"The drinks outside are often not clean. What if there are additives that pregnant women can't consume?" I explained.
"What should we drink then?" a colleague asked.
"Drinking more hot water is the best," I said with a smile.
Zhang Ting's face looked a bit unpleasant after hearing my words, but she didn't say anything further.
I went to the break room to make coffee and unexpectedly saw Zhang Ting hugging a man inside.
I recognized the man; he was Li Cheng, Wang Ling's husband.
How did they end up here?
Just as I was puzzled, Zhang Ting suddenly pushed Li Cheng away and pretended to faint, leaning into his arms.
Li Cheng quickly supported her and asked with concern, "What happened?"
"I'm fine; it might just be low blood sugar. You don't need to worry about me; go back to work," Zhang Ting said weakly.
"How can I go to work when you're like this?" Li Cheng said with concern.
"I'm really okay; you can rest assured. I'll be fine after sitting for a while," Zhang Ting insisted.
"Then I'll take you home after work," Li Cheng finally agreed.
"Really? That's great! Thank you!" Zhang Ting said excitedly.
I watched all of this through the crack in the door and couldn't help but sneer inwardly.
Zhang Ting really knows how to act; no wonder she could deceive all of us.
Her methods are quite clever, using Li Cheng's sympathy to achieve her own goals.
When I left work in the afternoon, I saw Li Cheng and Zhang Ting leaving the company together.
Wang Ling looked very unhappy; I knew she was upset about Zhang Ting being with Li Cheng.
But that had nothing to do with me; the most important thing for me now was to keep my job.
The next morning, as soon as I arrived at the office, I saw Zhang Ting's husband in the office.
Zhang Ting's husband looked fierce, with a face full of excess flesh, a bald head, and wearing a tight black short-sleeve shirt that revealed his heavily tattooed arms—definitely not a good person.
Seeing Zhang Ting's husband arrive, everyone in the office fell silent, even Wang Ling was too scared to speak.
Zhang Ting's face turned pale when she saw her husband arrive, and her voice trembled.
"Why are you here?" Zhang Ting asked, her voice shaking.
"Why can't I come?" Zhang Ting's Husband snorted coldly, then glanced at the others in the office and said icily, "You think I don't know you're talking behind my back?"
"No, no, absolutely not," the people in the office quickly shook their heads in denial.
"That's good to hear. If you dare to speak ill of me behind my back, don't blame me for being rude," Zhang Ting's Husband threatened fiercely.
The people in the office were too scared to speak.
"Why are you here?" Zhang Ting asked again.
"I came to see you. Why didn't you come home last night?" Zhang Ting's Husband asked.
"I worked late last night and ended up sleeping at the office," Zhang Ting explained.
"Working late? Why were you working late?" Zhang Ting's Husband pressed on.
"I..." Zhang Ting didn't know how to explain.
At that moment, Wang Ling suddenly stood up and said to Zhang Ting's Husband, "You must be Zhang Ting's Husband, right? I'm Wang Ling, a colleague of Zhang Ting."
"Oh," Zhang Ting's Husband glanced at Wang Ling and replied indifferently.
"Zhang Ting is pregnant; you should take good care of her and not trouble someone else's husband," Wang Ling said deliberately.
I knew Wang Ling was still upset with Li Cheng, so she intentionally brought this up in front of Zhang Ting's Husband.
Upon hearing Wang Ling's words, Zhang Ting's Husband frowned and then looked at Zhang Ting, asking, "Is what she said true?"
"I..." Zhang Ting was once again at a loss for how to explain.
