Gu Yunfei into Demon Soul Valley.
As they stepped inside, it felt as if they had entered a different world. Everyone felt a tightness in their bodies, and even the temperature seemed to drop significantly. Their surroundings were filled with monotonous blackness, and even the already gloomy sky was shrouded in darkness.
Some curious disciples even touched the wild grass and trees nearby to see what differences there might be. However, aside from the varying colors, they couldn't discern any other features for now.
Ren Pingsheng carefully observed everything in his surroundings. Although so many people had entered together, who knew when danger might strike or if it would fall upon him? The rest watched with wide eyes to see how much difference there was in strength compared to regular Demon Beasts aside from their appearances.
Each person proceeded cautiously; however, the strength of the Demonized Beasts varied greatly. They were all Perfect Realm Warriors, so after a flurry of blades and swords, they easily dispatched these Demonized Beasts. This eased many worried hearts among them.
"What a joke! Turns out they're just for show; although they look strange, their strength hasn't increased much," remarked one disciple as they relaxed visibly, relief washing over their faces.
The pace of advancement quickened significantly once the small worries in their hearts dissipated. The disciples no longer felt restrained. This time, they had a mission, and these Demonized Beasts were points for them. They wanted to earn more points. With fear gone, they became more proactive.
"Oh, there are two groups of Demonized Beasts ahead; we can't let them escape. Let's split up and regroup after dealing with them," someone suggested immediately upon making the discovery.
Although Demon Soul Valley appeared to be only about fifty or sixty zhang wide, the space inside was much larger. Along the way, the narrowest areas were still four to five hundred zhang wide. Their current position was nearing a thousand zhang. Therefore, to attack two waves of Demon Beasts simultaneously, they needed to separate by a considerable distance.
"Very well, but be careful; if anything happens, signal with a howl," Gu Yunfei acknowledged their desire to earn points and agreed. Soon, the hundred people divided into two groups. One group followed Gu Yunfei, while the other was led by six disciples from the top ten of the Bronze Ranking.
"Haha... this is great; earning points feels fantastic," some disciples shouted during the battle as the Demonized Beasts fell one by one at their hands.
"Yeah, these Demonized Beasts are only slightly stronger than ordinary Demon Beasts. I worried for so long before, but now I can earn points without worry."
This group was indeed the one that proposed splitting up, led by the six top ten disciples of the Bronze Ranking. They encountered over forty Demon Beasts, which was very easy for their fifty members. A few who were slow even failed to secure any points.
"We should continue forward; there are more Demonized Beasts ahead, so there's no need to worry about not getting points," Su Lang, the highest-ranked among this group, spoke up.
