"Summer, what are you still dawdling for after work?" Zhang Ting said impatiently as she walked over to me with her bag.
I turned and looked at her pregnant belly in confusion, closed my eyes for a moment, and checked the time on my phone: March 8, 2023. I had returned to the time of my promotion assessment in my previous life...
Back then, I was deceived by her and Wang Ling's sweet words, willingly giving everything for her. During her pregnancy, I drove her to and from work, accompanied her to hospital check-ups, and even stayed by her side all night when she suffered from severe morning sickness.

"What's wrong? Why are you daydreaming?" Zhang Ting urged again.
"Oh, nothing," I replied, snapping back to reality.
"Then I'm leaving. Hurry up!" Zhang Ting turned and walked toward the door. Just as she reached it, she suddenly turned around and said to me, "By the way, Wang Ling has something to do today and can't take me home. Can you give me a ride later?"
"I can't. I have to deliver a document to my boss today, and I don't know how long it will take!" I feigned a troubled expression.
"Then... how about you drop me off after you finish delivering the document?" Zhang Ting asked tentatively.
"That would probably take two hours. Are you sure you can wait that long?" I looked into her eyes and asked seriously.
"Then... forget it!" Zhang Ting hesitated for a moment before ultimately giving up. She knew that by the time I finished delivering the document, it would be dark, and since her home was far from the company, she wouldn't be able to catch a cab and would have to take the subway back.
Watching her walk away, I suddenly felt a sense of vindictive pleasure. In my previous life, she used my sympathy and trust against me, causing me to be scolded by my boss and lose my chance for promotion while laughing with Wang Ling behind my back. This time, I wanted her to experience the feeling of waiting.
"Hey, Ting, you're still here?" Wang Ling came out of the office and walked over when she saw Zhang Ting standing at the company entrance.
"Yeah, I'm waiting for Summer. She said she would take me to the subway station later," Zhang Ting replied with a smile.
"Oh, I see!" Wang Ling nodded, then suddenly turned to me and said, "Xia Tian, can you give Ting a ride? She's pregnant and it's not safe for her to be alone."
Upon hearing this, I couldn't help but feel both angry and amused.
What does "on the way" mean? Her house is on the south side and mine is on the north side, which is a huge distance apart. How can that be considered "on the way"?
Moreover, she clearly has her own car but still wants me to give her a ride. Isn't that moral coercion?
"Not on the way," I coldly refused.
"Xia Tian, don't be so unreasonable! Ting is a pregnant woman; if you ran into her, you would help her, right?"
Seeing that I wouldn't agree, Wang Ling started to pressure me with moral arguments.
"Sorry, I'm not a saint and I have no obligation to do that," I said expressionlessly.
"You... how can you be like this?" Wang Ling was so angry that her face turned red. She stared at me for a long time before finally managing to say something.
I ignored her, packed my things, and left the office directly.
I knew that Wang Ling just wanted to appear virtuous without making any sacrifices, and I would never give her that opportunity.
When I arrived at the subway station, I found an excuse to send Zhang Ting a message: "The boss just notified us of an urgent meeting; I have to deliver some documents. You can head back first!"
After a while, Zhang Ting finally replied: "Okay."
